Joseph Ambrose (r) stands next to a member of the United States Army at an event located in Joliet, Illinois.

Ambrose was a prominent World War I veteran born and raised in Joliet, being drafted in 1917. His photo from the 1982 dedicated of the Vietnam Memorial is often used for Veterans Day celebrations.

Following his tour during WWI, Ambrose is marked as having worked and lived in the Joliet area until his death in 1988. Date Unknown.
