County Supervisor Hard work, purpose and teamwork play an essential part in my role as Assistant to the County Engineer in Jasper County. My dedication to see Jasper County as a leader within the state of Iowa has motivated me to run for the position of Jasper County Supervisor. The 38 years of experience working for the Jasper County Engineer’s office and the side by side communication with the Iowa Department of Transportation, will guide me in the knowledge and understanding it takes to be a strong Supervisor for Jasper County. During my tenure with the Jasper County Engineer’s Office I have been an active team member in several key components that resulted in improving the roadways and structures throughout Jasper County. These duties included: survey and design work, road construction and paving, along with the inspection duties that are required by the Iowa Department of Transportation. The Jasper County Engineer’s Office, in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Transportation afforded me the opportunity to travel throughout the state of Iowa to teach classes on roadway safety within construction projects; helping to keep employees safe while working on Iowa roads. I have also been responsible for maintaining and developing the Engineering budget required to keep the department on point financially and within the bounds of funding. Throughout my time in Jasper County I have been involved in several different activities which have developed a skill set conducive to be a candidate for Jasper County Supervisor. Some of the activities I participated in were: the Maytag sponsored Junior Achievement Team, the Newton branch of the American Business Women’s Association, a certified instructor with the Red Cross, and working with SHARE Iowa in the encouragement for volunteer work in our community. I believe that my experience working with budgets, IDOT funding, and the knowledge I have obtained from working on the county roadways will be an asset in performing the duties of a Jasper County Supervisor. It is my belief that the Jasper County Supervisors should work as a team in best interest of all citizens of Jasper County and that all decisions made by the supervisors should be made in an open public meeting as required by law.
