The Oswego Light Festival will feature a laser light show as presented by Prime Laser Systems from Blue Bell, Penn. The free event will begin at 5 p.m. Jan. 21 in the village’s downtown area.
First Oswego Light Festival hopes to attract big crowd By JOHN ETHEREDGE jetheredge@shawmedia.com Like the sound from a vintage neon sign, there is a steady buzz building about the first-ever Oswego Light Festival. Tia Brooks, event coordinator for the village, confirmed she has heard comments and seen numerous posts on social media in recent weeks from area residents looking forward to attending the free festival set for the evening of Jan. 21, in the village’s downtown. “The event is geared toward younger people and families, but we’re getting
[positive] feedback from people who are looking forward to it,” she said. “We want people of all ages to come downtown and enjoy the atmosphere.” The festival will be staged on Main Street between Washington (Route 34) and Jackson streets from 5 to 9 p.m. and will feature a professional laser light show presented by Prime Laser Systems from Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Brooks acknowledged that January is not an optimum time for an outdoor community festival, but said the light show will go on no matter the weather. “So let’s hope for some good weather,” she said.
According to the event’s website, Prime Laser Systems’ light show will “illuminate and transform downtown Oswego into a magical playground.” The website describes the festival as an “interactive artistic collaboration of our community where residents will be treated to dream-like spectacle of art, music, theater and light.” In addition to the laser light show, the fest will feature a 10-foot LED robot, music provided by a DJ and food available for purchase from popular local vendors.
