Kelsey Post has served as President & CEO for the past three years and has been part of the Chamber team for four. In her role, she proudly represents and supports more than 420 members across Kankakee County. With each passing year, the Chamber continues to grow, and for Kelsey, it’s the everyday moments that make the work so meaningful. Last fall, we officially moved into our new office located at 221 S. Schuyler Avenue, marking an exciting new chapter for our organization and the members we serve. This move reflects our continued commitment to being accessible, visible, and deeply connected to the business community.

State of the Municipality event returns in October
Following the success of its inaugural year, the State of the Municipality event is returning as a cornerstone gathering for community leaders, businesses, and residents across the county. Launched last year to provide a unified platform for municipal voices, this event reflects the Chamber’s commitment to ensuring all 17 municipalities it represents feel seen, heard, and supported.
The first annual event welcomed more than 220 attendees and featured updates and insights from the City of Kankakee, Village of Bradley, Village of Bourbonnais, Village of Manteno, Village of Hopkins Park, and Village of Herscher. The strong turnout and engagement highlighted the importance of fostering
communication and collaboration across our communities.
Building on that momentum, this year’s event will take place on October 1 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Majestic Theatre. As the event continues to grow, the Chamber is excited to expand participation and include even more municipalities in the conversation.

The Kankakee County Chamber’s most anticipated night of the year is right around the corner. Our 2026 Annual Gala will take place on November 19 at the Quality Inn, bringing together more than 320 business leaders, community partners, and members for an unforgettable evening.
As the final signature event of the year, the Annual Gala serves as a true celebration of the accomplishments, growth, and momentum we’ve built together throughout 2026.
This year’s theme, Casino Royale, perfectly captures the spirit of the evening—because we truly hit the jackpot with our members. Their continued support, engagement, and investment in the Chamber is what makes everything we do possible, and this event is designed to celebrate just how impactful that has been.
A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of our prestigious Business Awards. These awards recognize the individuals and organizations that go above and beyond to strengthen our business community. Honors include

Coffee & Connections: Brewing relationships that matter
In 2024, we launched a new networking initiative designed to bring our business community together in a meaningful way. Originally introduced as First Fridays, these events quickly gained traction with consistent attendance and engagement. While the foundation was strong, we recognized an opportunity to elevate the experience and create something even more impactful.
Last year, we reimagined and rebranded the program as Coffee & Connections and with that change came a fresh approach. Each event now features a unique networking theme, transforming the experience from a standard meet-and-greet into an interactive and intentional opportunity to build relationships.
This small shift made a big impact.
Attendance grew to an average of 35 participants at each event, but more importantly, the energy in the room was undeniable. Conversations became more engaging, connections more meaningful, and relationships began to truly take shape. We saw firsthand how creating a welcoming and dynamic environment encourages people to open up, collaborate, and support one another.
From speed networking and “dice breakers” to networking poker, trivia, and more, each event offers a creative twist that keeps participants coming back and eager to engage. These interactive elements not only make networking more enjoyable but also help break down barriers and spark authentic conversations.
As the saying goes, people do business with those they know and trust—and
Coffee & Connections is helping foster exactly that. By creating space for intentional relationship-building, we are strengthening our local business network and contributing to the overall economic vitality of our county.
Another exciting element of Coffee & Connections is our Networker of the Month recognition. At each event, we celebrate an individual who goes above and beyond in building relationships, engaging with others, and embodying the true spirit of networking. This recognition highlights those who are not only showing up, but actively contributing to a stronger, more connected business community.
We are especially excited to take this recognition one step further in 2026, as we look forward to crowning our very first Networker of the Year at our Annual
Gala this November. This honor will recognize an individual who has consistently demonstrated outstanding engagement and commitment throughout the year.
We kicked off this year with incredible momentum, welcoming over 50 attendees to our first Coffee & Connections event of the year. The enthusiasm and growth we’ve seen so far are just the beginning.

Ambassador Blitz Strengthening connections across Kankakee County
In 2024, we launched an exciting new initiative with a bold and meaningful goal: to ensure that every business in Kankakee County feels seen, valued, and connected to their Chamber. The Ambassador Blitz was created as a hands-on, personal approach to outreach—one that brings the Chamber directly to our members’ front doors.
With a small but mighty staff, we knew we couldn’t accomplish this ambitious goal alone. That’s where our incredible Chamber Ambassadors stepped in. Their enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment to our business community have been the driving force behind the success of this initiative.
Our first Ambassador Blitz in 2024 made an immediate impact, reaching over 100 businesses across the county. Building on that momentum, 2025 proved to be even more successful, with four separate blitzes connecting us with 302 businesses. And we’re already off to a strong start in 2026, having visited more than 70 businesses—and counting.
At the heart of the Ambassador Blitz is a simple but powerful idea: connection matters. By showing up in person, delivering a fun goodie bag, and taking time to listen, we’re able to strengthen relationships, gather valuable feedback, and ensure our members feel heard and supported.
We are incredibly grateful to our Ambassadors for embracing this initiative and helping us bring our mission to life. Their passion for our community is evident in every visit, every conversation, and every smile.
