He came out throwing right from the start, as Minooka’s first play after Morris controlled the ball for more than half of the first quarter, and scored on a 10-yard Keagan Sobol run to take a 7-0 lead, was a fake handoff to Gunn and a deep pass from Carnagio to Jacob Adams that gained 41 yards. A facemask penalty on Morris moved it ahead 15 more yards to the 13, and Gunn took it the rest of the way on the next play.

“That first play was by design,” Carnagio said. “We knew they would be keying on Nathan, so we faked it to him. I relaxed pretty much after that.

I wasn’t all that nervous to start off with, though. It was just another game.”

The rest of the Indians were impressed with Carnagio’s work as well.

“Johnny’s a special player,” Gunn said. “We knew he was special from the first day of practice, and this game didn’t surprise us. Between him throwing the ball and keeping the defense honest and my line opening up big holes, I had the easy job. It’s easy to run through big holes like my line was making for me.

“And our defense came up big, too. After that first drive of theirs, we made some adjustments. We knew that one touchdown wasn’t going to beat us anyway.”

“Johnny is a heck of a passer,” Minooka coach Paul Forsythe said. “You are going to hear a lot more about him in the next few years.

“I want to give some credit to Morris, though. They never quit and made it a lot more exciting than we wanted late in the game. But that’s what a Morris-Minooka game should be. It was an awesome atmo-

sprained, and he maybe could have played, but it’s a long season and we didn’t want to risk losing him for the rest of it.

“What really hurt was getting stopped in the red zone twice. We have to score there.

That’s 14 points for us, and we lost by seven. But, give Minooka credit. They got the stops when they needed them and we couldn’t. We have some problems we need to fix, but we’ll get at it next week and get back on track.”

MINOOKA – A few things went as expected in Friday night’s season-opening football game between Morris and Minooka, which the Indians won, 28-21.

Minooka’s Nathan Gunn was worth the price of admission, rushing for 161 yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries.

And, when he was on the field, Morris’ Jake Walker was every bit his equal, as he finished with 42 yards on 11 carries, all in the first half, before twisting an ankle and sitting out after intermission.

Also, the game was typically season-opener sloppy, as both teams had more penalties than they would have liked – Morris had nine flags for 60 yards, while Minooka had seven for 87.

And, in typical Morris-Minooka fashion, it was a hard-fought, tothe-final-buzzer battle, with the Redskins scoring with 3:09 to play to pull to within a touchdown and nearly recovering the ensuing onside kick at midfield.

More interesting, however, was what was unexpected. At least to most observers.

Minooka sophomore quarterback John Carnagio lit up the night sky with pass after pass, most of them finding their intended targets. All told, Carnagio finished 17 of 24 for 253 yards through the air. Seneca gets just enough from its offense

By MARK JOHNSON Shaw Media Correspondent SENECA – The Seneca offense got off to a great start in its first game since graduating over 94 percent of its offense from a nine-win team.

The great start lasted for all of one play.

After junior Casey Pifer broke off a 24-yard run on Seneca’s first offensive play of 2014, the Fighting Irish did not gain another first down until more than 6 minutes had passed in the third quarter.

They finished with five first downs and 136 total yards.

They still defeated Dwight, 147, thanks largely to their second-biggest offensive gain of the night – a 16-yard pass from Arik Applebee to Tyler McKinney on a late fake field goal.

The effort could be seen as the work of a team that will struggle to score points all season, or as an expected hiccup for a team debuting 10 new first-time starters. Pifer believes it is the latter.

“Just consistency from the

line – everyone, actually. People getting tired – you gotta play through that,” Pifer said when asked what was missing Friday. “We will [improve].

That’s what practice is for.”

Seneca was outgained, 176-136, by the Trojans, who totaled 13 first downs. A number of key plays, with the fake field goal touchdown the most prominent, allowed Seneca to win anyway. Two Dwight punts actually cost the Trojans yardage – one was punted into the upman, and the punter whiffed on the other.

Interceptions by Baley Lejawa and Zach Russell also had an effect.

The Irish did not play a flawless game, either – they lost a fumble and also had a bizarre turnover on downs where they lined up to go for it on fourth-and-2 from their own 28 and had Russell get tackled in the backfield when he did not appear to be expecting the snap – but they made fewer major mistakes than Dwight.

That helped keep their yardage deficit surmountable.

“We’re gonna have to win ugly. We don’t have the thoroughbreds to run up and down the field like we did before,” Seneca coach Ted O’Boyle said. “We got some big guys up front, and coach [Terry] Maxwell’s a premier line coach in high school, and we’ll shore up all the things we need to in our line. We’re gonna have to be three, four yards and then try to hit a big play.”

If Friday is any indication, Pifer is going to be a focal point in Seneca’s offense.

He more than doubled his 48-yard varsity output from 2013 against Dwight, rushing 13 times for 98 yards. Nobody else received more than five carries for the Irish, and they attempted just nine passes, completing three.

“A little nervous, you know, coming after last year and like those great [backs] – Bo Taylor and Tommy [Lovett],” Pifer said. “Just do whatever I had to do to help my team win, you know, start what we did last year.”

Dibble, Coalers rebound with win over Reed-Custer

By RYAN WOODEN Shaw Media Correspondent BRAIDWOOD – Shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday, after the fans had scattered and the players had shed their gear, Coal City head football coach Lenny Onsen reflected on all the waiting his star running back Jack Dibble had done.

Two separate ACL injuries forced the senior to wait two years to get his chance at running back and get back into the end zone for the first time since he was a sophomore.

Then, even after Dibble found the end zone 2:33 into his return, he was forced to wait another 55 minutes because of a lightning delay.

When Dibble and the Coalers emerged from the locker room, Onsen wasn’t sure what to expect.

“Their energy, and Jack’s energy, shocked me,” Onsen said after Friday’s 27-13 win over Reed-Custer. “I didn’t know what was going to happen, because they’re sitting there and they’re tight.

“But they came out with energy and I didn’t say a word.

That was all that football team, and I was so proud of how they did it.”

As the fieldhouse emptied out, the stands refilled and the game resumed. For Dibble, it was everything he’d dreamed of.

“It was amazing,” he said.

“I’ve been working my butt off since two years ago when I tore my first [ACL]. Hard work and persistance pays off. Everything you see in those inspirational sports quotes is all true.”

Onsen made sure to erase any lingering doubt over the status of Dibble’s health by riding the speedy senior to the tune of 28 carries for 200 yards and a trio of touchdowns. And after Dibble had longed to get back into the end zone, Friday’s performance was even better than he’d ever expected.

“It was better than I expected, I’m not gonna lie,” Dibble said. “I remember scoring

NORMAL – It might be a new season, but the Minooka cross country program just keeps on running.

Both the boys and girls teams finished second at the Normal West Invitational on Saturday. The boys finished with 66 points, trailing only Plainfield South’s total of 28.

The girls, meanwhile, had 35 points, just behind winner Dunlap’s total of 33.

In the boys race, senior Gabe Ceballos took first place overall, finishing the 3.0-mile course in 15:52. Other runners for the Indians were junior Miguel Lomeli (10th, 16:41), sophomore Justin Tutt (12th, 16:49), senior Henry Bugajski (20th, 17:03) and sophomore Jack Sullivan (23rd, 17:06).

In the girls’ race, Mackenzie Callahan (18:24) and Ashley Tutt (18:26), both sophomores, finished 1-2 overall for the Indians, with junior Morgan Crouch (19:04) taking sixth.

Senior Gaby Gall was 12th in 20:23, while sophomore Ali Mondrella finished 14th with a time of 20:51.

“These kids were excited about the opportunity to compete after training hard these last few months,” Minooka coach Kevin Gummerson said.

“We were looking forward to seeing them attack this meet with some enthusiasm and they did that.

‘May in the Summer’: Marriage, symbolism and a missed opportunity

By Stephanie Merry The Washington Post On paper, there’s a lot to like about “May in the Summer.” It was written and directed by a woman, which is an anomaly, but it’s also about the complicated inner-workings of distinct female characters and takes place in Amman, Jordan. It even passes the Bechdel Test, which is a ridiculously easy metric that most movies nevertheless fail: It has at least two female characters who talk to each other about something other than a man.

Given how underrepresented women are in Hollywood, it’s understandable to want to root for “May in the Summer.” But a movie has to be more than a hopeful symbol of progress, and this one only sporadically lives up to the promises of a good cast and a filmmaker, Cherien Dabis, who won over critics and festival crowds five years ago with the drama “Amreeka.”

The story revolves around May (Dabis, in her acting debut). An Amman native with a Jordanian-Christian mother and an American father, she now lives in New York, working as a writer. When she returns to her home town for her wedding, to a Palestinian also from Jordan, she spends time with her opinionated sisters and divorced parents.

Her mother, who blatantly disapproves of the marriage, doesn’t plan to attend the ceremony. But, does May want to get married? That remains unclear, even to her.

This has the makings of a good story, and it’s an appropriate time (as always) to look at the cultural and religious discrimination in the Middle East. But Dabis made a misstep in casting herself in the lead role, despite her movie-star looks. Although she warms up to the part by the movie’s end, her sometimes wooden delivery can be distracting, and her demeanor tends to be inscrutable. The

best actors manage to convey a lot with just a look, but Dabis isn’t there yet. Meanwhile, her attempt to conjure the giddy absurdity of drunkenness – a notoriously tall order for an actor – falls flat.

But she has her moments.

In one of the most memorable scenes, May and her sister, Dalia (Alia Shawkat), float in the Dead Sea while having a heart-to-heart. It’s beautifully filmed, and the conversation feels real. Across the sea, May says, people are at war, while here, her big life decisions revolve around whether to get a band or a DJ for her wedding reception.

Along with Shawkat, the rest of the casting is exceptional. Bill Pullman plays the girls’ absentee father, turning a deadbeat dad into a likable guy, and their mother, Nadine, is played by Hiam Abbass. She may be the most interesting character in the movie. A devout Christian who has been alone since her husband left her for a younger

woman, she doesn’t quite know what her purpose is. So she spends her days cooking for her daughters and working on untying a giant knot, which May believes is some kind of jinx on her upcoming nuptials.

The movie slips in some thought-provoking themes, including a certain solipsism as every character harbors secrets from the others. But neither the idea that only we know ourselves, nor the timely plot thread about Nadine’s religious intolerance, feels thoroughly explored. It’s diverting to watch and has moments of brilliance, but even with all its refreshing female characters, “May in the Summer” doesn’t leave a lasting impression.

• “May in the Summer” received two-and-a-half stars out of four. The film is rated R and contains strong language.

Although I understand and respect the benefits of being bilingual, this caused a lot of communication gaps and frustration between us and the grandkids during their early years.

The problem is, when we are together, my daughter-in-law speaks to her children exclusively in her native language. Have you spoken to your son and daughter-in-law about how this makes you feel? If you haven’t, you should, because she may not be deliberately trying to make you feel excluded.

Cause of ‘anovulation’ should be determined Dear Doctor K: I’ve always had infrequent periods, but I never thought much of it. My doctor recently used the word “anovulatory” to explain why I’ve had trouble getting pregnant. What does this mean? Could the two be connected?

Dear Reader: ”Anovulation” means you are not ovulating -releasing eggs. A woman’s ovary should release approximately one egg each month. Once released, the egg travels into the fallopian tube.

There, it can be fertilized by the entry of a sperm. The fertilized egg then enters the uterus.

When a woman does not ovulate, no egg is available to be fertilized by sperm. As a result, a woman cannot become pregnant.

Women who are anovulatory have irregular, few or no periods.

What causes anovulation?

Something wrong with the signals that cause ovulation. What are those signals? They start in a woman’s brain. The brain has its own “calendar.” It knows how old you are, and it knows what time of month it is. It knows the time of your life for you to start ovulating and the time to stop -- and it knows the time of the month for you to ovulate.

The brain controls ovulation and menstrual periods through

ASK DOCTOR K Anthony L. Komaroff a group of hormones, natural substances made in the brain that travel between different parts of the brain and also travel through the blood to the ovaries and uterus.

Anovulation can occur for many reasons. For example, women who exercise intensely, for long periods of time, may not ovulate. Women who are anorexic or have a very low body mass index may also have irregular or absent periods. In both cases, it appears that the brain hormones that normally stimulate ovulation are “dialed down,” for reasons we don’t understand.

Another common cause of irregular periods is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Women with PCOS don’t ovulate normally.

That’s because the body doesn’t respond normally to the hormone insulin.

Anovulation can also be a sign of abnormal hormone levels.

Women who do not produce enough thyroid hormone may not ovulate normally. The same is true of women with high blood levels of prolactin. Prolactin is a hormone

normally produced in the brain that stimulates the breast to produce milk during breastfeeding.

Once your doctor identifies the reason why you are not ovulating, the problem often can be corrected. For example, if you have PCOS, your doctor may prescribe medications that improve insulin sensitivity. This, in turn, may improve your chances of ovulating and becoming pregnant.

Even if your doctor cannot correct an underlying cause, you may still be able to become pregnant. A medication like clomiphene (Clomid), for example, can stimulate your ovaries to produce eggs.

Even if you do not want to become pregnant, it is important to recognize anovulation and to speak with your doctor about it.

That’s because anovulation can also affect other areas of a woman’s health. Infrequent periods, for example, increase the risk of the bone-thinning disease osteoporosis.

When talking to your doctor, ask what you can do to build and preserve bone strength.

They report that by the age of 13, the average television viewer has witnessed 8,700 murders and over 160,000 violent acts on the tube!

Dr. Wallace: You always talk about the health problems attributed to smoking cigarettes, and the fear of cancer for smokers and non-smokers who breathe the secondhand smoke. But isn’t it also true that sometimes a person who has never smoked cigarettes or cigars and does not breathe secondhand smoke could still die of lung cancer?

However, according to The Cancer Society, if no one smoked, 83 percent of lung cancer would eventually be eliminated.

North, with an aceless wonder, should not be thinking about five diamonds unless South cannot bid no-trump.

Note that after that auction, West, knowing dummy has heart length, would be likely to lead his fourth-highest spade. Then South hurries to take the first 11 tricks: one spade, six diamonds and four clubs.

When North cue-bid two spades, South decided, debatably with such a good hand for diamonds, to rebid two no-trump.

Then North cue-bid again to ask if South really could control spades.

At the table, West led the spade seven, but he should have started with a high heart. He should have had a sense of urgency to take the first five tricks – and here East-West could have won the first six: five hearts and one spade.

JAMES K. GALE Born: April 5, 1937; in Morris Died: Aug. 30, 2014; in Wilmington James K. Gale, age 77, of Wilmington, passed away Saturday August 30, 2014, at his home.

Born April 5, 1937, in Morris, James Keith was a son of the late Keith and Mary Margaret (Cushing) Gale. He was raised in Morris until moving to Coal City his junior year of high school. He was a 1955 graduate of Coal City HS and went on to further his education at Western Illinois University.

In March of 1958, Jim was inducted in the US Army, where he served in the Pacific until being honorably discharged. On July 14, 1962, Jim married Aldeene Rink in St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and together they made their home and raised their family in Wilmington.

Jim worked as an IBEW #1942 Stewart and at Amoco Oil before returning to school in 1964 to become a real estate broker. Jim sold real estate throughout the area for more than 35 years, until retiring from Gale Real Estate, which he owned and operated.

He was a 26 year veteran of Will County politics and spent four years on the Wilmington City Council. As a County Board member, Jim served on the Capitol Improvements Committee, Finance and Operations Committee and the Will County Adult Entertainment Watchdog Group. Jim also served as a Commissioner on the Will County Forest Preserve, Chaired the Will County Land Use Committee and was appointed Chairman of the Joliet Arsenal Reuse Committee by former Congressman George Sangmeister. Jim helped to bring two business parks, a national tallgrass prairie and a national cemetery to his district. He supported the I&M Canal National Heritage Corridor project, and he served on the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Veterans Support Committee.

He was an active member of St. Rose Church in Wilmington, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, was on the board of directors of Galowich YMCA, was a member of the Wilmington Lions Club, charter member of the Coal City Area Club and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Wilmington Moose Lodge #241. Jim enjoyed

Joyce was united in marriage on July 26, 1955, to Mr. Joel E. Hage and they spent the next 52 happy years together until his passing on April 28, 2007. Mrs. Hage was formerly employed at the True Value Hardware Store in Oswego, IL. She was a member of Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville, IL. Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

By JESSICA BOURQUE jbourque@shawmedia.com MORRIS – Jetting down the Illinois River, soaking up the sunshine and eating homemade barbecue is how the Valderrama and Chaidez families of Morris spent their Monday holiday.

The families were able to spend most of Labor Day outside, enjoying Stratton Park, because thankfully, they had the day off.

“Most of the family got [Labor Day] off. That’s very rare for us, too,” Jose Chaidez said.

“We try to do something for it, whenever we can get family together.”

Exactly 120 years ago, lawmakers carved a national holiday out of the first Monday of September as a way to honor the achievements of American workers. But today, Labor Day is better known and celebrated as the unofficial last day of summer.

Although designated as a national holiday, many workers in the U.S. still spent their Labor Day working.

In downtown Morris, Sweet Tooth candy and ice cream shop was one of the lone local businesses that kept its doors open on the worker holiday.

“I know the kids are out of school and a lot of people like to come down and enjoy ice cream when they go down to the bike path and down by the river. If they don’t have anything, it’s kind of a bummer for them,” said Sweet Tooth owner Donna Ramirez.

Ramirez said she always stays open on Labor Day, partially because other businesses downtown are not and people need somewhere to go.

“I have a lot of people tell me that when I am open on days like this, ‘You’re a savior. You’re the only one open.

We needed something to drink. We’re so happy you are here,’ ” Ramirez said.

Ramirez said she does close a few hours early on Labor Day to allow for some relaxation time.

Alonso Chaidez, Alexa Chaidez and Luna Valderrama spent their Labor Day at Stratton Park in Morris, grilling and boating on the Illinois River with family.

New Lenox resident Cindy Powers came to Morris with her family to enjoy a kayak trip on the river, and said she wished every one could enjoy a the holiday without being

obligated to work.

“Like all holidays lately, it becomes all about shopping and buying things. People who have families and have these jobs where they have to

work on holidays should be able to stay home and enjoy some family time,” Powers said.

At Chapin Park, local mom Sarah Stainis said spending

time with her kids is the most important part of Labor Day, as most other holidays.

“It’s important to have it off. It’s about spending time with family,” she said.

MORRIS – It was an emotional Saturday morning for three Morris families who received surprise visits from Joliet Pink Heals and the Morris Fire Department.

The Pink Heals organization teamed with local firefighters to honor three Morris residents battling cancer – 7-year-old Mariah Diaz, 6-year-old Aubrey Brooks and the Morris fire department’s own, Ron Marx.

Traffic was stopped and neighbors were drawn out onto their lawns as a caravan of more than 10 fire trucks, ambulances and cars surprised each family by driving up with sirens blaring and lights flashing.

“When people hear the sirens, they look to see what’s going on, but to do it in these circumstances – who we’re doing it for and why we’re doing it – it just really brings it home,” said Morris firefighter Dave Ritter who helped organize Saturday’s Pink Heals visits.

The parade of emergency vehicles was led by the Joliet Pink Heals bubble gum-pink fire truck, which serves as a rolling memorial to area residents who have fought or are fighting cancer.

The truck was bought by the Joliet Pink Heals chapter last spring, and it was dedicated to the memory of 7-year-old Addi-

hard, two Morris residents who were visited by the Pink Heals truck last fall.

After adding their names to the truck, Diaz, Brooks and Marx were hugged by every member from the fire department.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for us, as the fire department, to give back to the community and show that we care and we’re here for them,” Ritter said. “We’re not just here for fire and EMS calls – we’re here for the community in every aspect we can possibly be.”

Parents of both Diaz and Brooks fought back tears as they watched their daughters embrace each firefighter.

By JEANNE MILLSAP Shaw Media Correspondent MORRIS – Jessica Jurak has inherited her physician father’s scientific mind. The Morris Community High School junior loves science and medicine and is considering a career in a related field.

She’s getting a good idea of what a health career involves, too, as president of the newly-formed Morris Hospital Explorer Post 4077.

“I love it,” she said, of the post. “We learn so much.”

So far, the post’s members have learned about hospital laboratory and pathology work, how to take vital signs, such as blood pressure, and the equipment inside ambulances and fire trucks, Jurak said.

“I was really interested in learning about the lab and pathology,” she said. “I want to see as much as I can about the different areas of medicine.”

She’s not just learning about medical careers. As the group’s president, she’s also getting experience in leader-

ship, organization and responsibility.

The Explorer post is a joint effort between Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers and Rainbow Council Boy Scouts of America. It began last spring by three hospital staff members – doctors David Vermillion and Douglas Toussaint and hospital president and CEO Mark Steadham, the post’s committee chairman.

“This gives young men and women a chance to literally explore many different aspects of health care,” Vermillion said.

Vermillion said Rainbow Council was considering an Explorer’s post centering on health care last year, and he thought it would be good for the students and the hospital.

He said he enjoys education – he’s also a Boy Scout merit badge counselor – and decided to become involved.

The post is open to anyone between the ages of 14 to 20 who is interested in exploring health care careers.

Explorers’ rotations include evenings in the hospital learning about nursing, radiology, X-ray technology, surgery and other areas. The group may also visit the coroner’s office and an area veterinarian, optometrist and dentist.

Their September rotation will include obstetrics and surgery at the hospital. Vermillion said they will tour an operating suite, do a surgical scrub and see what it’s like to hold surgical instruments while wearing gloves.

Toussaint said interested students first go through an orientation, where they tour the hospital and learn about safety and patient confidentiality. There are about 30 students in the program at this time.

The post was given the number “4077” after the television series, M*A*S*H, he said.

Rainbow Council already has posts in law enforcement, including ones with the Grundy County and Will County sheriff’s departments and several police departments, as well as a few fire safety posts, Rainbow Council Scout Executive Marc Ryan said.

Boy Scouts is the program provider for the Explorer program, Ryan said, but the explorers don’t earn badges or achieve advancement.

“We focus much more on exploration of careers,” he explained.

Janet Long, spokeswoman for Morris Hospital, said the hospital is happy to host the post.

“This is about young men and women who are interested in learning more about health care careers,” she said, “and we certainly are always happy to play a role in helping students at any age learn more about careers in the field. We hope that by exposing them

OPINION Rauner must be called out on lie “We should have billions of dollars every year as part of our budget process … [to] maintain and expand our infrastructure,” Bruce Rauner said last week, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Rauner has been doing his best to woo the road builders all year, and he was speaking to the Illinois Farm Bureau, which has lots of members who rely on roads and bridges to get their goods to market.

So I understand the practical politics of his bold promise.

But this stuff costs money.

Lots and lots and lots of money. And infrastructure is only his second priority. His top priority is education funding.

He wants to spend even more money on schools.

Yet, Rauner says he wants to slash the state’s income tax rate. Can he really do all that with lower revenues?

There are three ways to pay for these pie-in-the sky plans: 1) Gin up the state’s economy to North Dakota levels; 2) Stop making the full state pension payments; or 3) Increase state total taxation far above current levels.

Let’s examine all three, shall we?

1) Rauner has been saying all along that economic expansion is key to generating the revenue needed to pay for everything he wants to do.

Yes, Illinois’ jobless rate is down considerably over the last year. That’s good news.

But unless oil and natural gas “fracking” turns our state into another Saudi Arabia, there’s just no way Illinois can hit Rauner’s fantasy projections.

2) Resuming the state’s sad history of skipping or skimping on pension payments would likely result in a major bond rating downgrade, perhaps even to junk status.

That’s really not an option.

The other move would be to

VIEWS Rich Miller force local school districts to take over the state’s role of funding the teachers pension system. But Rauner has also proposed another amazing magical fantasy of capping local property taxes.

3) After assuring Republican primary voters that he’d slash taxes, the candidate now says he wants to gradually roll back the 2 percentage point, 2011 income tax hike over four years. That’s somewhere around $8 billion in lost annual revenue by his target date – about a 40 percent cut in current income tax receipts, and the personal and corporate income taxes account for a little over half of all state revenues.

Rauner’s proposed service tax would have to be ginormously bigger than the $450 million or so he’s advertised to cover a nut like that. And never mind that taxes on services will tend to drive down consumption, which reduces demand, which hurts economic growth, particularly at the middle and lower ends (see fantasy #1).

Say what you want about Gov. Pat Quinn, and I’ve said more than my share of negative things over the years, but at least he tries to live somewhere in the neighborhood of budgetary reality. In contrast, the new government spending that Bruce Rauner is proposing on the campaign trail transcends the political posturing we’ve grown accustomed to as Illinoisans.
