Julie Miner, a fourth grade teacher at Fulton Elementary School in the River Bend School District, has received a $600 grant through Western Governors University’s “Fund My Classroom” initiative.

The funds will be used to purchase interactive board games for Miner’s fourth grade students, providing them with an opportunity to practice social-emotional learning skills while eliminating digital distractions.

Miner learned she was selected for the grant May 2 when WGU staff surprised her with a virtual check presentation.

Miner’s students have had to rely on technology more in the past two years than ever before, with increased screen time and limited capability to work and play together due to social distancing. The grant money received from WGU will allow Miner to obtain several board games for her students to play with during an allotted time each week, helping them build relationships with their peers, practice using teamwork and learn empathy from winning or losing. Miner selected a wide range of board games that will require students to use a number of strategies that stimulate the frontal lobe of the brain, as well as increase their comprehension and memory skills.

The innovative classroom project is one of 27 across Illinois chosen by WGU to receive funding. The nonprofit, fully online university issued a call in March for K-12 teachers across the state to nominate proposed classroom projects by April 17 for the opportunity to receive full or partial funding through its “Fund My Classroom” initiative. Miner’s proposal is one of more than 80 nominations received statewide. Most grants were awarded during Teacher Appreciation Week, which ran from May 2-6.

Road construction project underway in Fulton

A road construction project is underway on Eighth Street from 14th Avenue to 20th Avenue in Fulton.

Crews started on the underground portion the week of May 16, and the work is expected to take about two weeks to complete. Once that is done, the road will be grounded off and replaced with hot mix asphalt.

The project is tentatively scheduled for completion by July 1.

During the construction project, the road will be closed to through traffic, but contractors have left access to residential driveways.

It is recommended to avoid this section of Eighth Street while construction is taking place.

HONOR FLIGHT

The 53rd Honor Flight of the Quad Cities left the airport on Tuesday, May 24, and returned later that night to a sea of supporters waving American flags and welcoming home their heroes.

Tom Coussens of Rapids City and John Taylor of Moline, formerly of Port Byron and Rapids City, were two of the 94 veterans who made the daylong trip to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials dedicated to honoring their sacrifices. They were greeted with patriotic support the whole day and capped it off with a huge turnout at the Quad Cities International Airport on Tuesday night.

The Honor Flight was a few years in the making for all the veterans, most who submitted their paperwork and got their clearance for the trip in 2019. All Honor Flights were postponed during the pandemic, with the first one out of the Quad Cities in April 2022. This 53rd Honor Flight had one veteran from the Korean War and the rest were Vietnam War veterans.

The daylong adventures started with a morning arrival at Dulles International Airport and a cheerful greeting from more than 50 airport personnel. The vets and their guardians boarded the Honor Flight company buses and were escorted to the Air and Space Museum, the Iwo Jima Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Military Women’s Memorial, World War II Memorial, the Washington Monument and the Air Force Memorial near the Pentagon.

They also visited Arlington National Cemetery to witness the Changing of the Guard and visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The thoughtful touches throughout the day, from attentive and seasoned trip coordinators, nurses on standby, mail call letters from family and friends, a flag memorial, a group photo at the Lincoln Memorial, being “well fed,” and each Vietnam veteran getting pinned from a member of the Memorial War Association made the trip a heartwarming experience for the aging veterans who answered the call to serve their country decades ago. Though it was a rainy day in D.C., the veterans in their gold jackets experienced a whirlwind trip of a lifetime.

Before boarding for the flight home, the veterans were again greeted at Dulles by grateful citizens and more than 150 Boy Scouts lined up in the terminal to send them off. Tom

Tom served in the Air Force from 1963-1967 and was trained in nuclear security. After his service, he worked at John Deere and the Rock Island Arsenal, and also was on the Port Byron Fire Department, ultimately serving as chief. He married Carole in 1969 and they have two children, Tom Jr. and Tricia Danley, who encouraged him and helped with paperwork for the Honor Flight. These days, Tom enjoys woodworking and stays busy with home projects and making wooden crosses for gifts.

Tom’s guardian was Kevin Holt, a farmer from Eldridge who was also on his first Honor Flight and commended

by Tom for his recently acquired wheelchair pushing skills. Since he uses a cane, Tom had to be in a wheelchair but said he was “eternally grateful” for his guardian’s help.

John served in the Air Force from June 1964 to June 1968. He said the trip was special because all the veterans were given guided tours at the memorials and because of the patrio-

tism on full display. His face lit up while telling of the handmade cards from schoolchildren and the middle school kids on a field trip from Grand Island, New England, who lined up to shake their hands and thank them for their service. He hadn’t seen the Women’s Memorial or Air Force Memorial in his previous trips to the nation’s capital.

John was greeted at the airport by his wife of 54 years, Patty, and many other family members. After his military service, John and Patty lived in California for a time, where he worked at a post office and then a chain and gear company. They moved back to Illinois and had homes in Port Byron, Cordova, and Rapids City, with John working and eventually retiring from IH and the manufacturing industry.

The couple moved to Moline about five years ago. They have two daughters, Rochelle Plumb and Tracy Elder.

The two men hadn’t seen each other in years until the Honor Flight orientation and dinner a couple of weeks ago, where they were able to reconnect. They first met while living in Port Byron years ago – their children were friends and rode the bus

together. Both men later found out they served in Guam around the same time, where the B-52 bombers bound for Vietnam were loaded up.

As the veterans were welcomed home Tuesday night, the love and support shown at the airport topped off their momentous day in the capital. Tom’s wife, Carole, said that every American, and especially school children, should come out to greet the Honor Flight veterans. “It’s really something to see,” she said. Patriot Guard members lead the veterans through the terminal and to their waiting families while flags are waved, music is played and tears are shed.

The flight was sponsored by Hy-Vee, which raised $50,000 for the veterans and their guardians to make the flight to the nation’s capital. This was the 12th trip the company has sponsored and a memorable one for having eight women, the highest number yet on a Quad Cities Honor Flight. Eileen was born September 22, 1943, in Clinton, IA, to Ralph “Bud” and Fern (Point) Reedy. She was educated in the Albany and Fulton schools. She later attended nursing school in Clinton at the former Mount St. Clare College. She graduated with a Bachelor

of Science in Nursing. She began her career as a radiology technician and worked as a nurse and nurse practitioner in various states throughout her life. One of her greatest achievements was being a flight nurse on the helicopter. She ended her career with Mercy Hospital in Clinton, IA, continuing education in respiratory therapy and radiology technician. Eileen was an avid book collector, traveling all over with her niece to obtain new books, first editions and signed copies.

Between the two, their collection is well over 10,000 books.

Survivors include her niece, Jill Seifried of Albany, IL; two great-nephews, Michael (Sheila) Seifried of Texas and Patrick Seifried of Cedar Rapids, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Vernon Reedy; one nephew, Randy Reedy; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

After two and a half months of training at the Albany Fire Protection District station, the spring 2022 NREMT Basic Class wrapped up last week. Nine students passed the initial training course and will move on to clinicals and ride time before taking their national exam.

The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians courses were taught on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays by Brooke and Dan Posateri of Albany, with assistance from other volunteer instructors. Congratulations to the students for completing the NREMT, which sets them on a path to be EMTs in their communities. Sauk Valley Community College to have EMT training program DIXON – Sauk Valley Community College will be holding an Emergency Medical Technician Basic training course in the fall. The program will run from Monday, Aug. 1, to Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Sauk Valley Community College campus.

The EMT program is designed to train police, fire, rescue personnel and people interested in the techniques of prehospital emergency care. Students will gain the knowledge and skills to provide basic emergency medical assistance to people in need. The course will combine reading, lecture, computer-based and online learning, significant study time and practical labs. Skills that attendees will learn from the course include patient assessment, splinting, airway management and appropriate interventions.

The course will include 84-plus hours of classroom training, clinical experience and field experience for students. After completion of the course, candidates are qualified to take the examination for certification in Illinois.

EMTs must have good physical stamina, endurance and body conditions to handle significant walking, stooping and lifting. Students also must be able to balance items and patients that weigh a minimum of 125 pounds. To become certified as an EMT, candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent at the time of the course’s completion. Participating students will complete 25 hours of clinical practice with at least 10 hours of patient contact hours outside of the scheduled class time, The course will cost $799. Textbooks will be an out-of-pocket expense for students. Class sessions will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug. 1 through Dec. 14. Classes also will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, Monday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 1, and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A pyramid and tropical scene, complete with flowers and birds, is the newest addition to the wall of Erie High School Spanish teacher Laura Windish’s classroom. The mural will greet next year’s Spanish class students and provide a unique backdrop while they learn the language and culture.

Each year, the Spanish IV class has the honor of painting a mural in the classroom to recognize the students’ commitment in taking all four years of the class. Each student finds a way to contribute, whether drawing, painting, mixing paint or cleaning brushes, and their class year is hidden somewhere within the mural.

The mural has been a yearly tradition since 2001, said Windish, though it first started with a couple of murals in the older school building. While she always picks out the design and subjects from inspirational pictures or places she’s visited with student travelers, such as the Galápagos or Machu Picchu, it’s the students who draw it out and do all the painting.

This year’s bold and bright mural was extra large and covered up the murals from 2001 and 2003. “The reason they got such a large space is because they were an unusually large group for a Spanish IV class – 23 students from the class of 2022, which I’m pretty sure is the largest level IV I’ve had in my 32 years with EHS,” Windish said.

A few other murals from past classes already have been painted over, but there’s also been some murals completed outside of the classroom.

Even if the art is fleeting, the tradition and the teamwork will be remembered by the students and their teacher.

“I’m always blown away by how well the students do and how good it

turns out. As I tell them, ‘You will be gone next year, but I will be here seeing this mural every day, so I need to love it.’ And I DO love each of them,”

1982: Fulton High School selects three valedictorians 60 Years

May 30, 1962

Modder’s Department Store announced it has new owners, Mr. and Mrs. Earle Amman. The new owners are renaming the store to Amman’s Department Store. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Modder, former owners, are thankful for having served Fulton for many years.

Officers of the Fulton High School Class of 1962 are Roger Fiet, president; Terry Chase, secretary; and Karen Feldt, treasurer.

50 Years

May 31, 1972

A group of Fulton businessmen, headed by Richard Kummerer, bought at auction the Van Zuiden acreage comprising about 50 acres in north Fulton at a price of $79,900. Purchase of the land set off rumors that the purchasers were planning to build a golf course or to start a large residential housing development in the area.

A permanent traffic counter has been installed on the blacktop road leading to Lock and Dam 13. The tally is important as the number of users determines what future improvements

will be allotted to the public use area.

40 Years

June 2, 1982

The Fulton City Council voted to approve payment of the balance on a bill owing $6,400 for a recodification of city ordinances. The vote for paying Book Publishing Co. for the work was unanimous after aldermen agreed there was no way to avoid paying it. The action came after a discussion in which everyone agreed that the work was unsatisfactory, but no one was willing to place the blame for the dissatisfaction.

For the first time in Fulton High School history there are three valedictorians. They are Terry Holesinger, Linda Leonard and Daniel Medenblik.

Terry Wiebenga was close behind with an average of 3.92.

30 Years

May 27, 1992

Amy Snyder captured a third-place medal in the 400-meter dash at the girls state track meet in Charleston. This was the third year in a row for the Fulton athlete to win a medal at the state meet after finishing eighth as a freshman and seventh as a sophomore. She

set a school record of 58.03 seconds.

Six athletes will represent Fulton High School at the IHSA boys state track meet. They are Nate Snyder, Jim Engelkens, Curt Dykstra, Aaron Lesniewski, Dennis Hoese and Benji Grant. This is the 18th straight year that Fulton has qualified boys to participate in the state meet.

20 Years

May 29, 2002

Gov. George Ryan proposed a $590 million tax increase on cigarettes, riverboat casino operators and real estate transactions, including home sales, to cover what he called “the most serious financial problem that our state has faced in almost 50 years.” If passed, it is good news for the Thomson Correctional Center, which with the increase in taxes will be able to open in January 2003. In November 2001, it was learned that the facility would not open in 2002 because legislators had never approved the $12.8 million in spending needed to hire workers and open the prison.

Several years ago, Drives Inc. donated a small park on First Street to the city of Fulton. Since the windmill was installed just north of the park, it

became simply known as Windmill Park. With council action, the park officially will be known as Alfred and Sylvia Den Besten Memorial Park. A memorial plaque will be erected at the site and will list them as the founders of Drive Inc.

Iowa Department of Transportation officials thanked Mayor Russell and Illinois Highway 30 Coalition Coordinator Barb Suehl for providing a detailed overview of the impacts of a potential delay in completing the Illinois four-lane portion of Highway 30.

The Iowa officials are placing their emphasis on completing Highway 30 improvements on to Cedar Rapids.

The third annual Cemetery Walk, sponsored by the Fulton Historical Society, was held at Fulton Township Cemetery. The walk paid tribute to Fulton servicemen from WWII, especially those fallen heroes who made the supreme sacrifice. The young Fulton men who made the sacrifice in WWII include J. Allen Wiersema, Stewart Wiersema, Paul Heun, Henry Dornbush, Henry Post and Bernard Snyder.

Illinois Elks Children’s Care Corporation, in cooperation with Northwest District Elks Lodges, will sponsor a free children’s podiatry assessment clinic Thursday, June 23, at Morrison Family Care Clinic, 303 N. Jackson St., Morrison. Dr. David Yeager will be the clinician in charge.

Erie Middle School students help clean up Erie Shaw Local News Network Erie had another community cleanup day on Thursday, May 19, thanks to the help of Erie Community Unit School District 1.

More than 200 middle schoolers and adults spent the afternoon volunteering at 17 locations around the community, making a visible impact.

The students were able to complete an impressive list of tasks. They planted flowers in the small triangle; planted flowers, picked up sticks, watered trees and pulled weeds in Heritage Park; cleaned up pine cones, pine needles and sticks in the cemetery; cleaned the yards of eight community members; put a coat of sealer on the planters in the downtown; swept the parade route in preparation for the Memorial Day Parade; washed fire trucks and cleaned the inside of the station in preparation for the department’s pancake breakfast;

“This cleanup and the one on April 29 with 190 high schoolers proves how much we can accomplish as a community when we come together to work toward a common goal. One person’s efforts alone might seem so little or unnoticeable, but when we work together, we can change the whole community around us,” she said.

Bridgman also thanked Whitney Misfeldt, Modern Woodmen of America for sponsoring the supplies for both cleanup events. She said the funds enabled the youth to make an impact in the community while providing an experience that will last a lifetime.

REF grant supports CNC plasma cutter for Riverdale Shaw Local News Network The Riverdale Education Foundation awarded a grant to Riverdale High School for $1,300 toward a CNC plasma cutting table and software for the high school agriculture education classroom. The award supplements a grant that teacher Richard Houzenga received from Compeer Financial to purchase this equipment.

“The plasma table has allowed me to expand the curriculum and student

experiences in a few ways,” Houzenga said. “First, I will be able to add more applicable design lessons where we can design something and then create it by cutting it on the plasma table. We will do this using Fusion 360 similar to AutoCad or Inventor Desk to design parts or signs, etc. The next thing I’m working on expanding is manufacturing technology lessons, which will teach about creating parts similar to something you may do at John Deere or many factories in the Quad Cities,

then using these parts to weld and repair things which will expand my welding curriculum also.

“Another thing I plan to expand on is being able to teach more business-type curriculum. We’re hoping to run a sign/ knick-knack type business while creating an FFA SAE record book for a student or two running this business. Overall, it will have a positive impact on the classroom, students and the Riverdale FFA chapter as a whole.”

The Riverdale Education Founda-

tion is in its 31st year of providing educational support to the Riverdale School District. The foundation provides grants to classrooms and programs in the district and offers scholarships to graduating seniors, as well as coordinates sports physicals for the district. Area middle schoolers find success at state meet Shaw Local News Network

Fifteen area schools had athletes earn top-nine medals at the IESA Track and Field State Meet over the past two weekends at EastSide Centre in East Peoria, with nine earning gold medals, 10 taking second place and 13 finishing third.

Morrison won three titles in Class 3A and placed second as a team. Brady Anderson won the eighth grade 200 (24.60) and took third in the 400 (54.31).

He also teamed with Koltin Swaim, Kamden White, Rylan Alvarado and Levi Milder to win the 4x400 (3:50.38) and place second in the 4x200 (1:40.14).

Alvarado won the seventh grade state title in the long jump (19-5 1/4) and took second in the 200 (24.34). White finished fifth in the seventh grade high jump (5-5). Noah Robbins was sixth in the eighth grade discus (101-11).

Erie also sent a large contingent to the 2A state meet. In eighth grade, Aubrey Huisman took third in the pole vault (8 feet) and teamed with Stella Ashdown, Brynn Brown, Ellie Johnson and Kaylee Keegan to take third in the 4x200 (1:56.02). Amiah Stubblefield was fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.86) and teamed with Saige Froeliger, Lauren Abbott, Ashlyn Johnson and Keegan to finished fourth in the 4x100 (54.36). Isaac Carlson was sixth in the pole vault (7-9), Conner Keegan took seventh in the 400 (57.26), and Ashlyn Johnson, Huisman, Brown, Froeliger and Aubrey Misfeldt placed eighth in the 4x400 (4:40.71).

Erie’s seventh grade medalists were Sawyer Copeland (5th in shot put, 36-10 1/2), Nathan Punke (6th in pole vault, 7-6) and the 4x100 team of Elijah Franzen, Tristan Hovey, Ashton Miner, Copeland and Jackson Meier (7th, 52.32 seconds).

Prophetstown PLT won four 2A medals in the seventh grade meet. Sarah Link finished fifth in the long jump (1410 1/2) and ninth in the 800 (2:34.45).

Maddie Porter placed eighth in the shot put (25-9 1/2). Link and Porter teamed with Kayler Pritchard, Violet Anderson and Lauren Malone to take ninth in the 4x200 (2:01.77).

For Riverdale’s eighth graders, Katie Cox finished sixth in the shot put, Kenadie Willemkens finished fourth in the 100 and 200 dashes and Breaden Body

finished eighth in the 1,600 and seventh in the 800.

Seventh grader Amarah Coleman placed third in the discus, Preslie Willemkens finished fifth in the 100 and 200, Ethan Swift placed eighth in the 110 hurdles and fourth in the 400 and Nate Supan finished 13th in the 1,600. Jillian

Murray ran against the eighth grade girls and finished 14th in the 1,600.

The seventh grade boys relay team of Brady Junis, Baylor Smith, Dalton Loy and Brennan Huggins finished 13th.

The girls relay of Cayleigh Hungate, Isla Baldwin, Channing DeLaRosa and Willemkens finished fourth.

Area athletes earn medals at IHSA state championships CHARLESTON – The IHSA Boys Track and Field State Championships wrapped up Saturday at O’Brien Field as Class 1A, 2A and 3A champions were crowned in each event.

In the Class 1A 4x400, Morrison’s Justice Brainerd, Brady Wolf, Thomas Dauphin and Alex Anderson took fourth in a tight race, finishing .21 seconds behind third-place finisher Rockford Christian.

Although the Mustang relay team was aiming a little higher, it was still pretty satisfied with the final result.

“It’s a tough race when you know you have any other team that is really good next to you, so you’re really competing for that first spot,” Dauphin said. “Obviously, we set our goals high, so we wanted to win, but we got fourth. We’re not displeased. We were one of eight teams coming into this, so ... finishing fourth is pretty good.”

“It was tight when we got the baton, but when we got to the cutoff we were all in there with the other three teams,” Wolf said. “And then on the second lane I passed somebody, but I put myself in a good position, striking distance. I came around the corner with the baton, the handoff wasn’t very good, so I think that affected us in the third

leg, but I felt like I did all I could and put my team in a good position. We came in 18th and we went fourth, so we’re all looking to win it, but fourth is good.”

Anderson and Brainerd wished they had run better, but knew they gave it their best shot.

“I didn’t run my best. I hit a wall at the 200, and I finished awful,” Anderson said. “We came in ranked 18th. Our goal at first was just to make it to the finals and then we ended up running like a 3:26 and we wanted to take gold home.”

“I feel somewhat satisfied, but not satisfied enough. I gave it my all, but I guess I just couldn’t keep up.

There’s so much talent out here and there’s so much speed to where it’s hard to match yourself,” Brainerd said. “You really gotta find that eighth gear and just go when you can go. I can’t complain [about finishing fourth]. We came in here ranked, what, 18th? And we finished with the podium. Our ideal spot was top three, but I’ll take top five. Still can’t complain. It’s still somewhat of a Cinderella story.”

Braxton Froeliger was the lone medalist for Erie-Prophetstown, placing ninth in the Class 1A long jump with a leap of 6.42 meters. The Panthers’ Trevor Cobo missed out

on a medal, finishing 14th as one of five high jumpers to clear 1.85 meters. Parker Holdorf, the third E-P qualifier, cleared 3.8 and 3.9 meters in the pole vault prelims, but did not make his opening height in the finals.

Riverdale junior Tommy Murray brought home a pair of top-four medals, taking third in the 1,600 and fourth in the 3,200.

Murray clocked a 4:21.98 in the 1,600, finishing behind only Isaac Teel of Pinckneyville (4:17.59) and Daniel Winkelman of Harvest Christian Academy (4:19.37).

“I’m all right with it,” Murray said of his mile run. “I was hoping to PR again, but I don’t think I was able to. I’m happy it’s done. I put everything out there. There’s nothing else I can do about it.”

In the 3,200, Murray ran a personal-best 9:31.76 to set a school record.

Kieran Subra of Lycée Français de Chicago won the title in 9:15.58.

“I was very surprised with the 3,200. I think I had almost a 19-second PR from earlier this season to now,” Murray said. “Very happy about that.

“Kind of had a mental block all year for 3,200. And just going out there and doing that, getting 9:31, I think. It felt good.”

VILLAGE OF ERIE, WHITESIDE COUNTY, ILLINOIS PROPOSED APPROVAL OF REDEVELOPMENT PLAN AND REDEVELOPMENT PROJECTS, ESTABLISHMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT AREA AND ADOPTION OF TAX INCREMENT ALLOCATION FINANCING THEREFOR NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Village President and Village Board (the “Corporate Authorities”) of the Village of Erie, Whiteside County, Illinois (the “Municipality”) will hold a public hearing for the purpose of hearing all protests and objections in connection with the proposed approval of a redevelopment plan entitled “Erie TIF District Redevelopment Plan and Project” (the “Redevelopment Plan”), establishment of a redevelopment project area to be known as the “Erie TIF District Redevelopment Project Area” (the “Redevelopment Project Area”) and the proposed adoption of tax increment allocation financing therefor (“TIF”) under and pursuant to the Tax Increment Allocation Redevelopment Act (65 ILCS 5/11-74.4.1 et seq.), as supplemented and amended (the “Act”), including notice as follows: 1. 2. The boundaries of the proposed Redevelopment Project Area by legal description are attached to and immediately follow this Notice of Public Hearing. The proposed Redevelopment Project Area consists of approximately 223 parcels and related rightsof-way, the boundaries of which, by street location where possible, are as follows: The proposed Erie TIF District Redevelopment Project Area encompasses 223 parcels of property and rights-of-way in the Village of Erie. Generally, this Area encompasses parcels in the central portions of the Village, as well as the northern, eastern, and western boundary areas. Beginning at the northeast portion of the corporate boundary, the Area takes in properties adjacent to Lake Erie and continues south to take in properties in the downtown area. North of the downtown the boundary takes in properties in the north of Highland Avenue and west to the corporate boundary, and continues south to Moline Road. Southeast of Main Street the Area takes in properties in the southeast portion of the Village.

3. The Corporate Authorities of the Municipality will give all interested persons and all affected taxing districts an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing. In addition, any interested person or any affected taxing district may file written comments with the Municipality at or before the public hearing regarding any issues embodied in the subject matter of this Notice of Public Hearing by directing such comments to the attention of the Village Clerk, Village Hall, 740 Main St, Erie, IL 61250 (Telephone: (309) 659-7740).

The proposed Redevelopment Plan, which includes in reasonable detail the basis for the eligibility of the Redevelopment Project Area under the Act and a description of the proposed redevelopment projects, is on file and available for public inspection at the office of the Village Clerk of the Municipality located in the Village Hall, 740 Main St, Erie, IL. In general, such Redevelopment Plan sets forth the program of the Municipality to alleviate, as applicable, blighting and/or conservation conditions in the Redevelopment Project Area and to enhance the tax base of both the Village and the taxing districts having taxable property within the Redevelopment Project Area by utilizing TIF to fund various eligible redevelopment project costs to stimulate private investment in the Redevelopment Project Area. These eligible redevelopment costs may include, but are not limited to, professional services (including analysis, administration, studies, surveys, development of plans and specifications, including staff and professional service costs for architectural, engineering, legal, environmental, marketing or other services); property assembly, including acquisition of land and other property, real or personal and related disposition of land (including up to 100% write-down or reimbursement); demolition of structures, site preparation and the clearing and grading of land; rehabilitation, reconstruction, repair or remodeling of existing public or private buildings, fixtures or leasehold improvements; the construction of public works or improvements (construction or reconstruction of rights-of-way, additional safety barriers, streets, roadways, curbs and gutters, street lighting, sidewalks, bicycle pathways and public utilities, including storm and sanitary sewers, and lift stations); financing, including any related to the issuance of obligations; interest costs incurred by a redeveloper related to the construction, renovation or rehabilitation of a Redevelopment Project; and relocation expenses to the extent that the Municipality determines that these costs shall be paid or are required by federal or state law. Steamers lost in a sectional semifinal Friday, as the WarHawks broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the top of the fourth, then scored a pair of insurance runs in the fifth at Lions Park in Lena.

Jacob Jones, Ian Wiebenga and Kannon Wynkoop had hits for Fulton, and the lone run in the second inning scored on an error. Brock Mason gave up four earned runs and seven hits in four innings, with four strikeouts and two walks, while Jones struck out five in three innings of shutout relief, allowing three hits and two walks.

2A Knoxville Sectional Brimfield 10, Erie-Prophetstown 1:

The underdog Panthers’ postseason run came to an end in the sectional semifinals, as Brimfield scored four

runs in the third inning and five in the sixth.

Connor Sibley had a hit and an RBI for Erie-Prophetstown, and Kolby Franks and Mikey Biba also had hits.
