The Newton Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency consisting of 27 sworn and 5 non-sworn employees and includes a school resource officer, narcotics detective, general crimes detective, K9 unit, SWAT team and motorcycle unit. Starting salary is $57,432 for non-certified entry level or up to $68,856 for Iowa certified lateral officers plus excellent benefits. Eligible certified officers may receive additional vacation hours and a bonus of up to $2,500 for successful completion of the FTO program.
