YOUR ENVIRONMENT Solar energy educational grants available to area schools
Solar energy contractor, Stateline Solar, will reward an Illinois Solar Schools Grant to help schools install 1kW solar photo voltaic systems to teach students in kindergarten through 12th grade in public schools about solar energy.
The grant is open to all 501(c) (3) nonprofit organizations that are either a private school or educational organization that provides continuous educational services to help schools cover $6,500 or 90% of the cost for their display solar energy system.
The company is offering to help any local school apply, design and install their system, and even provide educational materials and in-class presentations once social distancing rules subside.
This grant provides an opportunity for local area schools to educate students on renewable energy, construction of solar installations, and a glimpse into an upcoming job industry. “Being able to share our passion for renewable energy with our local schools is something Stateline Solar has always wanted to do,” said Hilary Fiene, chief office manager and developer of Stateline Solar’s educational programs. “This grant opportunity is something we are very excited to bring to our community.”
Stateline Solar also has started a summer internship program for high school and college students to receive hands-on experience in the solar industry.
Internships can be customized to individual interests and strengths, leaving all participants with worthwhile education and work experience.
To learn more, call Stateline Solar at 815-580-3011.
