Lay it on the ‘Line’ There’s a new law enforcement family on prime time. The cop family drama “Line of Fire” premieres Monday, Sept. 21, on NBC, and streams the next day on Peacock. The brand-new series stars Peter Krause (“Parenthood”), Hope Davis (“Succession”), Tommy O’Brien (“Grown-ish”), Kat Cunning (“The Deuce”) and Taylor Bloom (“American Horror Story”) as the Hollingsworths, a family sworn to serve and protect who suddenly find themselves in the crosshairs when a seemingly simple case points to them as the intended victims.

orking every step up the ladder of the family business is a reality for many people who grew up in family units entrenched in a specific line of work. Some people work their way up from dishwasher at the family restaurant, some apprentice to become the next generation in a lineage of tailors, but one passed-down profession in particular is like catnip for prime-time TV: law enforcement. The cop family drama “Line of Fire” premieres Monday, Sept. 21, on NBC, and streams the next day on Peacock. Law enforcement families are subject matter that TV viewers can’t seem to get enough of, from the long-running CBS drama “Blue Bloods” to Showtime’s “Dexter” and its spinoffs “Dexter: Original Sin” and “Dexter: Resurrection.” “Line of Fire” adds a little something new to the cop dramas we’re used to. Starring Peter Krause (“Parenthood”) as the patriarch of the Hollingsworths, the new series follows the family as they navigate what appears to be a targeted threat. From NBC, “A family of law enforcement agents bridges personal differences and crosses professional boundaries as they tackle cases for the FBI, U.S. Marshals, Secret Service and Department of Justice. After a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy, they must use the expertise from a lifetime of protecting civilians and politicians to protect one another and bring the killer to justice … even if it means betraying their sworn code.” “Line of Fire” was created and written by Joshua Safran, a titan of the prime-time drama world responsible for such TV hits as the original CW teen drama “Gossip Girl” and its 2021 HBO Max revival, NBC’s Broadway dramedy “Smash” and the ABC FBI thriller “Quantico.” Safran executive produces the series alongside “Today” show host and former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager and Ben Spector (“The House of the Spirits”). Mike Hollingsworth (Krause) is the first of two secret service agents in the family — his son Mike “Micah” Hollingsworth Jr. (Tommy O’Brien, “Grown-ish”) took his name and followed his father into the department. Though he may appear to be the apple of his father’s eye, Micah has gotten himself into some hot water in his very important, public-facing role as protection for the president’s daughter.
