As some of you may have lived in the area for more than 25 years (I have 27-year-old triplets, and now a son-in-law as well), I look fondly upon my 35 years of selling benefits to companies.

VILLAGE OF LISLE MAYOR’S MESSAGE

Iwould like to start by expressing my appreciation for the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce and the positive impact they have on our business community in Lisle. Their continual efforts in welcoming new businesses and supporting existing businesses are excellent and important to the sustainability of businesses in Lisle. The information included in this membership guide reflects the valuable benefits and resources provided by the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce.

The businesses in our community offer a diverse selection of high-quality dining, shopping and services. The Village of Lisle is proud to support our local businesses by helping to create an environment for them to flourish. At the Village Board level, we are seeing positive results as we lay the foundation for economic growth. To this, a capable and experienced developer recently acquired the Family Square site located at the southeast corner of Ogden Avenue and Main Street. The Village is working with them on plans to develop the site with a mixed-use urban-style project that is consistent with the Village’s Downtown Master Plan.

Each year, the Village invests significant funds in its capital infrastructure. In addition to the Village’s annual road resurfacing program, three of the Village’s commuter parking lots were resurfaced this year. Similarly, the Main Street Streetscape Rehabilitation project is in the design phase, consisting of improvements to address existing infrastructure originally constructed in 2008, focusing on functionality and accessibility.

This past summer, to coincide with Hokusai & Ukiyo-e: “The Floating World” exhibit hosted by the McAninch Arts Center at the College of DuPage, the Village of Lisle hosted its own community art project, which included public art installations, a Japanese garden, cherry blossom walk, and interactive augmented reality experience in Downtown Lisle along the Garden Walk near the Main Street fountain. The exhibit served as a local attraction that resulted in notable attention and increased foot traffic to the surrounding area.

Speaking of crowds, the Village held its inaugural Food Truck Social event series this past June in one of the commuter parking lots. These new and well-

attended events drew residents and visitors from all over to Lisle. Complete with tasty food options and live music from local musicians, the event series was a success with plans already underway to bring the events back next summer. Similarly, Lisle Restaurant Week, which occurs each spring, has become a popular event that highlights participating Lisle restaurants and draws local food lovers for a week of prix fixe menu specials and culinary delights.

Related to events, the Village recently established a Special Events Grant Program, which has provided funding to many local organizations to promote and encourage public events in Lisle. We also stood up a Special Events and Arts Committee to continue to grow our events and arts throughout Lisle. The grant program and committee aim to increase economic activity by providing cultural, recreational, and educational enrichment.

Lisle remains business-friendly with the help of the Economic Development Commission, which serves as an advisory commission to the Village Board, promoting the economic vitality of the Village of Lisle. The Economic Development Commission provides input on matters to facilitate sound economic growth, business development, and enhance quality of life within the Village.

Lisle remains a premier destination for small and large businesses due to its expansive access to transportation and urban amenities. With convenient access to I-355 and I-88, Lisle encompasses portions of the Warrenville Road Corporate Corridor, IL Route 53, Ogden Avenue as well as a variety of shopping districts.

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Year-round activities welcome visitors to Lisle

Lisle offers residents and visitors alike numerous activities, events, and amenities to enjoy and gather all year long. Downtown Lisle offers a welcoming, pedestrian-friendly retail streetscape with an extensive natural setting.

The Garden Walk, a focal point of the downtown area, includes an interactive nature-themed fountain inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Waters. The walk connects to a gentle winding path that passes mature shade trees, grasses, and flowers, drawing pedestrians to the PrairieWalk Pond, a 4.5acre recreational area filled with native flowers and grasses, and walking trails.

One of the popular spots is Dragonfly Landing, a children’s play area that includes “flowering” spray mists, a shelter with a living roof that serves as a gathering place, a whimsical tree house, and climbing frog cattail swingers.

From parades and 5K runs to Independence Day celebrations to car shows, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy all Lisle has to offer. Annual events include Depot Days, an event that transports visitors back in time to see what life in the area was like one hundred years ago. The Summer Entertainment Series Concerts in the Park hosted by the Lisle Park District, showcase the beautiful community park while enjoying bands and summer fun. And the Lights of Lisle event that kicks off the holiday season, bringing residents and visitors out into the community.

The 1,700 acres of captivating landscape encompassing the Morton Arboretum sit on the western edge of Lisle and are a destination for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The internationally recognized nonprofit is a place of enjoyment, a vibrant hub for nature education, and a world-renowned center for scientific research that studies trees and how to sustain them.

Featuring plant collections and gardens amid natural landscapes of woodlands, prairies, lakes, and streams, the more than 100-yearold arboretum houses a living collection that includes more than 100,000 specimens

representing more than 4,000 different kinds of plants. With its 16 miles of hiking trails, nine miles of roads, a Children’s Garden, educational programs and exhibits, the Sterling Morton Library of botanical literature and art, a Visitor Center with a museum store and a restaurant, special events, and seasonal exhibitions, there is always something to enjoy.

The Lisle Community Band offers free concerts over four Thursday evenings throughout the summer. The free performances are held at the Lisle Park District Band Shell on the east side of Lisle’s Sea Lion Aquatic Park. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a great evening with the family. The highquality musical performances range from marches to classical music to popular tunes. All musicians, from high school age and up, are welcome to join the band; auditions are not required. RECREATION

Lisle Park District making plans for active future

The Lisle Park District has been hard at work completing two parks as part of a new residential development, as well as a variety of other projects to enhance amenities within the community.

The Rivers Edge Park near Route 53 and Summerhill Drive is “setting sail” with its colorful shade sails that were installed over the summer. The playground also includes a picnic shelter and eventual pathways around the adjacent wetlands for a nature stroll. Also, as part of the project, Tree Preserve Park will open at the southwest portion of the new residential development, which will provide passive recreation trails through some historic native trees. As a secondary phase of the project, the park district will construct a boat launch on the property along the East Branch of the DuPage River. This launch site aims to complement the already existing launch located in Community Park, just a few miles to the north.

The Lisle Park District is scheduled to complete a renovation of their Ramp Park, which is located on the southern portion of Community Park – a 100+ acre park. First constructed in 2004, the park district is working with an American Ramp Company to renovate the ramp park in the spring of 2026. The park district is also scheduled to renovate an existing picnic shelter in Community Park that will now include the ability to accommodate up to 300 people. This will serve as a central hub for their highly popular outdoor summer camp, a primary venue for outdoor events, and a yearround rental option for a variety of outings such as weddings and reunions. The shelter is scheduled to be completed by June and will greatly enhance an already beautiful park setting.

The Lisle Park District also conducted a feasibility study regarding its indoor recreation space. Over the summer, it sought input from the community to plan for the district’s future indoor recreation spaces based on the needs of residents. Based upon the positive results from that process, the district intends to move forward with exploring the potential options for a new indoor recreation center that aligns with the desires of its residents and reflects its mission to “be community focused.”

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Lisle focused on promoting quality economic development

With a population of more than 23,500 people within a five-mile radius, Lisle is top of the list for businesses looking to start up or expand in the area. From its inviting Main Street to outlying business areas, Lisle is opening a new, distinct phase for business development.

With a clear focus on the future, Lisle today is a business-friendly community that has much to offer the retail and professional business community. Lisle is uniquely placed to offer businesses a place to call home, thanks in part to its proximity to the I-88 corridor, the Metra train station, and approximately 35 minutes to Chicago’s two major airports.

Lisle is determined to promote quality economic development, and to make that happen, it has adopted a business development grant program that provides businesses with a reimbursed amount for costs incurred to locate a restaurant, retail business, or commercial shopping center up to a specified amount.

“We are in an exciting chapter here laying the groundwork for change,” said Village Manager of the Village of Lisle Jeffrey Cook. With the goal of creating a “welcoming, yet balanced” business climate, the Lisle Village Board is working as a proactive and flexible partner for new appropriate development, he added.

Recently, the Village re-instituted the Economic Development Commission (EDC). Today, the group includes a village trustee liaison, chair, and six other members (four are voting and two are non-voting advisory members) with the goal of promoting economic vitality in the Village of Lisle.

The EDC is currently updating the Village’s grant programs, looking at the value of customizing efforts, noting that sometimes a “one size fits all” does not meet the needs of new businesses, according to Cook. In addition, the Village Board has hired a marketing consultant to update branding and marketing efforts for economic development. Recently, it was announced that the southeast corner of Ogden Avenue and Main Street in downtown Lisle has been acquired by an Indianapolis-based developer who has plans to create a multi-use mix of retail and residential space.

In addition, Cook said other developers are presenting options for new residential development with options for commercial development before the Village’s Planning Commission.

In 2024, the Village adopted a new TIF district, the East Ogden Avenue TIF (tax increment financing district) for the area located along Ogden Avenue from I-355 to St. Joseph’s Creek to attract private development and new businesses.

TIF Districts are commonly used economic development tools by local government to support, encourage, and accelerate redevelopment and public improvement projects in a designated area of the community, which can be described as lagging

behind other area developments. Another proposed TIF District, the IL Route 53 TIF was recently approved to address the area of Lisle on Route 53 between Warrenville Road and Ogden Avenue.

Lisle Library District prepared for ever-changing needs

With a mission to enhance the cultural, social, and lifelong educational development of the community, the Lisle Library District is committed to offering materials, technologies, services, and programs that will help meet the diverse and ever-changing needs of patrons, both within and beyond its walls. Today’s libraries are much more than books—and Lisle Library is no exception.

Its services include voter registration, notary services, and license sticker renewals. Patrons can book an appointment with a library to help navigate a mobile device, use library databases to access other technology-related resources. In addition to home delivery, Lisle Library District offers a drive-up window for busy patrons. With five study rooms, two large meeting rooms, and a literacy room for English

Language learners, the Lisle Library District is a place to come, meet, study, and explore.

Its Youth Services department includes a play area for kids that incorporates building blocks and a climbing wall. Young patrons can also show off their collections by simply signing up to do so. The Teen Space includes lounge furniture, gaming equipment, and study tables. Patrons headed on vacation can request a travel kit to help keep kids entertained.

To create a welcoming and inclusive space, the library also offers a sensory cool-down kit that includes a weighted lap blanket, bubble timer, headphones, and a communications menu for in-library use.

The library participates in the Explore Illinois program, which gives patrons instant online access to free and discounted tickets to museums, science centers, sporting events, zoos, park districts, theatres, and other fun and local cultural venues as well as the Museum Adventure Pass, which offers admission or a discount at participating Chicago area cultural attractions. In addition, the library lends openpollinated, heirloom seeds through its Community Seed Resource Program, which is a collaboration between Seed Matters and the Seed Savers Exchange, expanding the collection to include flowers, herbs, and additional vegetables.

Lisle schools provide outstanding educational experience

Dedicated to providing an outstanding educational experience to its students, since 1972 Lisle District 202 has educated students from prekindergarten through 12th grade with a goal of encouraging exploration and independence through a rigorous curriculum.

With more than 1,500 students enrolled at Lisle Elementary, Lisle Junior High, and Lisle High School, the district focuses on the development of the whole student through both academic and social-emotional growth. Through a partnership between the Board of Education, school administration, school staff, parents, and community members, Lisle 202 is devoted to best practice learning experiences and teaching strategies. As a result, Lisle School District 202 has received numerous awards, including being named the third-ranked public high school in DuPage County by Chicago Magazine.

With a mission to empower students to develop a learner’s mindset, demonstrate adaptability, communicate effectively, think critically, and become global citizens, Naperville Community Unit School District 203 serves a large portion of students residing in Lisle. With more than 15,000 students enrolled from preschool through 12th grade, 95% of whom go on to attend college, Naperville School District 203 is nationally recognized and recently was recognized as the number eleventh school district in the state, according to Niche.com

St. Joan of Arc Catholic School has been a cornerstone of the Lisle community since 1927, dedicated to forming young minds and hearts through excellent academics grounded in faith. Serving students from preschool through 8th grade, the school blends a rigorous curriculum with a strong emphasis on character, service, and leadership. Small class sizes allow teachers to truly know each child and support their individual growth, ensuring that students thrive both in and out of the classroom.

A Catholic, college preparatory school rooted in the Benedictine tradition, Lisle’s Benet Academy is dedicated to forming young men and women into compassionate leaders, critical thinkers, and faithful servants of God and neighbors. Founded in 1887, as the all-boys Procopius Academy, the school later merged with the all-girls Sacred Heart Academy in 1967. Today, it is an independent Catholic college-preparatory high school for approximately 1,250 students.

Houses of Worship play key role in Lisle history

With the first church organizing in Lisle in 1833, religion has played an important role in Lisle’s history. The St. Procopius Abbey which began in Chicago in 1885 was relocated to Lisle in the early twentieth century. Today, numerous religious organizations have homes in Lisle aimed at fostering community through shared beliefs and values.

St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church is a vibrant parish dedicated to faith, fellowship, and service. Its work is to share in the mission of Jesus through the Church. The goal is to make the Kingdom of God visible in our community by seeking human wholeness, peace, and a bond of charity in our relationships with one another.

As members of Christ’s Church, it seeks to affirm, celebrate, and share the liturgy for the glory of God, the good of the Church, the family, and the individual with its liturgical worship at the center of all parish life. St. Joan of Arc is devoted to building a community and fostering Christian personhood to serve and celebrate Christ’s presence in its Catholic Doctrine by providing formation in understanding and traditions. St. Joan of Arc serves Lisle and the surrounding areas in many practical ways through food collection/donations, Adopt a Highway, recycling & the Terracycle program, serving dinner at PADS, its St. Vincent De Paul program, and MagiTree to name a few.

DuPage AME Church is more than just a place of worship—it’s a spiritual home rooted in faith, love,

and service. For over four decades, the DuPage AME Church has been a nurturing Christ-centered community where everyone is welcome to grow in faith, find support, and make a difference. Our journey is one of resilience, vision, and unwavering commitment to the call of God.

In keeping with the mission of the African Methodist Episcopal Church to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ’s liberating gospel through word and deed, the DuPage AME Church is dedicated to caring for its congregation and its greater community through Christian fellowship, compassionate outreach, and faithful service. It is committed to preserving and strengthening our surrounding suburban community for generations to come.

As a global, nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming lives and bringing about a more peaceful world through the practice of meditation, the Science of Spirituality has impacted millions. With over 3,200 worldwide centers, Science of Spirituality is dedicated to bringing inner peace, happiness, and a more meaningful life. The center in Lisle has existed on the same grounds in Lisle since 1991. A new center was inaugurated in July 2018, in a ceremony that was attended by over 3,500 visitors from 30 countries. Since its inauguration, tens of thousands have walked through the doors of the facility to attend workshops, retreats, and courses. All programs at the Science of Spirituality center are offered at no charge.

HEALTHCARE

Rush MD Anderson Cancer Center at Rush Lisle: Located at 2455 Corporate W Drive, Lisle, offers advanced cancer care— including immunotherapy, targeted treatments, breast imaging, etc.

Duly Health and Care, Lisle Medical Center, provides high-quality healthcare to the Lisle community and surrounding suburbs. With more than 75 providers at the 430 Warrenville Road clinic, they offer a wide variety of primary and specialty care services ranging from Family and Internal Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology to Endocrinology and Urology, as well as outpatient services including Immediate Care, Laboratory Services and Diagnostic Imaging. Duly provides radiation oncology, infusion, chemotherapy, surgery and cancer support care.

Lisle residents can access public health services through the DuPage County Health Department, which offers immunizations, health education for Lisle residents.

Thrive of Lisle is a skilled nursing facility with 60 private suites that strictly specializes in shortterm rehabilitative care. Thrive is located at 2850 Ogden Avenue, Lisle.

GOVERNMENT: VILLAGE OF LISLE

The Village of Lisle is governed by the Village Mayor and a six-member Board of Trustees. The Trustees, Mayor and Village Clerk are elected at large to four-year terms. The Mayor and Trustees are charged with the responsibility of establishing Village policies, enacting municipal laws, and overall approval of the conduct of municipal business matters.

The mayor serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees and performs certain duties as defined by the Village Code, which is local law, or by state statutes. The Village Clerk is the official record keeper of the Village and has the responsibility of keeping an official record of meeting proceedings, processing official Village documents, archiving historical records, and the issuance of certain licenses.

The Mayor and Board of Trustees annually establish a calendar of meetings that will take place during the calendar year. The calendar includes meetings called to address the ongoing business of the Village. The calendar also includes meetings of the Committee of the Whole, which are intended to provide a forum for more comprehensive presentations, discussion, and policy formulation. These discussions inform the development of formal policy proposals that are considered during a subsequent regular meeting. The annual publishing of a meeting calendar also fulfills the Village’s obligations under the Illinois Open Meetings Act.

Regular Village Board meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the Village Board Room in Village Hall, 925 Burlington Avenue. These meetings are scheduled to take place on the first and third Monday of each month except when they coincide with holidays or when they occur during certain summer months.

During the meeting, the Mayor and Board of Trustees formally act on agreements, planning and zoning issues, contracts, bids, and other Village business matters. The agenda for the meeting has several sections indicating when certain actions will take place. For example,

the consent agenda allows the Village Board to efficiently consider routine matters. Items on the consent agenda are considered and passed in one motion unless a request is made for an item to be separately considered. The mayor or members of the Board of Trustees may request that an item be removed from the consent agenda for separate discussion.

Lisle Township

Lisle Township provides services to residents in a 36-square-mile area in DuPage County, with its boundaries defined by Washington Street on the west, I-88 on the north, Woodward Avenue on the east, and 87th Street on the south. For these residents, it provides vital services, including assistance in times of need, such as food pantry assistance, general assistance, transportation services, and a medical lending closet.

Lisle Township also offers senior services, passport services, recycling, and benefits access. The township also provides for the assessment of real property for the basis of local taxation, and the maintenance of all roads and bridges that fall outside the jurisdiction of federal, state, and local jurisdictions. It also hosts annual meetings on the second Tuesday in April. A supervisor, highway commissioner, assessor, clerk, and four trustees administer the work of Lisle Township.

Lisle Police Department

Responding to calls for service within a six-squaremile area, the Lisle Police Department is committed to promoting a safe and secure community. The Lisle Police Department’s mission is to work as a partner with the community to ensure the safety of the citizens through crime prevention, the equal enforcement of laws, and the protection of life and property.

Recently, the Police Department procured and implemented a body-worn camera program designed to digitally document encounters officers have with members of the public and comply with the Illinois SAFE-T Act. In addition, it hosted a widely attended combined Police Department Open House

and National Night Out event, supporting a national community-building campaign promoting policecommunity partnerships.

To increase community engagement efforts, the Lisle Police Department has increased its block party visits, village events, and other crime prevention initiatives. It also implemented a crisis counselor and Chaplain program to support first responders and volunteers.

This year, the department is working on procuring and implementing a replacement for end-of-life in-car recording systems compatible with recently implemented body-worn cameras for improved electronic evidence handling. It is also focused on providing continued training on response options to officers and resources to situations involving people experiencing a mental health crisis.

The police department has developed a peer support program to promote officer wellness. It is also working to enhance the Village of Lisle’s Emergency Management response through continual scenario-based training and practice drills.

From January to October 2025, the Lisle Woodridge Fire District responded to nearly 7,000 incidents, with the majority relating to Emergency Medical Services. In addition, nearly 30% of calls were fire and rescue responses. In March 2023, the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District began a five-year strategic plan with four goals, including financial sustainability, operational effectiveness, workforce resiliency, and community involvement. As part of this year’s Fire Prevention Week, the Lisle Woodridge Fire Department focused on educating the public about the safe use of Lithium-Ion batteries.
