Dr. Tom Hoover, a Newton Iowa historian, has written a book entitled How We Made The Gyrafoam: The Story of Two Midwestern Farm Boys Who Changed Washday Mondays Forever, which is now available. The book follows the life of Howard Snyder, raised near Rose Creek, Minnesota, and reveals the role Frederick L. Maytag, a farm boy from Laurel, Iowa, played as his benefactor and friend. Together these two outstanding men led The Maytag Company to the top of the washing machine world in 1926.
