Rotary Club collecting coats taken now through Nov. 14 and then will be taken to be sorted for homeless veterans MORRIS – The Morris Rotary Club is collecting used winter coats for homeless veterans living on the streets of Chicago.

About 80 percent of the homeless in Chicago are Vietnam veterans, according to a news release from the Morris Rotary Club. The Stand Down Day for veterans is Nov. 21 at the Humbolt Armory where the veterans in need will come to get checked out, be provided with food and given clothing to get them through the winter on the streets.

This is the third year Morris Rotary has participated in this project to gather coats. More than 1,000 coats are needed.

Last year, coats in larger sizes ran out quickly, so heavy coats in large, XXL and XXXL coats are requested.

Coats can be brought to the Morris Building and Loan or the Morris Hospital. Coats will be

and delivered to the armory for the Stand Down Day. Morris Rotarians, as well as some of its Interact students from Morris Community High school, help the veterans pick out a coat for the winter.

South Wilmington to hold all-town garage sale SOUTH WILMINGTON – An all-town garage sale will be held starting at 8 a.m. Saturday in South Wilmington.

The South Wilmington United Methodist Church, 225 Rice St., South Wilmington, will hold a lunch and bake sale selling barbecue, hot dogs, chips, dessert, lemonade and coffee, as well.

By DANIEL NEMAN St. Louis Post Dispatch ST. LOUIS – To every thing there is a seasoning, and a thyme to every purpose under heaven. It says so in the Good (cook)Book.

So thyme, clearly, is on my side – even though thyme and tide wait for no man. Thyme flies like an arrow – on a thyme line – and it is so abundant that you can save thyme in a bottle.

I’ve got a million of ‘em.

Thyme is as essential as parsley, sage and rosemary.

It has to be one of the most popular spices in this country and is certainly one of the most useful. It grows anywhere that gets some decent sun and has a warm summer, and it goes well with practically anything you want to put it on: poultry, lamb, beef, fish, mushrooms, onions, cheese and so much more.

I decided to call my first dish Mediterranean Baked Chicken. It is the easiest and most basic of the dishes I made.

I took a well-known Greek dish and tweaked it by taking out some of the Greece and adding a bit of France.

I made a simple vinaigrette of olive oil, lemon juice (that’s from the Greek dish), garlic, Dijon mustard (that’s the part from France), thyme and salt.

Then I plopped a couple of bone-in chicken breasts into it – the bones add much more

Thyme has abundant uses, like in this ragout of white beans. flavor while it cooks, but you could use skinless and boneless if you wish – and let them marinate overnight.

It’s definitely worth the effort, if you have the thyme.

MEDITERRANEAN BAKED CHICKEN Yield: 4 servings 2 large bone-in chicken breasts ¼ cup olive oil 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard ½ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon dried thyme 1 clove garlic, minced Note: This recipe marinates overnight.

1. Pat chicken dry with paper towels.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together oil, lemon juice, mustard, salt,

thyme and garlic until thoroughly mixed. Add chicken breasts and turn in bowl until coated on all sides. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

3. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Shake excess marinade off chicken breasts and place skin-side up in a baking pan.

4. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, depending on the thickness of the breasts.

MORRIS – Outside of Corn Festival, it’s not often that there is a parade down Liberty Street.

On Tuesday evening, the boys that play baseball for Saratoga got to have one all to themselves, as the city of Morris celebrated the Hawks’ second-place finish in the IESA Class 2A state finals last weekend. Saratoga finished 22-1, the only loss coming to Teutopolis in the state title game.

The parade started at the south end of Liberty Street and went the full length, all the way to Echio Lanes. The street was lined with parents and fans, most of them sporting a Hawks jersey, sweatshirt or hoodie.

After the parade, Tuesday was a night for Saratoga pride, as an assembly took place in Farmer Gymnasium.

“What an exciting weekend,” Saratoga principal Joe Zweeres said. “From waiting things out in the cold and rain Friday to playing in the last game of the season Saturday.

“But more than what you did on the field, it was the way you carried yourselves off the field that impressed me the most. I saw a bunch of you downtown at Corn Festival with your hats and jerseys on, and you were nothing but polite to people that wanted to come up to you and talk to you about your team. You made the school and the Saratoga community proud.”

After the Saratoga basketball cheerleaders led the crowd in some cheers, it was time to give out a couple of special awards. Zweeres presented longtime Saratoga boosters Donna Knutson and Kim Struck with their own cards, signed baseballs from the team and medals. Knutson is in her final year as a bus driver for the school, and Struck volunteered to chaperone 102 students on two buses during the two days of the state tournament.

Next, it was Morris Mayor Richard Kopczick’s turn.

MORRIS – The Morris freshman football team got a lesson in heartbreak Monday when they hosted DeKalb in a Northern Illinois Big 12 East game. The young Redskins led most of the game until the last 2 minutes behind two touchdowns by Denver Vandover and one by Payton Voitik.

“Then the wheels came off, and DeKalb went on a run I have never seen before in all of my time coaching,” Morris coach Jon Lanning said.

DeKalb’s quarterback converted a third-and-long on a great pass that beat great coverage by Morris’ Blake Breyman.

The next play saw a slant pass converted on man-to-man coverage near the goal line for a DeKalb score to make it, 19-13, still in favor of Morris. DeKalb then recovered an onside kick.

The Morris defense held strong, putting DeKalb in a fourth-andlong situation and the Barbs converted on a wheel route for a touchdown, and extra point made it, 20-19. Morris still had a chance with less than a minute to play, but DeKalb returned an interception for a touchdown, making it, 26-19 as they did not convert on the extra point. That gave Morris one more shot at it, but the Redskins again threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown to make the final score, 32-19 in favor of DeKalb.

“This is a tough loss, but something we have to put behind us and move forward to Kaneland next week,” Lanning said.

The Morris freshmen will finish the home portion of their schedule at 5:30 p.m. Monday against Kaneland.

So here’s what jumped off the tape at me this week after watching the Bears-Panthers game from Sunday over and over.

Alshon Jeffery, Kyle Long, Kyle Fuller and Pat O’Donnell are very good.

I don’t know if Jon Bostic, Ego Ferguson and Will Sutton will ever be special, but they already are approaching solid pro status.

I’m not a huge fan of Jordan Mills’ play to date, but he did have his best game of the season in Carolina and you can add rookie offensive lineman Michael Ola who should be a candidate for offensive rookie of the year based on his first five games, It’s pretty hard to argue that Bears GM Phil Emery isn’t adept at identifying young talent.

Sure, he missed on Shea McClellin and a few others but you expect guys in Emery’s line of work to bat .300 or so and gush when they get to .400.

Then the tape rolls on and you ask yourself what was he thinking guaranteeing Jay Cutler $54 million, giving Brandon Marshall a new three – year deal a few weeks ago, refusing to create legitimate competition at the third and fourth wide receiver spots, spending $35 million on Lamarr Houston and trotting out a cadre of career backups at safety to try and meet his team’s greatest need?

This mess isn’t Emery’s fault, but he’s certainly a co-conspirator.

I have no doubt Bears coach Marc Trestman is an excellent offensive mind, but is he a great coach?

As great a talent as he is, Kyle Long seems to average at least one presnap penalty a game. Jay Cutler tries to make at least three, four or five throws every game that no quarterback should ever attempt. We’re not sure what to make of some of Cutler’s throws because Trestman seems confused at times whether Brandon Marshall ran the wrong route or Cutler made the wrong throw. And no matter how much you fear good quarterbacks beating the blitz, would Trestman be better off going down trying to blitz for pressure or should he just keep

This mess isn’t Trestman’s fault, but he’s certainly a co-conspirator.

The Bears offense wasn’t horrible. Matt Forte was actually great, but his fumble was crucial. Ka’Deem Carey almost got Cutler killed missing a blitz pickup and they were only able to rush eight times for 26 yards in the second half. The running backs earned a C+.

Jeffery and Marshall actually had great days blocking and Jeffery made a couple big plays catching the ball, but Martellus Bennett struggled with his blocking and Santonio Holmes and Josh Morgan were practically invisible. The receivers earned a C. The offensive line struggled; especially Matt Slauson in his first game back from injury and four sacks is just too many.

With their inability to block the run in the second half they earned a C -.

Willie Young and Ferguson each had a couple big plays, Stephen Paea had one and the rest of the D-line didn’t. A C for the group is more than fair.

Raising awareness More than 200,000 American women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year, and about 40,000 women will die from it in 2014, according to the American Cancer Society.

However, the death rates from breast cancer have been on the decline since 1989, according to the American Cancer Society, and the decrease is believed to stem, in part, from earlier detection through screenings.

And that’s where we all come in for this fight.

After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer in U.S. women. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer.

Breast cancer, unfortunately, touches most Americans in some direct or indirect way.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which began about 30 years ago as a way to promote breast cancer awareness, share information about the disease and provide greater access to screening services to women across the country.

We’ve seen the numbers trend in the right direction, but we haven’t won this fight yet.

The best way for a woman to reduce the risk of dying from breast cancer remains early detection through regular self-examinations and scheduling annual mammograms after the age of 40.

Locally, medical providers like Morris Hospital and Healthcare Centers, offer multiple treatment options for residents facing breast cancer.

We all can do more to raise awareness besides wearing pink. Donate to the National Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. Volunteer at an event this month or at your local medical center. Do what you can in this all-important struggle to beat breast cancer.

Remembering my mom SPRINGFIELD – I stood alone at my mother’s grave last week, talking.

I told her how my oldest daughter, Grace, is going out for basketball this year. How my middle daughter, Anna, looks more and more like her every day. And I told her how our youngest daughter, Caitlin, is as ornery as ever.

I do remember how she loved to hold those girls.

I can still hear her voice singing “Happy Birthday,” and my daughters’ delighted smiles as they began their special days with their grandmother’s voice coming across the phone line.

Now, my 3-year-old, Caitlin, says she doesn’t remember Grandma.

It makes me sad.

We try hard to keep grandma’s memory alive. But a year is a long time when you are 3 years old.

I remember my mother’s kind blue eyes, her ready smile, her devotion to family, and her ability to listen and hear not only what you’ve

Standing at her grave, I know my mother can’t hear my words.

After all, she’s not there.

I believe she is with Jesus.

But still, I find myself talking and laying flowers at her grave.

As I write this, I’m wearing a pink shirt in her honor.

To be honest, sometimes I think all of the October pink ribbons, shirts and merchandise trivialize just how pernicious breast cancer really is.

For my mother, it was a difficult 11-year battle.

The chemotherapy left her bald. Sores developed on her feet. The cancer sapped her energy. Nausea haunted her for years.

It was not an easy life.

But it was one she endured

without complaining.

Some folks call that courage. I call it character.

That said, I want my mother’s legacy to live on.

One good thing about Breast Cancer Awareness Month is it gets us thinking about what we can do.

Here are some thoughts: • If you’re a woman, schedule your next mammogram today.

• Give a cancer patient the most important thing that you can: you. Cook a meal.

Sit by a bedside. Comfort a family member.

• There are lots of charities that help folks with breast cancer. Please donate or volunteer. Your help is needed.

Folks from my hometown of Galesburg, did all of those things for my family. It was most appreciated.

A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming.

When mom first received her terminal prognosis five years ago, the family was devastated.

Shortly after she was told the cancer was beyond cure, we had a birthday party for my eldest daughter.

Mom wept while she sang “Happy Birthday.” Dad’s voice cracked while saying grace.

My wife, Joan, thought of her mother, who died of breast cancer a few weeks before our wedding.

At times, during this long battle with cancer I was at a loss to know what to say to my mom.

The only thing that seemed just right was, “I love you.”

Despite her difficulties, mom always had a smile for her family.

When folks ask what I remember most, that’s it.

I love you, Mom.

In this deal, East had an interesting decision over two spades: double or three hearts?

Double would have kept all three suits in play, but would have almost certainly resulted in a 5-3 heart fit being missed.

Preferring to aim for the most likely game, East plunged in with three hearts. Then South understandably took a shot at four spades. West, less understandably, doubled for penalty, telling declarer that the spade break was very bad.

West led the heart 10. East won with his king and tried to cash the ace, but South ruffed.

There was a strong case for not touching trumps at all, but at the table declarer led his spade seven and went up with dummy’s ace! Now the contract had to fail.

South should have played the spade two from dummy. Then he cashes his diamond tricks and plays a club to dummy’s queen.

Suppose East wins and leads another heart. Declarer must ruff with his jack. Assume West overruffs and returns a trump.

South wins with dummy’s nine, plays a club to his 10, cashes the club ace, and crossruffs the last two tricks.

Herschel and his late wife Ruby had moved in April 2011, to the Curry House Assisted Living in Cadillac.

Herschel was born on October 9, 1927, in the small farming community of Weldon, Illinois.

He was the only child of Burnett and Lelah Goken.

He attended Weldon schools and graduated from Nixon High School in 1945. He played high school basketball and independent basketball from 1945-1957.

Herschel married Ruby Miller on December 14, 1947, in Mansfield, Illinois. Their early-married life was spent farming in Weldon. In December 1957, Herschel attended the Illinois State Police Training Academy and graduated January 4, 1958. He was assigned to District 5 in Joliet and the family moved to Morris.

Herschel retired from the Illinois State Police in 1987 after 30 years.

He enjoyed playing golf for many years. After retiring, Herschel and Ruby worked part-time for Green-

way Motors in Morris and enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include three daughters, Pam (Steven) LaZarr of Costa Mesa, California, Lelah Stableford Goken of Wells, Maine, and Shelley (John) Nelson of Cadillac, Michigan; three grandsons, Dan (Kellie) LaZarr of Costa Mesa, California, Jared (Elizabeth Hibbard) Nelson of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Kyle Nelson of Clearwater, Florida; three great-grandsons, Andrew Nelson, born June 3, 2014, and Jack and Evan LaZarr, born September 27, 2014; cousins, Jackie (Sylvan) Franklin of Pekin and Sally Benge of Gibson City.

Herschel was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; his parents; and a grandson, Mathew Aaron Stableford.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Saturday, October 11. The funeral services will begin at noon at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Sathuri of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church in Morris with Rev. Dr. Roy Backus officiating. She was born October 19, 1936, in Morris, the daughter of James F. and Ruth (Wills) Holderman.

She received her education in the schools of Pine Bluff, Coal City and graduated from Morris Community High School with the class of 1954. Later she received her bachelors degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign and her masters degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

She married Wilfred “Bill” Robinson on January 24, 1957, at the First Presbyterian Church in Morris.

Jean Ann was for many years the church secretary at First Presbyterian Church, the family farm manager, a self employed free lance columnist for envi-

ronmental concerns and Grundy County Solid Waste Coordinator.

She is survived by her husband, Bill of Morris; three children, Alissa(Mike) McCormick of Wilmington, Fred (Benita) Robinson and David Robinson both of Morris; three grandchildren, Hayley and Eric Robinson both of Morris and Hadley McCormick of Wilmington; three sisters, Janet (Rodney) Nunemaker of Randolph, New Jersey, Ramona Lanier of Sycamore and Roberta(Bill) Allen of Sycamore; one brother, Honorable Judge James F.(Paula) Holderman of LaGrange; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, David in infancy; one brother-in-law, Jerry Lanier.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, DAR, BPW Club, former 4-H leader, served on the Conservation Congress and the Illinois Michigan Canal Corridor Association.

Memorials may directed to the First Presbyterian Church or donor’s choice.

She was a fan of the Chicago Black Hawks, Chicago Cubs, a gardener and an avid bird watcher.

Over the subsequent 20 years, those same instincts have screamed at me three more times – and twice I was proven correct. The third man to set off this alarm is in my social circle, along with his wife. Several of the couples in our group are starting families.

By HEIDI LITCHFIELD hlitchfield@shawmedia.com MORRIS – Bullying is a problem among the youth in Grundy County, and no one knows this better than Cathy Gettle, who lost her son April 16, 2002, when Jon, 14, decided to walk to his middle school and hang himself.

Gettle, now a suicide prevention advocate, along with Christine Feller, the Internet safety specialist at the Illinois Attorney General’s High Tech Crimes Bureau, joined Grundy County State’s Attorney Jason Helland and the No Tolerance Task Force to talk to parents and educators about bullying Tuesday night at Morris Community High School.

“We’re hosting the forum to raise people’s awareness on bullying,” Helland said. “It’s important information and when I researched for this forum I found out less than onethird of the children being bullied will report it to an adult, it’s important for the adults to know what to look for.”

Gettle said she attends forums about bullying for one reason, her son.

She shared her 14-year-old son’s suicide letter with those present by showing a photo of it on a large screen with the names of individuals blacked out to protect them.

“Those who have severe depression, beware since they might suffer the same fate as I did. Yes, I did suffer from depression which resulted in this,” the letter read.

“The flame in front of my corpse represents the people who have been bullied. Keep my bodie [sic] there so that everyone knows that peer pressure and bullying is a BIG thing, so don’t ignore,” he wrote further down the letter.

Gettle said parents can do something to help, they should ask their children everyday not just how their day was, but what their favorite class or activity is and why? She said they should watch for signs of aggression or signs of depres-

“Our children are part of a connected generation,” Feller said. “Technology can be awesome, kids love it, but as a parent you have to establish boundaries.”

She said parents need to pay attention to the apps their children are downloading on their phones and what sites they frequent, the Internet is an easy place to bully or be bullied.

“If you child has five friends in their life, you have to wonder how they have 300 online, and what do those people want,” Feller said.

Data from the 2014 Illinois Youth Survey for Grundy County shows bullying via the internet or through text messages was experienced by 17 percent of sixth-graders, 24 percent of eighth-graders, 23 percent of 10th-graders and 21 percent of 12th-graders.

Of the 33 percent of Grundy County students who took the survey, 42 percent of sixth-graders and 50 percent of eighth-graders reported being bullied by another student using one type of bullying.

A presentation about bullying was scheduled to be at Morris Community High School this morning, and Helland suggests parents use this as a starting point for discussion.

“The topic of bullying and teen suicide is such a serious topic,” Morris Community High School Superintendent Pat Halloran said. “We appreciate the state’s attorney putting this together; bullying comes in different forms and we do our best to prevent it.”

Morris City Council approves ‘strong’ audit

By JESSICA BOURQUE jbourque@shawmedia.com MORRIS – A deficiency in internal control was the only finding in the city’s annual audit report this year, but that’s not news to city officials, Morris Mayor Richard Kopczick said.

“That has been a finding in every audit for years, since before I was mayor,” he said.

At Monday’s City Council meeting, auditor Bill Crawford said the internal control breakdown exists because the city does not have a full-time Certified Public Accountant on staff to compile the audit.

Crawford said technically, he should not be compiling the audit. Rather, he should be a third party reviewing an audit compiled by the city’s own CPA. “The auditor is supposed to be independent and not draft up the report,” Crawford said.

But this finding is not uncommon among smaller governmental entities, such as the city of

Morris, Crawford said, because they don’t always have the personnel or resources to sufficiently control their financial reporting.

Kopczick said he does not see the need to staff a full-time accountant at this point.

“There are other internal controls in place currently and our funds have continued to remain protected every year,” he said.

Other than the internal control weakness, the city is very financially healthy, Crawford said.

Revenues from sales and use taxes decreased by a little more than $1 million since last year, but that decrease can be attributed to the loss of a local fuel company that moved out of Morris, Crawford said.

The decline is not alarming to Kopczick, who said the city is counting on new sources of sales tax revenue – including Pilot Travel Centers and Goodwill – to help rejuvenate the revenue

jbourque@shawmedia.com MORRIS – It’s on those 10-mile runs, when her legs are tired and her breathing is heavy, that Megan Hayworth begins to really appreciate water.

Megan and her father, Michael Hayworth of Morris, had plenty of time to contemplate the importance of clean drinking water during their 18-weeks in training for the Chicago Marathon, occasionally embarking on 20-mile runs.

It’s only fitting the pair are running for Team World Vision, a fundraising program for Christian humanitarian organization World Vision that helps bring clean water to African communities.

“You go out and do a long run, and you’re like, ‘I want water,’” Megan said. “I’m choosing to do this, but so many people don’t even have access to drinking water.

Your motivation changes.”

The Hayworths are part of a larger team based out of Megan’s Naperville church, Harvest Bible Chapel.

Michael said he is representing the Naperville church and his own congregation in Morris – First Christian Church.

The father and daughter are asking those interested to support their efforts by donating to Team World Vision in any amount they can afford.

According to Team World Vision’s website, $50 can purchase clean water for one person.

“I’m not looking for people to donate $100 to $200 – that’s crazy,” Michael said. “A dollar per mile has been suggested, but I don’t really care if I get a penny per mile. It can still go towards something.”

The idea of running for the non-profit was introduced by Megan, who turns 26 years old this year and wanted to run her first marathon with her father, who has completed roughly 15 marathons in his lifetime.

Megan said running alongside a team that includes her father and having a clear motivation has helped her tremendously.

Michael said although the nonprofit is not local, the cause is still important and needs attention.

“We have local needs that are very important, but we have access to clean water,” Michael said. “That’s something very basic that a lot of people don’t have.”

Most catering done in Channahon is by out-of-town caterers who pay $50 for one-day liquor licenses, he said.

Local businesses have to pay a hefty fee for annual liquor licenses.

“I think we should limit the amount of one-day liquor licenses available,” Cook said.

That would give Channahon businesses some benefit for their investment in the village, he said.

Village Administrator Thomas Durkin suggested raising prices for a one-day license. Cook said he would discuss the possibilities with the village attorney.

To interest residential and commercial developers in Channahon, Petrick said the village loaded several flash drives with highlights of attractive properties for developers to peruse. Included is information on zoning, utilities, aerial views, Tax Increment Finance District boundaries and property photos.

Also included are descriptions of the village’s gateway signs, demographics, Town Center designs and transportation improvements.

“This will probably be one of our big selling points,” Petrick said of the transportation changes coming to the east side of town. “I-55 will have a brand new interchange.”

The same information also will be available on Channahon’s website, www.channahon.org.

The village board Monday also: • Heard from Trustee Missey Schumacher that police officers attended a conference on suicide among law enforcement personnel.

• Heard a plea from Cook to people using their heaters and fireplaces for the first time to make sure their systems are not hazardous.

• Heard a summary of the “Shoot for A’s” fundraiser by Chairman Chris Caldwell.

The dollars raised by the annual event go toward science education at grade schools in Channahon, Minooka, Troy and Rockdale.

Nate, known affectionately by his family as “Mr. Clean”, especially enjoyed visiting, backyard bonfires, catsup, homemade

chocolate chip cookies, frozen blueberries, Mom’s brownies, old farming pictures and stories, family trips, especially to Ozarks and Norway, using JD equipment, and working a backhoe. His smile and warm, genuine friendliness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

His funeral arrangements are being handled by Hager Memorial Home of Dwight.

8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, with final services starting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, both held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dwight. Burial will be at Round Grove Cemetery, rural Dwight, Memorials may be made to St. Paul School, St. Patrick Catholic Church, DTHS FFA, or donor’s wish.

Allowing them to participate in both has meant changing practices to fit student schedules and sometimes rehearsing without them as they participate in a game.

Preston Johnson, a 14-yearold eighth grade student, said participating in the musical is a great way to show people what it is like to be unique.

“Not everyone can do what we do,” he said. “Everyone doesn’t have the ability to get on stage and do what we do.”

The cast will take the stage Thursday for opening night at Coal City High School, and the show will run Saturday and Sunday, as well.

COAL CITY – Students at Coal City Middle School get a chance to be high schoolers as they take the stage this week in “High School Musical 2” at Coal City High School.

The cast of 43 actors and 35 technical crew have worked hard during the past six weeks to get ready to shine on stage in front of their friends and family.

“I hope by getting them involved now that it will continue in high school,” said Jack Micetich, musical director.

What Micetich wasn’t prepared for was the number of boys who got involved in this year’s production. For the second year, there were more boys trying out than male roles available.

“The typical rule is you never have to cut a boy,” Micetich said. “We’ve had to again this year.”
