for a foothold in new ‘Palm Royale’
By Sarah Passingham TV Media
The glittering pools, manicured gardens and perfectly shellacked updos of Palm Beach’s high society just barely obscure the secrets and lies that their exclusive clubs are built on. Back for its second season and premiering Wednesday, Nov. 12, the Apple TV period dramedy “Palm Royale” returns to sunny, sandy Florida on the cusp of the 1970s. Perennial outsider Maxine Dellacorte (Kristen Wiig, “MacGruber”) must once again prove she has just as much a right as the existing club members to be a part of the upper crust. The first of 10 new episodes will be available to stream on premiere day, with new episodes dropping each Wednesday.
Maxine pulled out all the stops last season to try to prove herself to the glamorous ladies of the Palm Royale, pushing herself to the brink. Her arrival from Tennessee was an interruption to the status quo of the Palm Royale and its members. Plus, as Maxine attempted to make headway on the rungs of the club’s social ladder, her meddling shook loose meticulously buried secrets.
In last season’s finale, the 50th Palm Royale Beach Ball turned into a disaster as Maxine aired everyone’s dirty laundry on stage — in front of the U.S. president, no less — and a single gunshot rang out, putting an end to the sombre festivities. Meant for Richard Nixon (Rich Skidmore, “McMillions”), the bullet instead hit Robert Diaz (Ricky Martin, “American Crime Story”), his fate being the cliffhanger of the season.
Brace yourself for a mild spoiler ahead: Martin’s bartender-cum-caregiver makes an appearance in the official trailer for the upcoming season, where Robert is seen resting in a hospital bed and taking to the stage for a glitzy performance in a tuxedo. Given the series’ use of flashbacks that might not have much to do with his condition this season, so “Palm Royale” viewers can all rest easy knowing Robert makes a comeback, one way or another.
Also returning this season are Laura Dern (“Caught Stealing,” 2025) as Linda Shaw; Carol Burnett (“Better Call Saul”) as Norma Dellacorte; Allison Janney (“The Diplomat”) as Evelyn Rollins; Josh Lucas (“Yellowstone”) as Maxine’s womanizing husband, Douglas; Leslie Bibb (“The White Lotus”) as Dinah Donahue; Amber Chardae Robinson (“Loot”) as Virginia; Mindy Cohn (“The Facts of Life”) as Ann Holiday; Julia Duffy (“Night Court”) as Mary Jones Davidsoul; and Kaia Gerber (“Overcompensating”) as Mitzi.
New guest stars this season include John Stamos (“Big Shot”), Patti LuPone (“Agatha All

Along”), Vicki Lawrence (“Mama’s Family”), Matt Rogers (“No Good Deed”) and Ryan Dorsey (“Big Sky”). Also reprising their roles this season are Claudia Ferri (“Queen of the South”) as Raquel Kimberly-Marco; Jason Canela (“The Young and the Restless”) as Eddie; Jordan Bridges (“The Old Man”) as Perry Donahue; James Urbaniak (“Oppenheimer,” 2023) as the manager of the Palm Royale; Roberto Sanchez (“BMF”) as Pinky; and Rick Cosnett (“Doctor Odyssey”) as Tom Sanka.
According to Apple, this season, Maxine will “have to draw on her deep well of cleverness and cunning to prove, once and for all, that not only does she belong but she might have what it takes to rule this town.” While everyone makes themselves over to become part of Palm Beach’s most exclusive scene, the queen bee is not willing to hand her crown down to just anyone. Norma overcame serious illness throughout the first season, only to threaten those who thought that she was on her way out — namely Evelyn and Maxine — in the finale.
Burnett, who became the oldest female actor ever nominated for an Emmy at 91 for her work as Norma, spoke to the Hollywood Reporter last May about the excitement she had taking on the role, saying, “What I love is that when Norma starts to come out of the coma, she doesn’t want anybody to know, because she has a lot of secrets that are her own. That was fun to play.”
Undeterred by the finale reveal that her stolen identity could become public knowledge at any moment, the trailer reveals Norma is thriving spitefully, holding court and talking of protecting Palm Beach from outsiders. Meanwhile, Maxine confesses to Douglas, “Palm Beach is a game and Norma is playing without me.” Maxine has a reputation to rebuild. Outing her husband’s affair and unplanned pregnancy with her friend and nail tech, Mitzi, to their entire social circle last season, Maxine has nothing to lose now that her business is all laid out for everyone to see. Now, Mitzi waits on a ring from Douglas while his and Maxine’s marriage is in limbo.
Linda is wracked with anxiety in a padded cell after taking the fall for the botched assassination attempt on Nixon at the Beach Ball. Though she obstructed Mary’s shot, Linda was the one left holding the gun when the agents arrived. Both members of a feminist group, along with Virginia, that may or may not have been infiltrated by the Feds, both Linda and Mary are at risk of being painted as dangerous whether they are in custody or out free.
Join everyone’s favorite social climber as Maxine once again tries to come for the crown in a new season of “Palm Royale,” premiering Wednesday, Nov. 12, on Apple TV.

‘NCIS’ and prequel share their rst case
By Dana Simpson TV Media
New and longtime fans of the NCIS franchise have a unique television event to look forward to this Veterans Day. In addition to honoring veterans past and present by donning patriotic colors and attending your local ceremony, television viewers can now continue honoring the forces by tuning in to CBS for a very special crossover of “NCIS” and its prequel series, “NCIS: Origins.” Airing on the major cable network during the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 11, the hybrid episode brings the past and the present together for a naval service crime spanning multiple decades.
“NCIS,” which first began as a spinoff of the wildly popular series “JAG,” created by TV superproducer Donald P. Bellisario (“Magnum, P.I.”) in 1995, has been holding strong since its premiere in September 2003, a year and a half before its flagship series aired its final episode. With 22 full seasons and nearly 500 episodes under its belt, the three-time Emmy-nominated series has certainly earned its place in the procedural television hall of fame.
Led by Gary Cole (“Office Space,” 1999) as Supervisory Special Agent Alden Parker since the departure of Mark Harmon’s (“Freaky Friday,” 2003) SSA Leroy Jethro Gibbs early on in Season 19, the current season of “NCIS” also stars Sean Murray (“Hocus Pocus,” 1993), Wilmer Valderrama (“That ‘70s Show”), Rocky Carroll (“Chicago Hope”), Brian Dietzen (“Congratulations,” 2012), Diona Reasonover (“Clipped”) and Katrina Law (“Arrow”).
While the plot of all seven NCIS series is essentially the same — a designated group of special agents works with brilliant minds and high-performing technology to solve crimes involving members of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps in cities around the country — “NCIS: Origins” differs in a major way.
The second-newest series to join the franchise after this year’s Paramount+ exclusive release of “NCIS: Tony & Ziva,” “Origins” focuses on the budding career of Special Agent Gibbs, this time portrayed by “The Hating Game” (2021) and “Whiplash” (2014) star Austin Stowell. Joined by his colleagues, played by Diany Rodriguez (“The Blacklist”), Mariel Molino (“Promised Land”), Tyla Abercrumbie (“The Chi”) and Caleb Foote (“The Kids Are Alright”), among others, young Gibbs learns to be a Naval Investigative Services agent from under Special Agent-in-Charge Michael Franks (Kyle Schmid, “Six”) while based at Camp Pendleton in 1991.
And although hardcore “NCIS” fans may be yelling “What about Gibbs’ Rule No. 91 about always leaving the past behind?” Good question. The answer, in this case, isn’t so simple, however. While “Origins” does take place more than three

decades before the other NCIS iterations, that does not necessarily mean that all crimes from Gibbs’ early days in the field have been solved. As it turns out, cold and continuing cases exist at sea as well as on land.
Despite very little detailed plot information being available as of this writing, fans of the beloved franchise have taken to the internet to show their excitement following a tongue-incheek promotional video announcing the crossover event. In the 30-second Instagram video, which is also available to watch on YouTube and Facebook, Valderrama and Stowell appear sideby-side in character to share the big news.
“Get ready for a crossover event like no other,” Valderrama teases as SA Nick Torres, continuing, “We’ll work a case that spans over decades.”
But the mysterious unsolved case is not the only thing that has audiences excited, as this episode could provide another perfect opportunity for young Ducky to appear. Originally played by late television legend David McCallum (“The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”) in “NCIS” from 20032024, Donald “Ducky” Mallard was recently brought back, as portrayed by “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” actor Adam Campbell, in the third “Origins” episode of Season 2.
Many who were aware of the crossover suspected it would be the ideal time to introduce young Ducky — Collider reporter Jasneet Singh wrote, “Since none of the cast overlap between the two shows, they could potentially introduce past or future versions of these characters via guest stars to further weave the story together” — but “NCIS” fans are delighted to have a few episodes with a quirky ‘90s-era Ducky, regardless of the method of timing.
It is also possible the two-hour event could contain snapshots of the in-between days from the early 2000s to the 2020s, meaning all bets are off for whom the writers choose to bring back and in what form. Either way, given CBS’s track record, if the highly anticipated episode proves to be a success, we will surely see plenty more evolution in the NCIS-verse.

Unscramble the letters for each word to reveal five movies and TV shows. Then, rearrange the circled letters to discover the actor who has appeared in all five.

When the holidays arrive, some think of traditions, bad weather or mountains of gifts, all neatly wrapped. Others wait all year for the festive feasts and mouth-watering sweets that come with celebration. For those who bake, cook and craft their way through the holidays, Food Network has them covered. Sledding onto screens as part of the network’s hot-and-fresh holiday lineup, “Sweet Empire” — a one-of-a-kind dessert showdown — makes its debut on Food Network Sunday, Nov. 9.
Led by “Bachelor in Paradise” bartender Wells Adams, this snow and ho ho ho-loving series sees 14 of America’s most competitive and

talented sweet-makers taking part in a challenge unlike any other. While making themselves at home in the aptly named Yuletide Lodge, the bakers must keep community and teamwork in mind as they form teams that could make or break their chance at winning. Food Network explains: “While the competitors enter as individuals, their goal will be to get on — and stay on — the strongest team by any means necessary, because in
this game, the bakers must create incredible edible works of art to grow their teams and avoid elimination. In the end, teams will crumble until only the strongest will be left standing to become the ‘Sweet Empire.’”
Betsy Ayala, head of food content at Warner Bros. Discovery, shared her excitement for the upcoming release of “Sweet Empire,” which premieres alongside some other holiday-minded Food Network series.

“The Beast in Me”
A woman finds herself searching for the truth in a game of cat and mouse in the chilling psychological thriller “The Beast in Me,” premiering Thursday, Nov. 13, on Netflix. Still haunted by the tragic death of her young son, acclaimed novelist Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes, “Homeland”) has withdrawn from the world, with her once-brilliant voice now silenced by grief. But her quiet isolation is shattered when her new neighbor, Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys, “The Americans”), moves in next door. A powerful real estate mogul with a dark past, Nile was once the prime suspect in his wife’s mysterious disappearance — a case that remains unsolved. Intrigued and deeply unsettled by her new neighbor, Aggie can’t resist digging into his past, convincing herself it’s merely research for a novel. As her curiosity turns into fixation, she’s pulled into his world, where the line between writer and subject turns into a dangerous game of cat and mouse — forcing Aggie to confront not only the monster next door but the one within herself. Created by Gabe Rotter (“The X Files”) with Howard Gordon (“Homeland”) as showrunner, “The Beast in Me” is executive produced by Caroline Baron (“Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin”).
“A Merry Little Ex-Mas” (2025) You will certainly have yourself “A Merry Little Ex-Mas” when this holiday comedy from director Steve Carr (“Daddy Day Care,” 2003) and writer Holly Hester (“Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”) lands Wednesday, Nov. 12, on Netflix. “A Merry Little Ex-Mas” stars Alicia Silverstone (“Clueless,” 1995) as recently divorced Kate, who hopes for one last picture-perfect family Christmas before selling the family home. But her plans for a peaceful, nostalgic

holiday quickly unravel when her ex-husband, Everett (Oliver Hudson, “Happy Gilmore 2,” 2025), unexpectedly shows up with his much younger, successful new girlfriend (Jameela Jamil, “The Good Place”). What follows is a festive clash of emotions as Kate tries to hold it together for the sake of her family — and maybe even rediscover what truly makes the season merry. Pierson Fode (“The Wrong Paris,” 2025) and Melissa Joan Hart (“Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”) also star, with Silverstone, Hart and Paula Hart (“Santa Bootcamp,” 2022) as producers.
WHAT’S NEW ON APPLE TV
“Come See Me in the Good Light” Love, laughter and resilience shine through even in life’s darkest moments in director Ryan White’s (“Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter”) heartfelt documentary “Come See Me in the Good Light,” premiering Friday, Nov. 14, on Apple TV. When poet Andrea Gibson (“The Nutritionist,” 2019) receives a terminal cancer diagnosis, they and their partner, fellow poet Megan Falley (“Verses & Flow”), embark on a poignant yet unexpectedly funny journey through love and mortality. Together, they turn pain

into poetry and fear into art, transforming Andrea’s final days into a moving celebration of connection and courage. Executive produced by Brandi Carlile (“A Star Is Born,” 2018) and Sara Bareilles (“She’s Out of My League,” 2010), “Come See Me in the Good Light” reminds viewers that even in the face of death, life can still burn brilliantly.
“A Very Jonas Christmas Movie” (2025) Holiday plans go hilariously off-script when the Jonas Brothers hit the road in “A Very Jonas Christmas Movie” (2025), premiering Friday, Nov. 14, on Disney+. In this festive comedy, Kevin (“Jonas”), Joe (“Camp Rock,” 2008) and Nick Jonas (“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” 2017) refuse help from their team after a big show overseas, confident they can handle it all on their own. But just days before Christmas, the brothers find themselves stranded in London. Determined to reunite with their families in New York, they embark on a chaotic journey full of unexpected surprises. A snowstorm grounds their flight, forcing them to drive, and after an accident on a snowy road and a run-in with a pack of wolves, their plans quickly
spiral into a series of misadventures. Also starring Randall Park (“WandaVision”), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Modern Family”), Chloe Bennet (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Billie Lourd (“Scream Queens”), Laverne Cox (“Orange Is the New Black”), KJ Apa (“Riverdale”), Andrew Barth Feldman (“Foul Play”), Kenny G (“Pretty Woman,” 1990), Priyanka Chopra-Jonas (“Baywatch,” 2017) and Danielle Jonas (“Married to Jonas”), “A Very Jonas Christmas Movie” is directed by Jessica Yu (“This Is Us”), produced by the Jonas Brothers, and written by Isaac Aptaker (“Love, Simon,” 2018) and Elizabeth Berger (“This is Us”).
A simple afternoon spirals wildly out of control in “Playdate,” premiering Wednesday, Nov. 12, on Prime Video. In this action comedy, recently unemployed accountant Brian (Kevin James, “The Crew”) agrees to a playdate with charismatic stay-at-home dad Jeff (Alan Ritchson, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” 2014) and their sons (Banks Pierce, “The Chosen Adventures,” and Benjamin Pajak, “Honeypot K.K.”). What starts off as an easy afternoon of small talk and football tossing quickly spirals into a fight to stay alive as they’re hunted by a team of heavily armed mercenaries. With zero tactical skills and even less composure, Brian is completely out of his depth, while Jeff’s oddly calm, combat-ready instincts raise more questions than answers. As the two dads navigate explosions, kidnappings and playground pandemonium, their friendship may be the only thing standing between them and disaster. Sarah Chalke (“Scrubs”), Alan Tudyk (“Firefly”), Hiro Kanagawa (“Star Trek: Discovery”), Stephen Root (“Barry”) and Isla Fisher (“Rise of the Guardians,” 2012) also star in this film from director Luke Greenfield (“The Girl Next Door,” 2004). Furthermore, “Playdate” is written by Neil Goldman (“Scrubs”) and executive produced by Lee Broda (“The Apprentice,” 2024).

Q: In the horror movie “All Eyes,” one guy refers to an ashtray on his table, saying it came from the set of “The Twilight Zone.” What was that about? Is that true?
A: There’s no record anywhere of whether it’s true or not. As for what it’s about, the short answer is that “All Eyes” (2022) director Todd Greenlee and his brother, Alex Greenlee, the film’s writer, are “Twilight Zone” megafans.
“We grew up loving that show,” Todd said in an interview with film reviewer Taylor Holmes.
“The story structure and tone really had a huge influence on the kinds of things we like to make. I love having the rug pulled out from underneath me.”
For those who haven’t seen it — and that’s probably most people, since “All Eyes” was an under-the-radar film that did the horror festival circuit but never got a wide release — there’s a scene in the film where an eccentric farmer (Ben Hall, “Killers of the Flower Moon,” 2023) is giving a tour of his house to a podcaster (Jasper Hammer, “Bay for Blood,” 2023). At one point, he picks up an ashtray from his table and says that it came from a “famous episode” of “The Twilight Zone.” When the podcaster asks which episode, he says, “Does it matter?”
That’s frustrating for those of us trying to trace the origin, but it serves the story: it hints at the farmer’s thorny and unpredictable nature, which is key to what follows.
Ashtrays do feature in a few episodes of “The Twilight Zone,” the groundbreaking, spooky
1960s anthology series (it was the ‘60s, after all — they were everywhere). For example, in the very first episode of the show, titled “Where Is Everybody?,” the main character encounters a cigar smouldering in an ashtray in what seems to be a completely abandoned town — a major plot point. Unfortunately, that ashtray looks nothing like the one in “All Eyes.”
Alternatively, the Greenlees could have included the moment in “All Eyes” as more of a metatribute to “Twilight Zone” creator Rod Serling, who reportedly smoked upwards of four packs a day and was frequently shown on screen with a cigarette in hand.
Q: I know Kat Dennings is in that new show with Tim Allen, but where is the other “Broke Girl” now?
A: That’s easy: she’s in “The Neighborhood.”
Beth Behrs (“American Pie Presents: The Book

of Love,” 2009), who played one of the titular “2 Broke Girls” in the hit CBS sitcom until it was canceled in 2017, wasted no time jumping into another comedy series. She’s been part of the fourhand ensemble cast of “The Neighborhood,” also on CBS, since 2018.
That means that it now forms a bigger part of her career than “2 Broke Girls,” which ran for six seasons versus “The Neighborhood’s” eight and counting.
If you haven’t seen “The Neighborhood,” Behrs plays Gemma Johnson, whose life shifts from small-town quiet to big-city bustle when she gets a job as a school principal in Los Angeles. She and her husband (“New Girl’s” Max Greenfield) move next to Calvin (Cedric the Entertainer, “Barbershop,” 2002) and Tina (Tichina Arnold, “Martin”), a Black couple worried about how their new neighbors will fit in.
As you say, her fellow “Broke Girl,” Kat Dennings (“Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” 2008), also got back into the sitcom game earlier this year with “Shifting Gears,” which is now already into its second season.
Q: What’s Meghann Fahy doing now? And is it more “Sirens”?
A: So far Netflix seems to be sticking to its description of “Sirens” as a “limited series,” so there’s no indication of more to come.
It’s not a spoiler to say that “Sirens” told a complete story in its five-episode season on Netflix last spring. And now the cast is moving on to
other things, particularly Meghann Fahy (“The Bold Type”).
Fahy earned an Emmy nod for her role in “Sirens,” playing a woman concerned about her sister’s (Milly Alcock, “House of the Dragon”) new job working for a wealthy New England family. She’s barely had time to rest on those laurels before leaping into multiple projects.
She already finished shooting “The Good Daughter,” a series in which she plays one of a pair of sisters (opposite Rose Byrne, “Neighbors,” 2014) recovering from a shared traumatic event. And she’s now shooting “You Deserve Each Other,” a feature-length rom-com in which she stars opposite Penn Badgley (recently of Netflix’s buzzy series “You”).
Once that wraps, she already has her next thing lined up: she’ll star in the supernatural thriller “Banquet,” about which little else is known.
For the record, Fahy told Variety magazine that she’d also be open to another season of “Sirens” if Netflix and series creator Molly Smith Metzler (“Maid”) wanted to make one. But she admitted that, at this point, it’s a hope rather than a plan. “I think it’s definitely within the realm of possibility. We didn’t talk about it on set, butI would love to do more.”
