POLICE PROBE DEATH IN GENEVA Few details emerge after death of 53-year-old man
GENEVA – Yellow tape surrounded a house Friday in the 0 to 100 block of Crissey Avenue, and police vehicles were parked near the home. Officials were investigating the death of a 53-year-old man, Eduardo Gutierrez, but as of Friday evening, there were few details being released. According to a news release from the Geneva Police Department, officials received a request for a well-being check Thursday and arrived at the home at 6:19 p.m. Thursday to find Gutierrez dead. His wife was home at the time, but police said the well-being call was made by someone who was not inside the home. Gutierrez’s wife was provided medical attention, “as standard protocol,” then taken to a local hospital for additional evaluation, according to the release. The release stated that police sought a search warrant,

and with the assistance of the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force, the warrant was executed at 2:30 a.m. Friday. Geneva police Cmdr. Julie Nash said the investigation continues to determine the cause of death. The release indicated that there was no one in custody. “There is no reason to believe there is any danger to the public,” Nash said. According to a news release issued by the Kane County Coroner’s Office, an autopsy was performed Friday at the Kane County Morgue, but the preliminary cause of death
