SPRINGFIELD – The GOP candidate for Illinois governor broadened his criticism of state agriculture officials Wednesday, saying the department was “full of cronyism� and has “folks run-
ning things that generally don’t have much expertise.� Winnetka businessman Bruce Rauner’s statements at a forum coordinated by the Illinois Farm Bureau featuring candidates for governor and U.S. Senate follow comments earlier this month.
Quinn campaign counter: Challenger corrupt
Pat Quinn’s challenger said the agency’s director “must have agriculture experience� – a shot at Agriculture Director Bob Flider, a former Democratic lawmaker who was named to the post after he lost a 2010 re-election race for the Illinois House. Flider had

DIXON – A Dixon man who is accused of killing his wife is seeking dismissal of two new murder charges. On July 18, Lee County State’s Attorney Anna Sacco-Miller added two more charges of firstdegree murder to the one already filed against Brian C. Sigler, 35. Sigler is accused of strangling his wife, Brian C. Yolanda, in their Sigler home on Jan. 12, 2013. According to the new counts, Sigler, “with the intent to kill Yolanda M. Sigler ... strangled [her], thereby causing [her death]� and “strangled Yolanda M. Sigler, knowing such acts would cause [her death].� CHARGES CONTINUED ON A4

end of the school year after spending the past 6 years as superintendent. The school board will accept applications until Oct. 6. Posting the job now, Juenger recently said, means the district is among the first wave to post superintendent openings and should have a better chance to be considered by high-quality candidates. Pam Tourtillott, president of the Dixon School Board, could not be reached Wednesday for comment about the search.
