Beneficiary Randy Taylor Randy and his wife, Pat, have lived in Galesburg for 47 years. They have three daughters; Melissa who lives in Des Moines, Amee who lives in Pella, and Samantha who lives in Lynnville. From those three daughters they have ten grandchildren ranging in age from 12 to 24. Randy was raised in this area until his father moved the family to Coon Rapids which is where Randy graduated. Randy is very active in this community. He and his wife Pat follow the grandchildren in all their activities as well as Randy taking sports pictures of all the sporting events in the area. On March 13 Randy suffered a heart attack which resulted in quadruple bypass open heart surgery. He was in Methodist hospital for a total of 12 days with eight of those days in ICU. He came home on the 23rd of May to recuperate. His recovery is progressing very well and he should be able to continue with his normal life. He and Pat are extremely grateful to the Sully Ambulance and EMT crew for their quick response and passionate care of Randy. They feel very blessed in this area to have such a fantastic crew caring for us. They would also like to thank the Pella paramedics that took over and the doctors and nurses at Methodist that gave him such tremendous care.

There’s Plenty To Watch On TV Without Having To Pay For Streaming, Cable Or Satellite (NAPSI)—When it comes to home entertainment, one of the latest innovations in TV viewing is really one of the oldest: the antenna—and budget-conscious consumers are thrilled. State Fair, promoting a program that is unique to Des Moines Area Community College’s Newton Campus. An eight-quarter court reporter training program began at DMACC Newton last fall with eight students, and there are already 28 signed up to begin the program this fall. Newton Campus Advisor Tom Shively was helping man the booth Thursday, and spoke highly of others who
are helping fill a void in an industry that desperately needs a newly trained workforce. “We used to talk to high school teachers who teach shorthand, but that isn’t taught in schools anymore,” Shively said. “So now, we have to find other means to get kids’ attention.” Shively said AIB College of Business had the state’s lone court DMACC | 3A
