Survivors include her four sons, Craig (Denise) Wilber of Newburn, North Carolina; Mark Wilber and Michael Wilber, both of Seneca, and Russ (Theresa) Wilber of Verona; four grandchildren, Kelly, Rachel, Michelle and Eddie; one great grandchild: Aiden; her sister Helen (the late Melvin) Jackson of Wilmington, and several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; and three sons, Howard, John, and Brian in infancy.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. at 8:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington.

Funeral services will follow Thursday morning March 5th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Dr. Roy Backus officiating.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, where Elizabeth will be laid to rest with her husband Lloyd.

MORRIS – Grundy County State’s Attorney Jason Helland has announced that on Monday the grand jury returned the following indictments, according to a news release from Helland’s office. The public is advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

More than $2,000 raised at event

The Faculty’s win brings its total wins up to three, versus The Fuzz’s four.

Admittedly, The Fuzz was down several members, including one out with an injury, one called in to work and another out for a family emergency. But both teams played with gusto to raise money for a good cause.

The evening’s highlight was the game played by members of Special Connections before to The Fuzz and the Faculty. Special Connections is an organization with the goal of providing information and resources – as well as social, recreational and leisure opportunities – for the developmentally disabled community, from children to adults.

Its members were divided into two teams, white and red, with the red team overtaking the white team at the end, 1412. Jake Yandell said he had a good time playing and came away with a few points.

“I have fun getting to play here for charity,” he said.

“I like to shoot hoops and run back and forth and shoot free throws,” said Jill Briones, who played on the white team.

MORRIS – Although The Fuzz scored the first points of the basketball game – a 3-point shot – and had the lead at halftime, with 24 points to the Faculty’s 22, it was the Faculty that pulled out the win in the end, 53-32.

“Our numbers were definitely the key,” said Faculty coach Jeff Johnson regarding the number of players on the team. “We were able to wear them down. But the win is less important than playing for a great cause. We love being a part of this.”

The seventh annual basketball game between the Morris Community High School faculty and staff at the Morris police and Grundy County sheriff’s departments was held Saturday night in the Morris Community High School gym.

More than $2,000 was raised at the event for Special Connections of Grundy County and Illinois Special Olympics, Morris Police Chief Brent Dite said Monday.

“We were shooting pretty well the first half, but the second half was a different story,” said The Fuzz coach Derek Zumbahlen, “but this was all about benefiting the Special Olympics and our Special Connections of Grundy County.

Watching them play was the best part.”

The Fuzz fell to the Faculty in Saturday night’s charity game at Morris Community High School.

Briones also participates in track, bocce and bowling and has won medals at Special Olympics. Her parents, Jerry and Jackie, attended to cheer her on.

“Special Connections gives them an opportunity to participate in sports,” Jackie said.

Special Connections Executive Director Kelly Thompson said the game is a great way for the community to see what the organization is all about and what good athletes it has.

“They love this game,” Thompson said of the charity event. “There’s nothing better than playing at home in front of their fans and families. We wouldn’t be Special Connections without the community.”

And the community supported the cause. Mark Yachasz, Jasmine’s father, won $236 in the 50/50 raffle and gave it all to Special Connec-

tions. The high school band played, with members joined by band members from Saratoga and Shabbona schools as well as others in the community.

Poms alumni were there as well, getting together as a group for the first time since their graduations. They performed on the sidelines and at half. Sarah Balluff and Stacey Hutchcraft, 2001 pom members, said it was fun to learn the dances again after so many years.

LOCAL NEWS Anthony proposes bill to combat heroin Authorities have liability and antidote training cost concerns

By HEIDI LITCHFIELD hlitchfield@shawmedia.com SPRINGFIELD – A 240page, bipartisan, $25 million bill sponsored by House Democratic Deputy Majority Leader Louis Lang, D-Skokie, and state Rep. John Anthony, R-Plainfield, was proposed Monday in an effort to combat the state’s heroin crisis.

by Anthony said expert testimony at heroin task force hearings showed the over-prescription of opioid painkillers has unleashed the heroin epidemic in Illinois.

Painkillers are composed of the same powerful and addictive chemicals as heroin, which is cheaper.

Anthony noted the plan seeks to protect doctors from patients who are “pill shoppers” by increasing reporting of opioid prescriptions.

“We need to arm doctors with more information and protect them against patients who are pill shoppers,” Anthony said in the news release.

The legislation would prohibit pharmacies from dispensing more than a 10-day supply of opioid drugs.

Additional requirements would be set for doctors to determine addiction tendencies before prescribing painkillers and would require additional authorization when ordering more than a 10-day supply. Lang said the legislation will allow doctors flexibility. “A doctor may pre-authorize a larger supply if he or she describes on the prescription to a pharmacist the medical reason for the larger supply,” Lang said in the news release. “We don’t want to tie a doctor’s hands if a good medical reason exists, but we want to curb over-prescription.”

Another goal of the legislation is to require drugs used for combating heroin overdoses, such as Narcan, be dispensed more widely by those trained to administer it, including all state and local government agencies that employ law enforcement officers and firefighters.

Chief Brent Dite said the matter has been discussed locally, but Morris police do not carry Narcan.

“A lot of thought needs to go into the decision,” Dite said. “We aren’t medical professionals. We are trained to use AEDs, yes, but this is different.”

He said he believes within Morris, where his police department responds, officers have the advantage of a fire department and ambulance that respond quickly, at times beating officers to a scene.

He said the fire department carries Narcan. Dite sees the need for officers carrying Narcan being greater in remote areas, where response is slower.

Grundy County Sheriff Kevin Callahan said his department does not carry Narcan, but he can see how it would benefit a department that covers a broad area.

“My only concern is that our deputies aren’t trained, so how would we fund the training as well as the drug,” Callahan said.

Both Dite and Callahan questioned the liability their officers might face when deciding to administer Narcan.

The proposed measure also would require coroners to report deaths due to drug overdoses to the Department of Public Health. Pharmacies would be designated as sites to take back unused prescriptions, which the Grundy County Coroner’s office does locally.

To help family and friends potentially save the life of a loved one struggling with a heroin addiction and who is at risk of a heroin overdose, the lawmakers want to make overdose antidotes available to the public.

The legislation requires the medical director of the Department of Public Health to write a standing order for the dispensation of antidotes, such as injectable naltrexone, by pharmacists who are willing, to people who may or may not be at risk for an opioid overdose, according to the news release.

“Police and other emergency first responders may not always be able to reach a heroin overdose victim when life-saving minutes matter,” Anthony, a former police officer, said in the release.

Additionally, the bill would require injectable naltrexone to be covered in Illinois’ Medicaid medical assistance program for the treatment of alcohol depen-

dence or the prevention of a relapse to opioid dependence, Lang said.

This legislation was introduced a few weeks after Gov. Bruce Rauner’s first proposed budget, which calls for a reduction of money for human services, including cuts to Medicaid and substance abuse programs.

YORKVILLE – People can support Special Olympics athletes by jumping into the waters of Loon Lake at Silver Springs State Park in Yorkville at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The funds raised from the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge will benefit Special Olympics Illinois, which serves athletes with intellectual disabilities.

All Polar Plungers are required to collect a minimum

of $75 in donations. Check-in begins at 11 a.m. at Kendall County Fairgrounds, according to a news release. Plungers and spectators will be bused to the Silver Springs State Park and back.

By JEANNE MILLSAP Shaw Media Correspondent CHANNAHON – Sitting for an acupuncture treatment was probably the last thing Morris resident Kelly Petry had on her mind when she attended Family Fest 2015 on Saturday morning, but that’s exactly what she got.

“I didn’t even feel it,” she said as a tiny needle was placed in the right side of her neck.

Petry did feel a little pinch as an identical needle was positioned in the top of her left arm, but she said it wasn’t bad. Three Wells Acupuncture Clinic, located in the Baum Building in Morris, was giving out free mini-acupuncture sessions at the event.

Family Fest was organized by the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Executive Director Caroline Portlock said the festival, held in the gym of Minooka Community High School’s South Campus, is a consumer expo designed to show area residents services and products available in the community, while also giving kids something fun to do.

Three-year-old twins Evan and Elise Petrick of Channahon were absorbed by Plainfield Boy Scout Troop 91’s pinewood derby race track.

They got to choose the cars to race and even got to push the button that released the little handmade vehicles down the track.

“They’re having a blast,” said their mother, Laura. “It’s nice to come out, especially since it’s so cold.”

Agency relocates into Morris building almost fives times larger than its last MORRIS DAILY HERALD MORRIS – We Care of Grundy County has officially moved into its new location, where more space will allow the organization to add a clothes closet to the community services it provides.

On Saturday, We Care moved from its previous 3,500-square-foot home at 520 W. Illinois Ave. in the Canalport Community Center, to its new location at 530 Bedford Road in Morris. The organization will have 18,000 square feet, according to a We Care news release.

For weeks, We Care has advertised the need for volunteers, trucks and trailers to help with the move.

More than 50 people showed up to volunteer Saturday morning, and enough vehicles were available that no vehicle had to make the trip twice.

All the food pantry and office equipment made it to the new facility with just one load per vehicle. Executive Director Denise Gaska thanked all the volunteers who showed up to help.

“We had no idea how many people would come, as some called us to let us know, but we knew others would just show up. We were so pleased to see such a huge turnout. We started at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday and the move was complete by 10:45 a.m. We would especially like to thank Larry Zazeski and the crew of people he organized to help from LyondellBasell,” she said in the release. “They

Waters Moving and Storage assisted with moving two commercial coolers, and Stott Contractors and Dean Devine also provided flatbeds to move its chest freezers.

“Our volunteers, Jerry Mersch, Bob Garcia, Kathy Osterling and Ruby Matteson also played lead roles in organizing the rest of the volunteers. It really takes a village to move a food pantry,” Gaska said.

Dwight nurse selected as hospital Fire Starter of the Month MORRIS DAILY HERALD MORRIS – Ever since she was a little girl, Amy Olson of Dwight remembers her grandfather telling her she should be a nurse.

It’s a good thing Olson followed her grandfather’s advice. Besides being an excellent nurse who makes it a top priority to keep patients and visitors safe, happy and informed, Olson’s knowledge and expertise have made her a role model charge nurse on the 2 East/Pediatrics unit at Morris Hospital.

For these reasons, Olson was selected as Morris Hospital’s January Fire Starter of the Month, according to a news release from the hospital.

“Amy always gives 110 percent, is extremely thorough, and is a perfect example of service excellence,” wrote co-worker Jessica Leschewski in nominating Olson. “She is always available to give her time to co-workers and is extremely knowledgeable with order entry, patient care and physician preferences. She has been a Fire Starter since my first day working with her.

I look up to her as a person and

strive to be at her level as a nurse.”

A native of LaSalle-Peru, Olson graduated from nursing school in 2001 and joined the team at Morris Hospital intending to work in medical-surgical nursing for just a year. She left in 2005 to work in obstetrics at another hospital.

It took only 10 weeks for Olson to realize medical-surgical nursing was her calling, and she returned to Morris Hospital.

“I realized I like the diversity of the patient population in med-surg,” Olson said in the release. “Especially on 2 East at Morris Hospital, we get to take care of all different types of patients, from infants who are just a couple days old to seniors over 100 years old.”

Olson also discovered she has a knack for serving as charge nurse, a role that’s now her primary one on the afternoon shift. She enjoys being a resource person who has the opportunity to help out everyone around her.

A deadline Rauner should have missed A rookie mistake has led to some big problems.

House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton both believed that Gov. Bruce Rauner would ask to postpone the scheduled Feb. 18 budget address.

The current fiscal year’s outlook was so incredibly dire (by the Democrats’ own making), that the veteran Democratic leaders figured Rauner would want to first tackle that problem before moving on to the mess in next fiscal year’s budget, which begins July 1.

Rauner declined, declaring that a deadline was a deadline.

Rauner claimed during his budget address that a deal on the current fiscal year’s problem was just “days away.”

Madigan agreed with the governor’s prediction immediately after the speech.

In reality, though, the governor’s address undercut his negotiating stance so badly that Cullerton told Reuters two days later that the negotiations had gone completely off the rails.

Then Rauner revealed that he wanted to do pretty much exactly the same thing in the coming year’s budget as this year’s, and the bitter pill of those cuts woke up legislators to some very harsh realities.

By now, you know the litany. Slashing municipal revenue sharing in half, eliminating a $165 million state heating-assistance program funded by utility ratepayers, cutting higher education’s funding by 31 percent, seriously chopping Medicaid reimbursements to hospitals, pharmacies and nursing homes, not to mention the long list of cuts to relatively tiny social service programs added by individual legislators over the years.

VIEWS Rich Miller to allow Rauner to do some of that this fiscal year, but letting him do it again next fiscal year would be dangerously close to making those drastic cuts permanent. What we have here are two seemingly diametrically opposed philosophies. On the one hand, Rauner wants to permanently cut sacred cow programs to start aligning state revenues with state expenditures. And he was possibly silent on new revenues as a way to force the Democrats to make the first move on that front.

On the other hand, the Democrats see Rauner’s deep and drastic cuts as an irresponsible way to fund an unaffordable Jan. 1 income tax reduction, which mainly benefits the well off. And they want the governor to propose some revenue ideas before they’re willing to entertain any cuts to this fiscal year’s budget or next. In other words, while Rauner’s budget was most definitely a punt to the General Assembly, the legislative Democrats appear to have just punted the ball right back to the guy. Show us some revenue alternatives, they’re saying, and maybe we’ll talk.

But you go first.

So, if the rookie governor had just put off that budget address by a couple weeks or so, he might have solved this fiscal year’s real problems and survived to fight another battle over next fiscal year’s problems. Instead, we’re looking at possible gridlock.

By CURT HERRON cherron@shawmedia.com BLOOMINGTON – After experiencing a memorable season in so many respects, it only seemed appropriate Coal City’s wrestling team would capture a state trophy.

The Coalers capped their first trip to state since 1999 by claiming third place in Saturday’s Class 1A dual-team finals at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Coach Mark Masters’ squad defeated Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, 40-31, to capture the school’s first trophy since 1998.

“We wrestled about as well as we could wrestle,” Masters said. “We’ve been consistent the whole season and have progressively gotten better each week, and the kids stayed focused. I was concerned after the individual tournament because kids accomplish goals, and it can be a letdown – but our seniors didn’t allow that.

“This might be a once-in-alifetime senior class. You had two kids who are three-time finalists and three state champs out of those two guys, and we had another all-stater, so it will be tough to replace them.

The kids have been having success, but we’ve always been missing something, and today kind of filled that empty spot.”

In the finale against G-CMS, Riley Kauzlaric (195 pounds) and Jake Frost (220) got things started with falls; and Jake Hiles (106), Joey Rivera (113) and Cody Minnick (126) followed later with pins.

Corey Jurzak (138) also won by fall and Jonah Englert (152) won a major decision.

“This is awesome,” Frost said. “After individuals was over, I had my mind set on coming here and getting a trophy, and we did it. Hopefully, the wrestling program grows for Coal City and gets better

Graduate filled multiple roles in 2014, confident about 2nd year STAFF REPORTS ROSEMONT – Chicago Bandits general manager Aaron M. Moore announced Monday that the team has agreed to terms with pitcher/first baseman Kirsten Verdun to return to the team for a second season.

Verdun is a Coal City graduate who led the Coalers to the 2010 IHSA Class 2A state championship.

“Kirsten is a player that we had a chance to watch many times during her career at DePaul, and one thing that always stood out, besides her impressive numbers, was her competitiveness,” Moore said.

“That is something that she brought to the Bandits as well and it made a statement in the clubhouse.

“We look forward to having her back this season. She will have opportunities to make an impact in our lineup and we’re confident she will deliver when called upon.”

Verdun will be looked at to fill a dual role again in 2015.

She will compete for playing time at pitcher, designated player and first base.

In her first season with the Bandits, Verdun made an impact in limited opportunities, both in the circle and at the plate.

The first professional win of her career came in a complete game outing against the Pennsylvania Rebellion.

In the win, she allowed four runs on two hits with one strikeout.

In 25 innings in her rookie campaign, she allowed only 17 runs, tying her with Sara Moulton for the lowest on the team, while leading all Bandits pitchers in fewest hits against with 25.

At the plate, Verdun recorded a .333 batting average with five RBIs and two runs scored.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to play another summer for the Bandits,” Verdun said. “I look forward to a great season with my teammates and the chance to contribute both on the mound and at the plate.”

Verdun signed with the Bandits in 2014 by way of open tryouts. Named the 2011 Big East Rookie of the Year at DePaul, she became the only pitcher in program history to accumulate 900 innings, 900 strikeouts and 100 wins.

“I guess when it rains, it pours,” veteran guard Kirk Hinrich said Monday. “We can’t sit around feeling sorry for ourselves. Nobody else is going to. We’ve got to find a way.”

After announcing Friday that guard Derrick Rose would be out at least four weeks after having surgery to repair the medial meniscus in his right knee and losing forward Taj Gibson to an injured left ankle that night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Bulls learned Monday that All-Star

guard Jimmy Butler has a sprained ulnar ligament and a small bone-impaction injury in his left elbow that will sideline him for three to six weeks.

“It’s our reality,” coach Tom Thibodeau said when he was asked about being down a former MVP (Rose), a Sixth Man of the Year finalist (Gibson) and a first-time All-Star (Butler). “We’ve got more than enough to get it done. Just find a way to win. Whoever is out there, just get the job done.

Know what your job is and go out there and get it done.”

The Bulls have grown accustomed to playing short-handed in recent seasons. They are 4-1 without Butler, 8-3 without Gibson and 8-6 without Rose

this season. Those stats show the Bulls’ depth, but they haven’t been without all three in a game this season.

And if there is one player they really wouldn’t have wanted to be without for a long period of time, it was Butler because of what he does on both ends of the floor.

“It’s not just his scoring,” Thibodeau said. “He’s obviously grown every year. He’s a primary scorer. He’s a great two-way player, great defender. We have some other guys who are coming on. As has been the case in the past, whenever someone gets hurt, it’s an opportunity for someone else to grow and have the opportunity to play. [Tony

Snell is] coming on. [Nikola Mirotic is] coming on. Those are pluses.”

There’s no denying that.

But Snell and Mirotic aren’t averaging 20.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.73 steals, as well as guarding elite scorers game in and game out.

“That’s been the common question,” Hinrich said when he was asked how he and his teammates could get over a third injury in the past four days. “But Jimmy this year, he’s played huge minutes. He’s a two-way player, an All-Star.

He’s just having an unbelievable year. It’s a huge loss, but we’ve kind of been through this before.”

Thibodeau said the treat-

ment for Butler is rest. When he was asked if surgery was a possibility, Thibodeau said, “I don’t believe so.”

Snell and Mirotic will be asked to pick up the scoring in Butler’s absence, and Hinrich is the best backcourt defender left. But the Bulls do have roster space for an addition, and Thibodeau said that avenue would be explored.

“I’m sure (general manager) Gar (Forman) and (vice president of basketball operations) John (Paxson) are looking at all the possibilities,” Thibodeau said. “If something makes sense, we’ll do it. They’re always looking around to see what’s available.”

Middle now not Hawks’ only strength moving into next season

By MARK LAZERUS mlazerus@suntimes.com The Los Angeles Kings didn’t break any new ground last season when they won the Stanley Cup with unrivaled depth down the middle – a quartet of quality centers who were reliable in their own end, effective on the attack and strong at the faceoff dot.

But they sure hammered home the point that it all starts at the pivot.

“Last year, they were the deepest team in the middle, and they did pretty good in the playoffs,” deadpanned Hawks center Marcus Kruger.

So maybe it’s a bit extreme to say the Hawks are emulating the Kings. But it’s no exaggeration to say the Hawks are significantly better down the middle than they were a year ago, and comparable to the 2014 Kings. The Hawks opened last season’s playoffs with Jonathan Toews, Michal Handzus, Andrew Shaw and Kruger at center.

This year, they likely will open with Toews, Antoine Vermette, Brad Richards and Kruger, with Handzus in Europe, Shaw back at his natural spot as a winger and Teuvo Teravainen waiting for an opportunity.

Offensively, defensively and at the faceoff dot, it’s a massive leap in the right direction.

“On paper, it looks really good,” Kruger said with a laugh. Adding Richards over the summer was key. Adding Vermette on Saturday – without giving up a roster player, no less – was huge. Adding feisty center Andrew Desjardins from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for struggling Ben Smith two hours before Monday’s deadline gave Joel Quenneville even more options, while freeing up more than $1 million of cap space moving forward. It doesn’t hurt that Vermette, Kruger and Teravainen are versatile enough to play wing in a pinch, too.

“The center ice position is very important for us,” Hawks general manager Stan Bowman said. “I think you can never have too many guys. … It’s probably the strongest we’ve been at the center position in many years.”

Vermette didn’t want to make any bold predictions on his first day in a Hawks uniform, but is excited about the possibilities.

“It’s something your a lot of times, it’s a key position,” he said. “It seems to go that way with a successful team. I don’t

want to make comparisons with other teams, but I think this represents a pretty good team.”

It was an unusually aggressive deadline for Bowman, but it came under unusual circumstances – Patrick Kane suffered a broken clavicle six days before the deadline, spurring the cautious GM to action.

He bolstered a struggling and injury-riddled defense with four-time all-star Kimmo Timonen. He landed the top rental forward on the market in Vermette. And he added Desjardins to the mix by moving the popular, but struggling, Smith, who had no points in his last 25 games, and who was twice a healthy scratch in the past three weeks.

All the Hawks gave up was Smith, prospect Klas Dahlbeck and four draft picks over the next three years – some of which they expect to recoup when making cap moves after the season.

“We obviously like the group here,” Bowman said.

“They’ve accomplished a lot as a group. You’re trying to give them a boost and add to the group. … We [got] three new faces to give our group some excitement, and push for the playoffs.”

And after a long week deal-

ing with the Kane injury, suffering a disheartening shutout loss to Tampa Bay and shooting down the swirling rumors about Patrick Sharp and the

alleged discord within the dressing room, the Hawks got a big lift from the deadline – down the middle, and between the ears.

Thankfully, a family member was a bone marrow match.

Can you tell me what to expect during my bone marrow transplant procedure?

Dear Reader: A bone marrow transplant can be a life-saving treatment. To understand how it works, you need to understand how blood cells are created. And what leukemia is.

Your blood contains red and white blood cells. There are several types of white blood cells, which are a key part of your immune system. All your blood cells are made by blood stem cells, which live primarily in the spongy center of your big bones.

In the years before you got leukemia, each of your blood

When you developed leukemia, genetic changes in some white blood cells suddenly kept them from dying. As a result, the number of that type of white blood cell kept growing. An ideal treatment would kill just the cancerous white blood cells, and allow noncancerous new cells to replace them. The ideal treatment has not been discovered. Bone marrow transplant, while less than ideal, is such an

important advance that it was honored with the Nobel Prize.

In a bone marrow transplant, all of your white blood cells – healthy and cancerous – are killed by drugs, radiation or both. Then healthy blood stem cells are infused into your blood. Those cells find their way to your bone marrow, and start to make healthy new red and white blood cells. The new cells will multiply. I’ve put an illustration of the transplant process on my website, askdoctork.com.

The healthy blood stem cells may be collected from your blood, before the main radiation or chemotherapy begins. The cells are treated to remove any cancer cells, and then stored until the transplant.

In your case, the healthy blood stem cells will come from another person (a donor). The donor’s cells must be a good “match” for you – this means certain markers on their cells and your cells are as similar as possible. This reduces the risk that the cells will be rejected by your body.

Bone marrow transplants are usually used to treat leukemia, lymphomas, Hodgkin’s disease and multiple myeloma, because these cancers affect the bone marrow directly. The procedure is also used for some noncancerous conditions, such as sickle cell anemia.

You will stay in the hospital for several weeks after the transplant. Until your bone marrow cells multiply to a

certain level, you will be at increased risk of infection. Other serious risks include severe bleeding, liver problems and increased risk of developing another cancer.

Another possible problem is that cells from a donor might not match your cells well enough and the new donor cells will begin attacking the cells of your body.

This is called graft-versushost disease. You will take medications to reduce the risk of this happening. Despite the dangers, bone marrow transplantation is usually successful.

PUBLIC NOTICE 1DIVISION 0 - BIDDING AND CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS Section 00020 Notice To Bidders Sealed bids for the 2015 Electrical Work at Gardner-South Wilmington High School, will be received by the Board of Education, GardnerSouth Wilmington High School District 73, at their 500 East Main Street, Gardner, Grundy County, Illinois, until 2:00 P.M. prevailing time on the 12th day of March, 2014. Bids will be opened and read aloud at that time.

The work is to be performed in accordance with the proposed Contract Documents as prepared by Healy, Bender & Associates, Inc., Architects-Planners, 4040 Helene Avenue, Naperville, Illinois. The proposed Contract Documents may be obtained by request to the Architect.

Upon receipt of a completed Registered Plan Holder Record form and a Bidding Documents License Agreement, prospective bidders will become registered plan holders.

During the bidding period, the office of the Architect will send project addenda, clarifications, and other project information to registered plan holders via the email address (es) listed on the Registered Plan

Holder Record on file at the Architect's office.

These proposed Contract Documents may be studied at the office of the Architect or at the following locations: Contractors Association of Will and Grundy Counties Plan Room, 233 N. Springfield Avenue, Joliet, Illinois.

These documents may also be viewed online at the McGraw-Hill Construction - Dodge internet site at www.dodge.construction.com.

Bids will be received on General Contract Work, including all trades.

BIDDER RESPONSIBILITY Each Bidder must satisfactorily complete the Bidder Responsibility process described in Section 01000, Bidder Responsibility Criteria of the Project Manual by providing the required Documents.

In the case of a joint venture or partnership, each joint venturer or partner must independently meet each of the requirements set forth in Paragraphs 1.02, 1.03, 1.04 and 1.05 in Section 01000 - Bidder Responsibility Criteria.

The required Documents must be delivered along with the bidder's sealed bid at the same place and time required for the bid. Contents of each bidder's Responsibility Criteria Documents will be available for public review.

The Bidder Responsibility Documents will be reviewed by the Owner and Architect to determine the lowest responsible Bidder.

Each bid must be accompanied by a Bid Guarantee in the form of a Bid Bond, in an amount equal to not less than ten percent (10%), of the bid and made payable to Gardner-South Wilmington High School District 73, 500 East Main Street, Gardner, Grundy County, Illinois.

No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days after the bids opening date without the consent of the Owner.

Successful bidder must provide a Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond in the full amount of the Contract, acceptable to the Owner.

The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in bidding.
