Swedish Days would not be Swedish Days without a taste of Sweden represented. From music to food to specialized items, the Geneva Chamber has it on the schedule.
On Wednesday enjoy a traditional kick-off to Swedish Days. Strolling musicians will play music of Sweden, dressed in the colors of the country. Perhaps some dancing will ensue.
Friday is Kids’ Day and one of the Kids’ Day Parade categories is appropriately enough Swedish Spirit. Join in on the fun!
Saturday and Sunday finds Cambell Street becoming Sweden Väst. Vendors will be set up to engage you in Swedish history, tempt your tastebuds or offer unique Swedish inspired items. Nordic Folk Dancers will be demonstrating traditional Swedish dancing on the Courthouse Lawn. Vikings will take a break from their journeys to visit with festival goers. (see schedule for vendors, days and times). You can also catch those
Vikings joining in the parade on Sunday. Sweden Väst is sponsored by Stockholm’s and Friends of the Viking Ship. On Saturday, visit the Courthouse Lawn between 3rd and Campbell to play Kubb a Scandinavian Lawn Game. Kubb is an outdoor lawn game played on grass where opponents on each side of a small field try to knock down wooden blocks of the person they are playing before they knock down their blocks. There are rumors that Kubb was invented by the Vikings a thousand years ago, but it most likely started on the island of Gotland in Sweden, out in the Baltic Sea, in the 1920s or a little earlier. A lot of times people compare it to a combination of horseshoe, bocce, and bowling. Kubb has very strong roots in Sweden and the Scandinavian region.
Offsite, just east of downtown, over the weekend visit Good Templar Park and tour historic Swedish “tiny houses” known as Stugas on guided tours at Good Templar Park. While there, don’t miss the 1893 “VIKING” which is a full size replica of an original, excavated 1,000 year old Viking ship. In 1893, “VIKING” with its daring crew of 12 sailed nonstop across the stormy Atlantic from Norway to Canada, and then on to become a star attraction at the Columbian Exposition in Chicago. We are so excited to announce a full schedule of events for the 74th Swedish Days, supported by Northwestern Medicine and considered the “Granddaddy of Illinois Festivals”. The Geneva Chamber of Commerce has been working hard since the beginning of the year to organize, prepare and shape this grand celebration. We are bringing back all the favorite events. Our Craft Brew tent, Carnival, Parade (with many new and returning parade participants), Sidewalk Sales and topping it all off with our many scrumptious food vendors, all return to create this festival of fun.
The festival will begin on Wednesday, June 19th, showcasing our award-winning Geneva Park District and all they have to offer, which will include Geneva’s Got Talent semi-finals. The Carnival will be open, the Craft Brew tent will now open at noon each day and will be serving delicious craft selections, our non-profits will begin food sales and the Geneva History Museum will show you what makes Geneva special with their historic tours. We want this day to be about playing, eating, and
shopping in Geneva.
The Central Stage entertainment begins on Thursday with the Geneva Park District’s Geneva’s Got Talent finals and concludes on Saturday with The Ron Burgundy’s. Central Stage will be filled with all types of bands throughout the event. Go to genevachamber.com to find out the full entertainment schedule. Back by popular demand, we’re bringing back live entertainment in the Craft Brew Tent, celebrating young and upcoming talent from the area.
Wednesday and Thursday nights we celebrate Swedish Nights, a late night of fun sales and bargains. Visit the chamber website to see a list of participating shops open until 8pm or later. In addition, shops will have sidewalk sales all week long.
Unfortunately, due to road closures and other events beyond our control, we will not have our Swedish Days Car Show.

At Northwestern Medicine, better isn’t contained to a building. We are committed to helping everyone in Chicagoland live better, but we can’t do that alone. Instead, we partner with local organizations that know their community best. They want better health and well-being for their neighbors, and we offer the support they need to achieve their goals for long-lasting change. It’s one way we’re making communities better, one neighborhood at a time.
20th. A buffet breakfast will be served at 8:30 am. This event is open (and free) to all our residents that have lived in Geneva for over 25 years. We always welcome the presentation by our own Mayor, Kevin Burns.
Friday brings our Kids’ Day event, located at the Geneva Public Library. The day begins with the Kids’ Parade registration at 10:00 am at Fifth and Campbell streets. Look for the BIG yellow sign. Fun booths with interactive games, local entertainment including the School of Rock, Geneva H.S. Cheer squad performances, Cherry Berry Blast Face Painting Co., Papa Saverio’s pizza sales, cotton candy and much more are all part of this special day. Bring the kids down from 11:00 am-2:00 pm for a day of safe fun, inclusive for all families.
You can’t leave Swedish Days without first visiting Sweden Väst, our very own Swedish village with food, entertainment and games, all Swedish style for you, only on Saturday and Sunday located on the south side of the
courthouse lawn along Campbell St.
Sunday is our renowned Swedish Days Parade, a tradition for all families in the area.

This annual parade is an eye and ear opening experience with marching bands, colorful floats, extraordinary entertainers and local community groups and businesses. Our Swedish Days parade culminates a week of fun, food and friends.
Marshaled by many volunteers and coordinated by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, the parade steps off at 1 p.m., Sunday, June 23, and winds through downtown Geneva.
The parade path starts from the high school area at Center Street and Anderson Boulevard and continues south on Anderson turning east onto State Street. In the center of town the march will continue south on Third Street and disband at the Metra train station.
This community parade is everything you want a parade to be. Local organizations and businesses, floats, classic cars, music, performers and more. Celebration Brass and
Procession Brass returns along with the traditional kilts and bagpipes of Band of the Blackwatch. We welcome Big City Dixieland Band with Director Michael Bazan. Local favorites, the Crystal Lake Strikers Drumline will have you clapping along. In addition, the ever popular South Shore Drill Team will add to the elation.
Tumbling and leaping over everything will be the Jesse White Tumbling Team. Shriners from Aurora and Lake County bring a little bit of everything to Geneva. And of course, our hometown parade would not be complete without the local Scout troops carrying a flag that spans half a block.
Hometown organizations, bands and businesses - the excitement is something you won’t want to miss.

Performing concerts in the Midwest, the group is Illinois’ largest Swedish Children’s Chorus for ages 4-18. At 5:30 p.m. enjoy live performances by the Geneva Park District’s Angels Cheer & Poms Team, the Geneva Gymnastics Academy, Playhouse 38 youth performers, and the Geneva Park District’s Sunset Dance Academy. FRIDAY “night” begins at 3:00 p.m. with Blue Eyed Leo. An acoustic duo playing “music that matters.” At 5:00 celebrate with a rich sound of diversified musical cultures with Rico. WEDNESDAY, Danny Cohen begins our craft beer tent entertainment. Danny Cohen is a Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. His solo sets are a mix of originals and classic songs spanning from the 50’s to the current day.
THURSDAY enjoy Matt Shukin who after expanding his talent by playing many different
genres, including hard rock, thrash metal, punk, blues, jazz and soul, he found his own unique sound. With a versatile array of original material and cover songs, he provides not only quality music, but a good time On FRIDAY, a singersongwriter from Elk Grove Village who currently lives in Geneva, Nicole Devine. Nicole has been singing since she was 4 and playing live music since back in 2018 when Keith Urban brought her on stage to sing with him. This is her second time performing at Swedish Days and she is honored to be invited back. SATURDAY brings back the stylings of Holy Ghosted at noon. Andrea Schmidt, Mat Camerer and Ricky Bosworth join forces to create the ultimate cover band: Holy Ghosted. As the name hints, the trio was brought together by a shared loved of Jesus and music. While Mat and Ricky have been friends since college, Andrea met the duo at The Well church in Geneva. The three play on the church’s worship team together. The rest, as they say, is history. Danny & Katie O’Brien are back at 2:00 pm. A singer and guitarist with years of experience playing a wide range of music together. Their repertoire includes songs by Neil Young, The Beatles, Radiohead, Grateful Dead, Phoebe Bridgers and more.

The Kids’ Day Parade invites children through the age of 10 to enter in one of these parade categories Swifties, Swedish Spirit, Fun with Wheels and Geneva Vikings Fans. Decorate a bike, decorate yourself or do both. Register day of, beginning at 10 a.m., on the corner of Campbell & Fifth (look for the registration sign), judging at 10:30 a.m. Step off is at 11:00 a.m at same location. First place in each category will receive a Graham’s Fine Chocolates & Ice Cream Gift Certificate and first 50 registrants will receive a Buy One, Get One ice-cream coupon for Graham’s at check-in. Saturday evening includes a chance for kids to pretend to be a firefighter at the Geneva Fire Department Fire Truck Static Display on Third Street between State and James.

Dr. Kevin Kern is a board- certified physician with over 25 years of experience in emergency medicine and treatment of varicose veins. He combines his emergency medicine procedural training with a 10-year history of treating vein disease. Dr Kern offers patients best-in class treatment of venous insufficiency resulting in healthier legs and a better quality of life. Dr. Kern has a singular focus to care for patients suffering from chronic venous disorders such as: varicose veins, spider veins, venous ulceration, lower limb swelling (lymphedema), skin discoloration, cellulitis, and pain. Many patients have suffered, possibly undiagnosed, for many years and have had a very poor quality of life. Many individuals with venous insufficiency have been mistreated or undertreated. Dr Kern takes particular pride in treating patients who have had prior treatments from other specialists and are still symptomatic. The 1893 “VIKING” is a full-sized, 78-foot-long replica of an original 1,000-year-old Viking ship excavated in Norway. In 1893, “VIKING” with its daring crew of 12, sailed nonstop and alone across the stormy Atlantic from Norway to Canada. It then sailed on to Chicago, to become a star attraction at the famous 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. “VIKING” has been a popular attraction in Good Templar Park in Geneva for nearly 30 years. KUBB A SCANDINAVIAN LAWN GAME – on the Courthouse Lawn (between 3rd and Campbell) Kubb is an outdoor lawn game played on grass where opponents on each side of a small field try to knock down wooden blocks of the person they are playing before they knock down their blocks. There are rumors that Kubb was invented by the Vikings a thousand years ago, but it most likely started on the island of Gotland in Sweden, out in the Baltic Sea, in the 1920s or a little earlier. A lot of times people compare it to a combination of horseshoe, bocce, and bowling Kubb has very strong roots in Sweden and the Scandinavian region.

As the name hints, the trio was brought together by a shared loved of Jesus and music. While Mat and Ricky have been friends since college, Andrea met the duo at The Well church in Geneva. The three play on the church’s worship team together. The rest, as they say, is history.

Year after year, the prestigious Geneva Arts Fair showcases the work of over 155 fine artists from around the country. Designed as an interactive gallery, this year’s juried show will provide visitors with the opportunity to peruse multiple mediums and talk directly with the artists about their stunning displays. As they stroll down Third St. in Geneva, guests can enjoy art “en plein aire” and best of all, for free.
With historic homes, turned unique shops and tantalizing restaurants, as a backdrop; the blank canvas of Third Street becomes a stunning mix of ceramics, glass, jewelry, watercolors, photography, fabrics, oils, sculptures and wood - something for everyone to behold.

This event will open on Wednesday, June 19 at noon on James Street, just steps away from the Swedish Days excitement on Third Street, continuing through Sunday.
