Grundy is home of the generous MORRIS – Grundy County is the home of unparalleled generosity.

I know most people think their community is special – why else would they live there? – but I truly believe that our county is filled with the most kind, caring and generous people I’ve ever met.

As we move toward the holiday season we will start to see bell ringers outside WalMart collecting money for We Care of Grundy County. We’ll listen into the local radio station and hear people bid at an auction that will provide Christmas for countless children through Operation St. Nick.

This isn’t what sets us apart; there are bell ringers in most towns, and food pantries will hand out turkeys, and organizations like The Salvation Army will step in and get toys to those in need.

What makes this community different is that this behavior happens all year.

Countless community members give up a few hours of sleep each night to volunteer at the local PADS shelter

COMMUNITY PULSE Heidi Litchfield so those without homes have a warm place to sleep. They do this from October to April every year.

Local people will host fundraisers to help their neighbor, friend or family member as they face hardships, whether it be cancer or the loss of a home to a fire.

This past year, thousands lined up to help dig their neighbors in Coal City out from under mounds of tornado debris.

Many of those same people were in Diamond two years ago digging those residents out from the tornado that destroyed their homes.

The people who have been on the receiving end of the generosity are often the first in line to help the next person when they need it.

I’ve talked to many who have moved to the area over the years for work or to be closer to family, and while

they can’t put into words what is so special about the community, they sense it almost immediately.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, for the year ending September 2014, 25 percent of Americans volunteer for organizations.

As I sat thinking about this number, it means one in every four of my friends, or one in every four of my neighbors, should be volunteering to be at the national average.

Maybe I’m just blessed with really awesome giving friends and neighbors, but when I sit and look at the neighbors I know and speak to every day, we’re above average, with 75 percent volunteering at least once a year and 50 percent volunteering on a more regular basis.

When I look at my closest local friends, we are at 100 percent for donating time or money to local causes at least once a year, with most giving on a regular basis.

As the holiday approaches, I’d like to give our readers a challenge.

Let’s blow that 25 percent

national level out of the water – let’s aim for 100 percent. If you haven’t volunteered or donated yet this year, please take a look around the community and see where your help is needed.

Most of us have something we are passionate about: children, reading, food, homelessness. Whatever it is that you feel passionate about, reach out and see how that passion can benefit someone else.

Bake some cookies for a neighbor, offer to help rake the yard of your elderly neighbor or once the snow comes – and it is coming – offer to shovel the walk at church, at an elderly person’s house or at the home of a single parent who has their hands full.

The Morris Hospital Auxiliary annual charity gala kicked off a future for fundraising

By HEIDI LITCHFIELD hlitchfield@shawmedia.com MORRIS – The ballroom at Jennifer’s Garden Banquet and Convention Center in Morris was filled with an air of mystery Saturday night as some of the attendees at this year’s annual Morris Hospital Auxiliary Gala circled the auction tables with masks attached firmly in place.

The theme of this masquerade gala was “Unmasking the Heart.” Its goal was to help raise funds for a new youth cardiac screening program called “Rhythm of our Youth.”

In a video presented during the auction, the 400 attendees heard from Brenda Walsh, a nurse at Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers, about the need for children to have access to an EKG. She spoke about her son, Kaleb Justice Beck, who – at age 14 – died in his home of sudden cardiac arrest.

“When I got home he hadn’t been out of his room,” Walsh said in the video. “I went into his room and I found him dead.”

Walsh said an autopsy found he died of sudden cardiac arrest shortly after he woke up. There were no signs anything was wrong. She now defines her life as “when Kaleb was alive” and “life after Kaleb.”

“He was a big, funny part of life,” Walsh said.

Jori Christensen, director of cardiovascular services and education, said staff started talking about finding ways to test the county’s youth about 18 months ago.

“We called the Young Hearts for Life program to find out if they would be able to test kids at our local high schools,” Christensen said, “but they said they didn’t test outside of their area.”

Marek’s program is wellknown for its unique model that uses trained community volunteers to deliver a lowcost, efficient screening program.

“We hope to have the program up and running by the fall of 2016,” Christensen said.

The program will be available to high school students at no cost to students or their parents.

It consists of a three-minute EKG, which a cardiologist will read to determine if a medical issue exists that requires a physician’s care.

Veterans honored at home Veterans Day is more than a day off of work or school.

It is a day set aside to thank veterans, those living and those who have died. It is held each year on Nov. 11. Events often take place at 11 a.m.

During World War I, fighting ceased when an armistice between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

While World War I didn’t officially end until the Treaty of Versailles was signed June 28, 1919, the date of the armistice is generally considered the end of war.

In November 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Nov. 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day. On June 1, 1954, Nov. 11 became a day to honor American veterans of all wars when Congress amended the act changing the name from Armistice Day to Veterans Day.

3 French Hens Holiday Market attracts thousands

Shaw Media Correspondent MORRIS – With hands full, Donna Engel, Channahon, and Carolyn Kinsella, Seneca, took their first load of holiday purchases to the car, locked the doors and headed back in for more.

“I’m going to be in so much trouble with my husband because I have bought so many things already,” Engel said.

“But, this is a fun ladies night out and the outside part added a fun festive flair.”

On Friday and Saturday, an estimated 4,000 people came out to the Grundy County Fairgrounds for the 6th annual 3 French Hens Holiday Market, a winter wonderland of twinkling white lights, Christmas carols, and people of all ages sipping hot chocolate and seeking special holiday items.

Traci Tessone and Monica Vogel have coordinated the event since its birth.

Tessone said it has been at the fairgrounds for the past three years due to its growth and that more tents were added this year due to late registrations.

“Last year we had 115 vendors at the market and this year we have over 150 vendors,” Tessone said.

Booths were set up inside several of the enclosed buildings. Full tents were erected to house vendors.

Thousands of shoppers filed into the Grundy County Fairground building and tents Friday and Saturday for the sixth annual 3 French Hens Holiday Market. peratures dipped into the 30s by 6 p.m. but that did not deter lines of shoppers waiting to get into the grounds.

Tessone said the Friday night event opened at 4 p.m. for the first 100 shoppers. The fee was $25, but that did include a gift tote and first dibs on the items.

After that, entry fees were $10 on Friday and $5 on Saturday.

Friday night’s early entry was perfect for people who don’t like to navigate thousands of people and who do wish to patronize their favorite vendors first, Tessone said.

“So we offer them that private hour,” Tessone said, “and had 100 take advantage of it

this year,” Tessone said.

The vendors ranged from food, reclaimed wood crafts, antique Christmas items, crochet accessories, jewelry, local businesses, kids and doll clothes, and more.

“This is social Christmas shopping,” Kinsella said. “I can get things here that I will never find anywhere else.”

Lee Parrott and Yoni Espinoza of Romeoville find old wood and tools. Parrott said this is the only vendor show the pair attends during the year because of its success.

“We came last year and we had a lot of success with sales and respect and positive feedback from our customers,” Parrott said.

Library speaker to talk on rum’s role in history

The smooth, sweet liquor found in our daiquiris, mojitos and rum and cokes hasn’t always been the mild-mannered liquor known today.

The history of its creation, trade and consumption is intertwined with revolution, high commerce, medical discoveries and even pirates. We all know the phrase, “Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.”

Food historian Cynthia Clampitt will give a presentation Tuesday at the Morris Area Public Library called “How Rum Changed the World” , which will share the intriguing history of the liquor.

Rum, according to Clampitt, has gone from being a 160-proof method of disinfecting bad water, to a liquor that was the biggest drink in England and North America, to a versatile mixer at bars and parties and in late night hot toddies.

It all began in the West Indies, after early European explorers found the islands had the perfect climate for the growth of sugar cane. Sugar previously was obtained in India with the spice trade.

Several things made rum popular from the beginning.

“First of all,” Clampitt said, “there was no safe drinking water ... and it was incredibly inexpensive to make. It used molasses back then, which

They dumped [the molasses] in the ocean.”

Molasses itself wasn’t in demand. When it was stored in hot weather, it tended to ferment.

Eventually, it was discovered that fermentation of molasses wasn’t a bad thing – and rum was born.

“Rum became very popular in trade,” Clampitt said.

“It followed sugar wherever it went.”

With the rum trade, the Caribbean became the economic center of the world, she said, but there also was pirate traffic.

The islanders found that giving the navy free rum kept its ships near the islands.

Clampitt said in her presentation she also will tell stories about how rum helped unite the original 13 colonies, how it sparked the American Revolution and how it even played a role in a revolt in Australia.

She also will bring recipes for Martha Washington’s rum punch and hot buttered rum.

Family Reading Night aims to entertain many

By MIKE MALLORY mmallory@shawmedia.com CHANNAHON – People can read entire books off of a handheld electronic device.

But the Three Rivers Public Library District is keeping it traditional, at least for one night. The library is hosting its annual Family Reading Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at 25207 W. Channon Drive.

Although the library constantly evolves with modern programs and technologies to meet the needs of its patrons, spokeswoman Jennifer Lyons said, programs such as Family Reading Night provide enrichment for the entire family that huddling around a smartphone may not.

In the many family programs that Three Rivers offers, parents often are encouraged to stay with their children, and in this case, there is no Family Reading Night without both parents or guardians and children.

Nancy Irsay, 2nd wife of late Colts owner, dies at 65 The ASSOCIATED PRESS CARMEL, Ind. – Nancy Irsay, the second wife of late Indianapolis Colts owner Robert Irsay, has died. She was 65.

An obituary on the website of Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Franklin said she died Nov. 7. A representative of the mortuary said the cause of death was not being released.

Nancy Irsay married Robert Irsay in 1989, five years after he moved the Colts to Indianapolis from Baltimore. After his 1997 death, she fought with his son, current Colts owner Jim Irsay, over his estate until a settlement in which she received a horse farm and other properties and Jim Irsay got the Colts.

Girls, boys basketball seasons ready to begin VIEWS Rob Oesterle It doesn’t seem possible.

Just a few weeks ago, the fall sports season was in full swing.

Now, for all of our area teams and competitors, it’s over. It’s time for the winter sports to begin.

Usually, there is some sort of overlap between the fall and winter seasons. A football team or two will make a deep playoff run and reach the quarterfinals or semifinals, as was the case last year for both Morris and Coal City.

This year, however, was a different story.

The two local football playoff entries – Coal City and Minooka – each lost in the first round, and there are no other fall sports running into winter sports schedules.

The Morris girls begin play Monday in the Prairie Central Tournament, taking on Mahomet-Seymour at 6 p.m. Also hitting the court Monday are Newark and Seneca in the Somonauk Breakout Tournament, as well as Gardner-South Wilmington hosting Manteno in a nonconference game before the Panthers take part in the Lexington Tournament that starts Tuesday.

Coal City hosts Plainfield North on Tuesday in nonconference action before starting the Beecher Tournament on Friday against Bremen.

Minooka starts up Friday in the Lyons Tournament, taking on the host school in the opener.

There could be some pretty good seasons put together by a number of area girls basketball teams. Minooka and Newark look to have the best chances, given what they return from teams that were successful last season.

Morris, even though they lost all-time leading scorer Julie Jurasits, has an abundance of talented players and will be an improving work in progress throughout the season.

Continued from page 14 and Newark seem to have the early edge at carrying the area torch. Minooka showed last season that they can play with anyone when they traveled to then-unbeaten Galesburg and won.

Most of the top players from last year – such as Butler brothers Joe and Jonathan and Larry Roberts – return for the Indians.

With the way Scott Tanaka’s group can shoot, they will never be out of a game.

Newark, meanwhile, reached the Class 1A sectional championship and returns most of its players and even gets a key one back, as 6-foot-7 Jack Clausel missed a lot of

time at the end of last year with a foot injury but returns for his senior year this season.

Morris, meanwhile, will most likely go through some growing pains, especially early in the season, as the team adjusts to not having guards Austin Patterson, Evan Bjelland and Jake Waker running the show.

With big men Jacob Jurasits and Jackson Shannon as the players returning with the most experience, the Redskins will be a post-oriented team, especially in the early going as some of the young guards adjust to the varsity level.

Coal City will be under the direction of a new coach, Minooka graduate Keith Kiper, who was the freshman coach for the Coalers last season.

Gardner-South Wilmington

and Seneca are always high on the list of teams that opponents don’t want to see on their schedules.

Morris, Coal City and G-SW will play in the Coal City Thanksgiving Tournament starting Monday, Nov. 23, while Minooka opens play in the WJOL Tournament on the campus of University of St. Francis on the same day with a game against Lemont at 5.

Newark opens Tuesday, Nov. 24, in the Sycamore Tournament, while Seneca hosts its own Turkey Tournament starting Monday, Nov. 23. Let’s play ball.

Double vision still lingering for Derrick Rose

Beyond mastering the X’s and O’s of coach Fred Hoiberg’s system, they are adjusting to new personnel combinations. They also continue to deal with injuries.

While big man Joakim Noah’s left knee is much improved, guard Derrick Rose still is experiencing double

vision in his recovery from surgery to repair a fractured orbital bone below his left eye.

“They said it could be as long as three months,” Hoiberg said after practice Sunday. “But it’s continuing to improve, and that’s obviously a positive.”

When told about the threemonth estimate, which would extend to the end of December, Rose expressed surprise.

“This is my first time hearing about it,” Rose said. “You

kind of have that hope in your mind that it gets well a lot quicker. But for this to be seven or eight [weeks] out and still the same way, I can’t do nothing but live with it. Get the most out of every day and keep working on my game until my eye gets better.”

For Rose, it’s not difficult to focus on the positives.

“I’m loving the way I’m working out,” he said. “I’m loving the way that we’re playing.”

Chicago shows an all-around impressive performance in win

Three things that worked

1. Efficient offense: Bears offensive coordinatorAdam Gase had a plan and it worked quite well against a stout St. Louis Rams defense. Quarterback Jay Cutler was 19 of 24 (79.2 percent) throwing, using two big plays (83-yard touchdown to Jeremy Langford, 87-yarder to Zach Miller) to open things up. He had a career-high 151.0 passer rating. The screen game and second-half run game helped move the sticks and keep the defense off the field.

2. Coverage teams: The

cover teams and kickers neutralized Tavon Austin. He had three punt returns for 16 yards, and Robbie Gould had seven touchbacks on kickoffs.

Pat O’Donnell had a net punting average of 42.8 yards. The Rams started 10 of their 14 drives inside their 20-yard line.

3. Third-down defense: It was the Rams’ bugaboo heading into Sunday and the Bears didn’t let them improve. St. Louis was 4 for 14 on third down, including a 1-for-7 rate in the first half. The defensive line forced QB Nick Foles out of the pocket often, leading to poor throws, and the secondary had sound coverage. It also helped the third-down defense that the Bears kept running back Todd Gurley in check better than any defense has this season, putting St. Louis in third-and-long situations.

Three things that didn’t

1. Return game: It was a tough afternoon for Bears return man Marc Mariani, who lost a fumble on a punt return that led to three points for the Rams and was ineffective in his other opportunities. Mariani had three punt returns for nine yards and his two kickoff returns went for 19 and 12 yards, respectively.

2. Opening-drive defense: Fortunately for the Bears, it wasn’t a sign of things to come, but the Rams walked down field to start the game, going 80 yards in seven plays, capped

off by a Gurley 6-yard touchdown run. The Bears had broken coverage that allowed 60 yards on two short pass plays.

3. Third-down offense: Most of the big plays came on early downs, helping the Bears out considering they were only 3 for 12 on third down – 1 for 5 in the first half and 2 for 7 in the second.

Three big moments

1. Miller’s long touchdown: The 87-yard catch-andrun score for Zach Miller was crucial to turning momentum back in the Bears’ favor. The defense looked out of place on the opening drive, and the Bears answered in a big way to tie the score at 7.

2. La n g f o r d ’ s c o n v e r sion: Facing a fourth-and-1 in the second quarter at the Rams’ 38-yard line, Gase showed confidence in his rookie back, calling for a play-action pass to Langford. Cutler put it on the money and Langford went for 11 yards to extend the drive, which resulted in a Miller 2-yard touchdown catch.

3. Defends holds: The Rams had one positive drive in the second half, moving the ball 63 yards on 10 plays in the third quarter trailing 24-10. Bears linebacker Sam Acho read an end-around to Austin, holding him to three yards, then Nick Foles threw back-to-back incomplete passes, as the Rams settled for a field goal, their final points of the game.

Gase’s plans plus Chicago’s execution equals offense

By KEVIN FISHBAIN kfishbain@chicagofootball.com ST. LOUIS – When Bears offensive lineman Matt Slauson turned to make his block on a screen pass to running back Jeremy Langford, he didn’t see any Rams players at first.

“It was like a ghost down over there, and I’ve got to find something,” he said.

Slauson found someone – Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson, coming full speed for Langford. Slauson’s cut block helped spring Langford for an 83-yard touchdown to put the Bears up 2410 en route to a 37-13 victory Sunday.

“It was a little unconventional setup because when I turned for my release, there was nobody out there, so I’m trying to find work,” Slauson said. “I just happened to look over my right shoulder and saw 22 coming across. I’m like, ‘Man, this is the only guy, I have to make it happen.’

“And Jeremy did a tremendous job slowing up enough to put him right on me and I just threw and it worked out great.

Jeremy is fast ... .”

The touchdown, one of two 80-plus-yard scores on the day for the Bears, came against a Rams defense that was fifth in the league overall and sixth in scoring defense heading into the game. Once again, Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase had a game plan that gave an undermanned Bears offense the edge. Reciever Eddie Royal

and running back Matt Forte didn’t make the trip to St. Louis. Receiver Alshon Jeffery, limited by a groin injury, had only three catches, the same amount of receptions as tight end Martellus Bennett, but the Bears had little problem moving the ball for 397 yards.

“When I’m in the huddle next to [Patrick Omameh] and [Slauson] and those guys and we get a play call, there’s never a time where we look at each other and are like, ‘Ugh,’ ” right tackle Kyle Long said. “We’re always fired up when we hear the play call because in large part it’s on our shoulders to get these guys some openings and let them do what they do best at the second level. That’s Adam Gase.”

When asked about the touchdown, Langford immediately credited Gase’s play call.

Tight end Zach Miller, who had two TD catches, said Gase “called an absolutely flawless game.”

Quarterback Jay Cutler, did his job, too, to the tune of a career-high 151.0 passer rating while completing 19 of 24 passes. He also made the right checks, like going to a run on third-and-10, and Langford took a toss left for the first down late in the game to help ice the victory.

“When I heard the call and we saw the look, I did my job and executed,” offensive lineman Charles Leno said. “That’s just a credit from the top, to the guys calling the plays, to the guys making the plays.”

Muck up, move up SPRINGFIELD – I couldn’t help but shake my head when I read the latest about police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz.

He was the Fox Lake cop who apparently tried to make his own suicide look like a heroic line-of-duty death.

Investigators now say he was stealing from the Explorer Post the department operated. Text messages sent by Gliniewicz before his suicide indicate he was terrified of being found out.

I’ve covered government for nearly 30 years. I’ve seen this play acted out before.

A problem employee finally does something that can’t be ignored and departmental embarrassment ensues.

Administrators, co-workers and just about everyone else scuttles around covering their butts and saying, “He never really was all that good of an employee, anyway.”

These problem employees come in all shapes and sizes.

Sometimes it’s a cop. Other times it’s a teacher. And still other times it’s some person stuck away in an anonymous post in the bureaucracy doing nothing but causing problems.

Let’s face it, we have an accountability crisis in local and state government.

Look no further than the Gliniewicz case. During his long and disreputable career, he was suspended no fewer than five times for violating 10 department policies. Some of the violations were relatively “minor” like calling in sick when he really wasn’t. I hate to break it to the workplace scofflaws out there, but folks who do this are liars and thieves.

They not only lied to their supervisor but stole from their employer.

Isn’t it reassuring to know that someone who was stealing from us was also entrusted with enforcing the law?

Of course that violation is picayune compared to some of the others. According to The

VIEWS Scott Reeder Associated Press, Gliniewicz was punished for threatening a colleague. In another violation he was found passed out in the driver’s seat of his personal vehicle, “with the engine running full throttle with his foot on the gas.” In a third case, commanders accused him of leaving a crime scene unattended.

How does someone with a work record like this not only hang on to their job but move ahead? Gliniewicz was a lieutenant. He was a leader – but also it turns out a liar, a thief, a bully and a coward. Talk about mucking up and moving up. It’s hard to fire a government worker. Really hard.

It’s even harder to fire a unionized government worker.

About a decade ago, I looked at how much it costs local Illinois school districts in legal fees to fire a tenured teacher. The number exceeded $219,000. I don’t believe it’s gotten cheaper since.

Government labor unions will tell you they don’t protect problem workers, they just advocate for the employees “due process” rights. Baloney.

While Gliniewicz certainly is not emblematic of all government employees, his ability to retain his job despite his record is troublesome. Those who work for government should be held to the same workplace standards as those who do not. From janitors to judges to the highest executive office, no one should be guaranteed a job for life regardless of unacceptable performance or conduct.

At the bridge table, sometimes you need to give your opponents their just des(s)erts earlier rather than later. In this deal, how can South make four spades after ruffing West’s opening lead of the club ace?

The auction could have gone many ways. And if the vulnerability had been different, surely East-West would have gone on to five clubs, which would probably have failed by one trick. (Note that North would have done best to lead a trump, trying to cut down the other side’s ruffs.)

First, South realizes that if trumps are 4-1 or 5-0, he has no chance.

Second, he sees that he needs to establish his diamond suit; but he knows from the auction that the suit is splitting 5-0.

How can he keep trump control and set up the diamonds?

If you need to gain tricks from a side suit, it is usually right to play on that suit first, and this deal is no exception. But as South knows East is void, he must lead a low diamond at trick two.

East ruffs and returns a club, but South trumps that, ruffs a diamond high in the dummy, draws trumps ending in his hand, cashes the diamond ace, and leads the diamond jack. Declarer loses only one diamond, one diamond ruff and the heart ace.

Finally, note that if West had started with three trumps and at least four clubs, the contract was unmakable.

Scientists boost immune system to attack cancer cells Dear Dr. K: I hear that doctors are trying to boost the immune system to help people fight cancer. Does that actually work?

Dear Reader: Yes, this old, simple idea is beginning to work. The job of the immune system is to recognize when “foreign” things (such as microbes or chemicals) enter our bodies and eliminate them.

Cancerous cells make substances that look foreign to the immune system. So, a person’s immune system should be an ally in fighting cancer.

The problem is that in most people with cancer, the immune system response is just not strong enough to do much good. So medical scientists have been trying to boost the immune system’s response.

There are several different

ASK DOCTOR K Anthony L. Komaroff approaches: • Checkpoint-Inhibitor Therapy: Unleashing the Immune Attack. When a cancer starts, immune system cells called T cells are naturally activated to attack it. However, the T cells then paradoxically produce “checkpoint” molecules that stop the T-cell attack. Scientists have created treatments called monoclonal antibodies that attach to and disable the checkpoint molecules. This unleashes the T-cell attack on the tumor.

This approach is showing real promise in several different types of cancer: melanoma, kidney cancer, one type of

lung cancer, bladder cancer, Hodgkin lymphoma and certain types of colon cancers.

Former President Jimmy Carter recently announced that one of these drugs will be used to slow the growth of the melanoma that has spread to his brain.

• Adoptive Cell Transfer: Finding and Boosting “Natural” Lymphocyte Attackers. When doctors remove a primary tumor, they often also find small numbers of T cells that are trying to attack the tumor cells.

These few T cells can be greatly multiplied in number, and stimulated by certain natural immune system chemicals to be more aggressive attackers.

This increased number of “angry” T cells are then returned to the cancer patient’s body, where they travel to the tumor

and attack it.

In other words, doctors create a strengthened army of a cancer patient’s own cells in the laboratory, put them back into the body and send them into battle. This approach has been most effective against melanoma.

• CAR Cells and TCR Cells: Creating Lymphocyte Attackers. Doctors begin with a cancer patient’s own T cells and modify them by inserting an element into them. That element recognizes and attaches to the patient’s tumor cells and causes the T cells to attack the cancer cells. Large numbers of these cells are grown in the laboratory.

The element inserted into T cells to create CAR cells does not occur in nature. In contrast, a cancer patient does

naturally make a few TCR cells – just not enough to stop the cancer. These few cells are removed from the body and made to multiply in the laboratory.

Then the very large numbers of either CAR or TCR cells that have been grown in the laboratory are returned to the cancer patient’s body to battle the tumor.

These new approaches are in their infancy and don’t yet work for many cancers.

They also can produce severe side effects. But some people who had no hope left have been given a new lease on life.
