Selmer edges Koukol in GOP race Absentee ballots from primary now counted

By MATT SCHURY mschury@kendallcountynow.com Political newcomer Diane Selmer maintained her lead over incumbent Dan Koukol to win the Republican Party’s nomination for a seat on the Kendall County Board in District 2 after mail-in, absentee ballots were counted Tuesday night.

Selmer topped Koukol by just 15 votes after all absentee ballots were tabulated by the Kendall County Clerk’s Office and Aurora Election Commission. The final unofficial results including all absentee ballots show Selmer with 3,081 votes to Koukol’s 3,066 votes.

Tuesday was the cutoff date for

absentee ballots from the March 15 primary election to arrive in the mail to be counted.

It appeared late on election night that Koukol had won the nomination by 10 votes with all Diane Selmer precincts reporting in District 2, including precincts counted by the Kendall County Clerk’s Office and two of three precincts counted by the Aurora Election Commission.

However, once the third Aurora precinct’s results were reported the day after the election, Selmer pushed ahead of Koukol by the slim margin of 17 votes.

That lead narrowed to 15 on Tuesday afternoon after the Kendall County Clerk’s Office tabulated the final absentee ballots that came in the mail.

The Aurora Election Commission finished counting mail-in votes later Tuesday night and posted the results on the agency’s website.

District 2 has three Dan Koukol open seats. Also winning the GOP nomination were Matthew Kellogg of NaAuSay Township and Tony Giles of Oswego.

The three will face Democratic incumbent Elizabeth Flowers and Kristine Heiman in the November general election. Both Flowers and Heiman won their party’s nomination running unopposed.

Selmer is making her first bid for election to the county board. Last year she ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the Oswego Village Board.

Koukol has served on the board since 2010.

Improvements coming to two intersections in Montgomery

mschury@kendallcountynow.com The Kendall County Board voted unanimously March 16 to accept a bid totaling $505,101 from Geneva Construction of North Aurora to make improvements to two busy intersections along Orchard Road in Montgomery.

Fran Klaas, the county’s highway engineer, told the board that most of the work will take place at the Orchard Road and Caterpillar Drive intersection, where crosswalks and push button signals for pedestrians will be installed.

The crosswalks and signals are expected to make it easier and safer for pedestrians from subdivisions located west of Orchard Road to reach stores along the east side of the road, according to Klaas. Currently there are no crosswalks at the intersection.

At nearby Orchard and Galena roads, Klaas said contractors will make modifications to the traffic signals and turn lanes.

He noted that eastbound traffic on Galena Road in the morning often gets backed up at the Orchard Road intersection.

“We are going to put dual left [turns] for that movement because in the morning that [traffic] stacks up for a quarter mile [on Galena Road]. It backs all the way up to Concord Drive intersection sometimes – it’s pretty bad,” he said.

Adding the second left turn lane means the contractors will have to modify the pavement and put in some new traffic signal mast arms, Klaas noted.

The project will begin soon and finish sometime in the fall, according to Klaas.

Klaas’ department will be updating the county’s five-year highway plan this summer and will reprogram all those extra dollars.

Local lawmakers should lead on TV recycling A 2012 state law banned old tube TVs from landfills and most electronics stores, waste haulers and recyclers are no longer accepting them. That leaves consumers in Kendall County and across the state in the lurch when they want to get rid of their old TVs. That a growing number of residents are frustrated by their lack of disposal options and taking matters into their own hands is obvious if you drive along any of the county’s rural highways. Look closely and you’re likely to see old Sonys, Samsungs, Panasonics and more tossed from passing cars and trucks into the adjoining ditches.

Last year, the General Assembly attempted to fix the recycling problem

by passing a law, HB1455, which was intended to get recycling centers to take old TVs and other electronics again by increasing the amount that manufacturers must recycle or reuse on an annual basis. But when Gov. Bruce Rauner signed HB1455 last July, officials with his office and the bill’s sponsor, State Rep. Emily McAsey, D-Lockport, acknowledged the legislation was only a temporary fix and further legislation is needed.

Catherine Kelly, spokeswoman for the governor’s office, told the Joliet Herald-News that the state’s prior electronics recycling law was “out of date and putting an undue burden” on local governments. Referring to

HB1455, Kelly said, “This bill gives local governments, manufacturers and stakeholders time to develop new regulations for electronics recycling.”

Based on what we’re seeing here in Kendall County, HB1455 has come up short – even as a temporary remedy to the recycling problem. County residents still don’t have a lawful, viable way to dispose of old TVs. More action needs to be taken and we would like to see one or more of the county’s four state representatives and three state senators come forward to take a leadership role in the crafting of further legislation that will provide a long-term remedy to the recycling dilemma. If nothing else, passage of

HB1455 last year proved recycling is one issue that both Democrats and Republicans can agree on in Springfield.

As the governor and Democratic leaders remain at odds over a new state budget and their minions in the House and Senate wring their collective hands, there is nothing to prevent State Reps. Keith Wheeler, R-Oswego; Mark Batinick, R-Plainfield; Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego; State Sen. Linda Holmes, D-Aurora; State Sen. Jim Oberweis, R-Sugar Grove; State Sen. Sue Rezin, R-Morris; or State Sen. Jennifer Bertino Tarrant, D-Plainfield, from taking positive action either individually or collectively to resolve what has become a recycling crisis.

Spring: a time to separate junk mail from seed catalogs So here we are living through the fifth Thursday of March, and looking forward to April Fool’s Day. As this whole global climate change thing accelerates, it’s hard for us here in Northern Illinois to tell whether weather is getting any crazier than usual, since crazy weather is pretty much the norm around these parts.

The good news, of course, is that it’s officially spring and has been for a couple of weeks now. The bad news is that Mother Nature is a well-known practical joker, which means don’t put that snow shovel away just yet. Soon, but not now – trust me on this.

Me, I’m enjoying trips out to the mailbox to empty out all the seed and gardening catalogs, which, in my opinion, are even better harbingers of spring than robins and daffodils. The trick is to separate the seed catalog wheat from the junk mail chaff. But even the chaff has some interesting things to say. And so, with little further ado, here are a bunch of things I might never have found out if I hadn’t opened all the junk mail that showed up in the mailbox out in front of the Matile Manse every day the mail carrier made his (or her) appointed rounds: Along with Women’s History Month, March is also National Flour Month, so you’ve got just one more day to celebrate.

Six other citizens asked similarly straightforward questions, but were also given blank stares instead of answers, with one exception: One citizen cited the newspaper report stating the property would become a parking lot. A trustee vehemently denied that. Very interesting, since only a few days earlier the head librarian told me, face to face, that the library was looking 40 years ahead to when they might need additional parking.

When that trustee was asked what the plan for the property was, all trustees resumed absolute silence.

This example shows how your taxing officials are doing their best to raise us into the top 10 taxing counties in the nation. In the meantime, more people are moving out of Oswego, unable to pay their property taxes.

Don’t you think it is time for you to start taking more of an active interest in how your tax money is being spent?

Lift the Cuban embargo

To the Editor: I am currently retired. I spent 37 years with a medical device company. I had the opportunity to travel the world. One of those trips took me to Cuba. It was an exciting endeavor indeed. I was attending a medical meeting organized by my associates in France, who supplied me with the necessary credentials required 15 years ago.

My colleagues and I were treated to a tour of Havana before driving east,

down the coast to our resort, built by the French. All the political monuments were neat, clean and large. The rest of the city was a mess. Crumbling infrastructure everywhere, and I mean everywhere. The place hasn’t seen any updates in generations. It is sad indeed and I understand why the Cuban people crave an end to our embargo. Canada, France, Germany and all the other countries that permit travel to Cuba have done little to improve life just south of Florida.

Should we continue the embargo? No, there is nothing to prove any longer.

Russia won’t aid Cuba to any extent any longer. Venezuela is broke and cannot help their socialist paradise. Lift the embargo, let us buy cigars and reunite families. Fifty-plus years is enough.

Playing peek-a-boo

To the Editor: Have you ever played peek-a-boo with your child? The Kendall County Sheriff’s Department likes to play it with the law.

Now they’re here to enforce them. Now they’re not.

A few weeks ago, I asked Sheriff Dwight Baird to investigate Oswego Road Commissioner Gary Grosskopf for misuse of government resources. For 13 months after his wife, Chelly Pasdertz, quit her job with the township on May 31, 2014, she continued to use her work cellphone.

Sheriff Baird’s investigation concluded, “Oswego Township did not incur any un-reimbursed expenses for the use of the phone by Chelly.”

Based on the cellphone bills I submitted to Sheriff Baird, the total amount the township was billed for the phone was $833.19. However, Grosskopf wrote a check after the fact on July 24, 2015, for $787.36, a difference of $45.83 that has yet to be paid.

Sheriff Baird incorrectly reported to me: “She maintained this phone through the end of June 2015.” Except township cellphone billing records show she continued to use this phone privately in the state of Florida through July 10, 2015, the same time that Todd Milliron’s July 10, 2015, FOIA for cellphone records was released by the township. The cost incurred by Oswego Township taxpayers for that month was not reimbursed and was $22.50, a total outstanding expense of $68.33.

Residents voice concerns over land purchase Library says site won’t be used as parking lot

By LYLE R. ROLFE news@kendallcountynow.com Several Oswego residents were frustrated when they left the Oswego Public Library District’s board meeting March 23 because board members declined to answer their questions during the meeting about a recent land purchase.

The residents attended the meeting to ask the board about their purchase and plans for a near 3-acre parcel of land at 19 North St., across Waubonsie Creek from the district’s downtown Oswego Campus Library.

The library board recently completed the purchase of the property from Russell R. Breitwiser at a total cost of $175,000.

Residents who spoke included Pat and Cecelia McCarthy and their daughter Tia McCarthy, residents of 175 N. Madison St., which is adjacent to the property; Eileen Dolly Maly of 189 N. Adams St.; George Stenitzer of 177 N. Adams St.; and Len and Kathy Wass

of 175 N. Adams St. They were concerned that the land was going to be developed as a parking lot for the library. This resulted from a comment made at a previous meeting

by Library Director Sarah Skilton, who said, “Parking is the number one need in the area of the Oswego Campus. We have had the same request since our first survey over 15 years ago.”

Trustee and board secretary Terry Tamblyn said earlier comments that the property was purchased for a particular reason were not true. There are no plans for the property at this time, Tamblyn said.

Board President Vernita Hettrich gave each resident three minutes to read their questions and comment during the meeting.

Hettrich’s response to each resident was that the board would take the questions and comments “under advisement” without saying when library officials would provide answers to their questions.

After the meeting Hettrich and Skilton said they would prepare answers to written questions they received from the residents and make them available to the Ledger.

Hettrich and Terry Tamblyn, board secretary, issued a two-and-a-half-page

statement on the library board’s purchase of the property on behalf of the board Friday. (An edited version of the statement appears in Forum on page 5.)

Tamblyn said the board had been involved in discussions, negotiations, and legal work concerning the purchase of the property since July 2014.

He said the owner initially offered it to the village of Oswego, the Oswegoland Park District and the library district at a cost of $250,000, including a small rental home and barn.

“In checking with the village and the park district we found that they were not interested in the property. Of all the neighbors to the property, the library district has the most vested interest in maintaining and preserving the view from the thousands of square feet of windows that overlook the creek and the property,” Tamblyn said.

He said the library has been a good neighbor since it built the downtown Oswego Campus in 1964.

“We were concerned for the property, which is zoned residential and would prefer that it not be developed in something inconsistent with the area,” he said.

Tamblyn said the district had money in the budget not used for a recent

addition to the Oswego Campus Library along with revenues in a landcash fund from developers that were used to buy the parcel.

Tamblyn said the district’s attorney told them the board’s discussion with the owner to purchase the property “was not allowed outside of the board because of ongoing negotiations and legal requirements.”

He noted, “We did not have any requirement to go public because we were not taking the property, but were merely making a property purchase.”

Tamblyn said Breitwiser, who purchased the property in 2001 for $250,000, had a recent appraisal that listed the value of the parcel at $175,000. He said the board’s appraisal showed a value of $150,000, but the board agreed to the $175,000 purchase price.

Tamblyn said the library board had the property surveyed in October 2014 and ordered an appraisal of the property. An environmental study showed there were no past environmental abuses, or need to have soil borings, he said.

It’s hard for Mark Mulford to hide his excitement when he begins talking about the opening of Pearce’s Restaurant at the Fox Bend Golf Course on Route 34 in Oswego.

He was hired recently by the Oswegoland Park District as food and beverage director for Fox Bend, which includes the restaurant.

A grand opening for Pearce’s is planned for April 7. The restaurant will open at 11 a.m. daily for lunch and close at 9 p.m. weekdays and 10 p.m. on weekends.

The restaurant will feature American as well as southwest cuisine, according to Mulford.

“My menu has been one of my bigger challenges because it contains 57 items, not including the daily and weekly specials which will include items such as fish, prime rib and others,” he said.

The big attractions will be the Fox Bend specialties, which will include something for everyone, he said.

Mulford created the menu, but said he has a top-notch culinary staff, so he asked them to come up with their own specialties to give customers something unique.

Mulford was chosen for the position of food and beverage director from a

group of about 30 applicants, according to Rich Zielke, executive director of the Oswegoland Park District, which owns and operates Fox Bend. Mulford also will be in charge of the food and beverage service for the other park district facilities.

Mulford said he has already hired 16 new staff members, which includes six culinary positions.

A native of Highland Park, Mulford said his culinary career began at the age of 14, stirring 25- and 50-gallon containers of soup in the kitchen of a restaurant.

He became interested in cooking because his mother was a great cook, and was in the restaurant business.

She taught him and his brother how to cook and he expanded on those experiences.

Over the past 35 years since he began by stirring soup, Mulford has been involved in every aspect of running a restaurant and banquet facility.

His time has been spent almost halfand-half in the back of the house (kitchen), and the front, greeting and talking to guests.

He still likes doing both, so he plans to take time to greet guests at Pearce’s.

“I like greeting them and table touching and am looking forward to establishing relationships with them.

This is what has encouraged me to stay in this business,” he said.

38 seatbelt citations issued during St. Pat’s Day crackdown

The Oswego Police Department issued 38 seatbelt citations during a St. Patrick’s Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” crackdown March 17.

Police reported that 23 of the seatbelt citations were issued during nighttime hours.

Police also issued 17 citations for driving while using a cellphone. No drivers were found to be under the influence during the crackdown.

The crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation, and is part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.

He said the board’s insurance agent determined these buildings are in poor condition and could not be insured for anything other than liability. But he added that the board would review the viability of the buildings to determine if they can meet safety standards and insurability standards.

The trustees announced at their Dec. 12 board meeting that all legal proceedings and paperwork had been completed and that they were going to purchase the property for $175,000.

Tamblyn said, “We have no plans for a parking lot nor any use that would

initiate additional traffic on North Street. If the time comes when the library board starts to think about the use of this property we will absolutely involve our patrons and neighbors in the planning process as we have done in the past.

“First and foremost, our view of the creek and open space beyond it have been preserved, and the library has been and remains committed to the Oswego Downtown. We have maximized the use of our present site with our latest addition, but some future board may need the property to provide additional services to our patrons,” he added.

He said they plan to remove brush piles and trash that has accumulated over the years and will have an arborist check the trees and give them any care they need.

The motorists told sheriff’s deputies that the damage occurred between 5 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. March 25.

Chiefs feature local talent

By CHRISTINE BOLIN DASCHER cbolin@kendallcountynow.com Three players from Kendall County were a part of a record-setting women’s basketball season at Waubonsee Community College.

Oswego East alum Julianna Wadsworth, a sophomore, and Libby Love and Jewel Hupe – two freshmen from Plano – were a part of the WCC’s team that finished 11th in the nation for the second straight year after Kankakee Community College defeated the Chiefs, 68-67, in the third round of the NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship Tournament on March 18.

The Chiefs set program records for wins in a season (at 27-9) and won 18 consecutive games in the second half of the season. Against KCC, Wadsworth finished with a game-high 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

Wadsworth’s huge highlight of the postseason was her 15-foot jumper with three seconds left that gave WCC a 57-55 victory over South Suburban College in the Region IV Division II District L Championship game. The basket sent the Chiefs to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament for the second straight year.

The NJCAA All-American Wadsworth averaged over 20 points per game, placing her in the top 20 nationally among Division II junior college players.

Her steals this season placed her in the top four in the nation and her free

throw percentage also ranked her in the top seven nationally. She was also the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Year and First Team All-Region and ended her career as the Chiefs’ all-time leading scorer with 1,211 points.

“I saw a lot of improvement from her,” WCC coach Jim Sury said of Wadsworth. “She developed a three-point shot, she can drive – she has a wide range of moves. She was definitely one of the top players in our conference.

She was a coach’s dream. She’s going to be missed.”

Love scored 10 points against KCC. She was named to the All-ISCC First Team after she averaged 16.1 points per game in conference action and led WCC with 52 three-pointers.

“Her shot was tweaked and her ball-handling skills were not where we needed them to be, but she showed up and worked at it and definitely got better,” Sury said of Love. “She can shoot the ball, and when she was on, she was really on.”

Hupe may see more playing time next year as a sophomore with the Chiefs.

“As the season evolved, she found her niche,” Sury said of Hupe. “She didn’t get a whole lot of time in, but she definitely filled a role.”

So far, two more players from Kendall County will join the Chiefs next year – Yorkville’s Aynia McGowan and Oswego East’s Nay Nay Clark. Sury is still looking for players to complete the 2016-17 WCC team.

YMCA Sports Complex this season. In its first year, the Lightning finished the regular season with a 7-2 record.

In the championship game, the Lightning scored the winning basket in overtime with less than 15 seconds left.

The team, coached by brothers Chris and Joe Jackson and Colton Ngumoha, finished 9-2.

USA National: Special Olympics Illinois is proud to announce that 11 athletes have been nominated as athletes and alternates to Special Olympics USA. “I’m excited to see where we’re going,” he said. “As a team, and as a program, Oswego East doesn’t have the respect that other programs have and we’re going to break that. We’re here to turn some heads. These guys know that Oswego East is typically a win for a lot of people and it’s time to change that. I can talk the talk, but we’re here

to back it up.”

After two seasons as a varsity assistant, Zerfas will now be pacing the sidelines from a different perspective as head coach. He replaces Noel Soto, who is now the head volleyball coach at Waubonsie Valley.

“I feel like we can really push what works,” Zerfas said. “All of these guys are club players now and our freshmen levels are starting to show a lot more growth. It’s been a significant change from last year to this year. I’m not teaching varsity players how to pass. ... There’s talent here and it’s a matter of grooming it.”

Aurora’s 2006 state volleyball team and has continued his passion for volleyball as a club coach with the Cyclones in the western suburbs and coaches the 7th and 8th grade teams at Holy Angels in Aurora. He is a 5th grade teacher at Boulder Hill Elementary School in School District 308.

Eight of the 10 rostered players are seniors, led by co-captains Adam Densberger and Max Behnke, along with junior co-captain Colin McClintic. Densberger returns for his third varsity season as the Wolves’ outside hitter, with Behnke in the middle and McClintic out of the right side. Junior Isaiah Robinson and seniors Riley Bus-

Oswego East will have a new setter for the first time in four seasons, looking to seniors Dylan Johnson and Timothy Patten.

“Our setters are in every day, and hour extra at practice and have shown an extreme amount of growth from the start of the season to now,” Zerfas said.

“I’ve had to push them really hard – they’re the quarterbacks of our offense – but they’ve shown a lot of growth.”

Oswego East opened the season with a 3-2 start and a second-place finish at the 12-team Plainfield North Invite last Saturday.

“This year we’re seeing as a rebuilding team because we graduated so many seniors, but we’re only going to use that to our advantage,” Im said.

Oswego opened the season Saturday with a 2-1 start at its home invitational. The Panthers won both pool play matches against Fenton and Rich East, but fell to York in the championship match.

The third baseman hit a solo home run over the right field fence to open the bottom half of the fifth inning and tie the score in Tuesday afternoon’s non-conference game. Sophomore shortstop Juvia Davis kept the momentum going with an RBI double to put the Wolves ahead, and Oswego East went on to win 5-3 over visiting Rosary.

“We had a couple unearned runs there, but we came back and earned ours,” Oswego East coach Laura Nussle said. “It was nice to see Sydni ignite us. That’s nice to see from a sophomore that kind of power, and Juvia kept it going. We’ve got some smart base runners and that benefited us today.”

Oswego East sophomore starter Emily Schultz gave up two singles and two walks that led to a 2-0 lead for Rosary in the opening frame, but Schultz struck out the side to leave two runners on base. She gave up a total of three hits and struck out seven in three innings of work, but finished with no decision after junior Mackenna Mittlestaedt relieved Schultz to start the fourth.

Oswego East and Marmion were able to get a little more than three innings in on March 23, but the game was postponed due to the weather with the Cadets winning 10-2. No reschedule date has been announced.

In the next week, the Wolves are scheduled to face East Aurora, Naperville North, Yorkville, Metea Valley and Fenton.

After a not-so-hot season opener against St. Francis on March 22, the Oswego East baseball team bounced back with an 11-7 victory over Sterling on Saturday in Matt Engelhardt’s first win as head coach.

“The kids played better. The focus was there,” Engelhardt said. “The big difference was maintaining focus.”

Against Sterling, Vince Schwartz was the winning pitcher. After 3 2/3 innings, he gave up six runs, four hits and two strikeouts. At the plate, he had tworun home run. Daniel Nelson earned the save (3.1 innings, four strikeouts, three hits) and Garrett Goetz went 3-for5 with three RBIs and a home run.

“They took advantage of a few more opportunities, and the pitching is starting to sharpen up,” Engelhardt said.

East girls squad wins 6 medals

By KRISTIN SHARP ksharp@kendallcountynow.com For the first time in Oswego East girls’ track history, the Wolves medaled in every event they entered at the Illinois Top Times Classic last Saturday.

Regarded as the indoor state championships, Oswego East entered one relay and three individuals into six events. Senior Sade Akinfe won the long jump with a mark of 18-9 and senior Tara Schumacher was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles. Senior Morgan Harris took home three medals. Harris captured third in the 400 with a time of 58.37 seconds, finished eighth in the 60-meter finals with a time of 7.94 seconds and was seventh in the 200 with a time of 26.14 seconds.

Oswego East’s 4x400-meter relay team took fifth in 4:05.22 behind the efforts of Ashley Buado, Tara Schumacher, Alexis Henz and Abby Flammersfeld.

By CHRISTINE BOLIN DASCHER cbolin@kendallcountynow.com The Oswego baseball team is off to its best start in Mark Johnson’s three seasons as head coach.

The Panthers improved to 6-0 after Monday’s 11-0 win in five innings against West Aurora. The Panthers also picked up an 8-0 victory over Marmion last Saturday and a 4-1 win over Glenbard East on March 23.

Oswego has allowed just five runs (including three shutouts) and has scored 43 runs so far this year.

“The kids are really starting to buy in. They’ve been around the program and have bought into the weight room,” Johnson said. “They are good kids, they really are. Our sophomores are 4-0 and the freshmen are 5-0, so it’s good. We’ll see what happens as the season goes on. The competition is only going to get tougher.”

Against West Aurora, Oswego scored five runs in the bottom of the first, thanks to an RBI double from Mike Dato and RBI singles from Gabe Panza, Tanner Sohst and Joe Fogarty.

With Konor Gengler and Dato on base with no outs, Panza hit a threerun home run that extended Oswego’s lead to 8-0. Colton White scored the fourth run of the inning after he doubled, reached third on a passed ball and scored on Sohst’s sacrifice fly.

Sohst recorded his third RBI of the game in the fourth, when his RBI double scored another run. That same double moved White to third after he was walked, and he reached home when Mitch Gwodz reached base on a West Aurora error. The Panthers finished with 10 hits and struck out only two times.

“We did well today and were very consistent throughout the lineup,” Panza said. “All season, we’ve been hitting up and down the order. It’s been really good.”

Oswego pitcher Jacob Nalley earned the win after he gave up four hits, three strikeouts and one walk in five innings.

West Aurora dropped to 0-3.

The Blackhawks’ opponents this year – Oswego, Plainfield South and Plainfield Central – are all from the Southwest Prairie Conference and have a combined record of 15-1.

The Panthers resume action this week with games against Morris, West Chicago and their first Southwest Prairie Conference outing of the year on April 5, hosting Plainfield East.

Notes: In the win against Marmion, the Panthers posted 10 hits. Dato had three and both White and Konor Gengler each had two. White led the way with two RBIs and Luke Torrez was the winning pitcher. In the win against Glenbard East, both teams produced three hits. Oswego’s were from Panza, Sohst and Carter Turnquist. Turnquist also got the win on the mound after he struck out seven batters.
