Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle reports the following police activity

May 18

At 2:51 p.m., deputies along with Monroe Center EMS responded to a two vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of Illinois Rte. 72 and Kilbuck Road. Robert Kesler, 32 of Kirkland, was driving eastbound on Rte. 72 near Kilbuck Road in a Ford Cargo van.

Rachel Sievert, 21 of Davis Junction, was driving behind Kesler in a Nissan Altima. Kesler was slowing down to allow a vehicle to turn north onto Kilbuck Road from Rte. 72. Seivert was unable to reduce to speed to avoid colliding with Kesler’s back bumper.

Both vehicles received disabling damage. Kesler and Sievert were both seen by medical personnel and did not receive any injuries. Sievert was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

At 5:56 p.m., deputies along with Leaf River EMS responded to the intersection of 3rd Street and Main Street in Leaf River for a vehicle vs bicycle accident with minor injuries.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an 11-year-old bicyclist was traveling southbound on N Main Street approaching the intersection of 3rd Street. Monica Spear, 33, of Leaf River, was traveling westbound in a black GMC pickup truck on 3rd Street also approaching the intersection at Main St.

It was determined that the juvenile bicyclist entered the intersection before Spear’s vehicle cleared through the intersection, causing a minor collision.

The juvenile was treated for minor injuries on scene by Leaf River EMS.

May 20

Ricky Green, 56 of Milwaukee Wisconsin, was arrested at 1:10 p.m. for driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 7000 block of South Illinois Rte. 2.

He was also issued citations for improper lane usage, failure to signal and expired registration.

Green was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released to Correctional Staff and held in lieu of bond.

May 21

At 5:12 p.m., deputies along with the Lynn Scott Rock Fire Dept. responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries on I-39 near Mowers Road.

A northbound vehicle driven by Kevin Abbott, 36, of Peoria had stopped in traffic when it was rear ended by a vehicle driven by James Hopkins, 34, of Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

An adult female passenger in Abbott’s car was transported to the Rochelle Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Hopkins was arrested by deputies for driving while license revoked and held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Jail. Hopkins was also cited for uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Justin Williams, 32, of Rockford, was arrested for driving while license suspended after being stopped on Hwy 251 near Davis Junction for speeding. Williams was held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Jail.

Tianna R. Cornell, 20 of Tampico, was arrested at 10:35 p.m. for driving while license suspended following a traffic stop in the 5000 block of N. Illinois Rte. 2.

Cornell was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond.

She was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and issued a written warning for inoperable rear registration light.

May 23

Alejandrino Hernandez, 27, of Dekalb was arrested for driving without a valid license on Rte. 64 near Chamberlain Road after being stopped for speeding.

Hernandez was held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Jail.

May 24

Javier Rodriguez, 23 of Waukegan, was arrested at 8:47 p.m. for no valid driver’s license following a traffic stop in the 11000 block of W. Illinois Rte. 72.

He was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal window tint. Rodriguez was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

May 26

Debora L. Waters, 43, of Davis Junction, was arrested at 5:44 p.m. for driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 10,000 block of E. Illinois Rte. 72. Waters was also issued a citation for speeding.

She was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was released to Correctional Staff and held in lieu of bond.

May 28

At approximately 7 p.m., deputies responded to an address in the 100 block of South Maple St in Stillman Valley in reference to a domestic problem. Corey Kelchner, 36, of Stillman Valley, was arrested for domestic battery.

Kelchner was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was being held pending an appearance before a judge.

May 29

Kayla Boyenga, 31 of Dixon, was arrested at 12:34 a.m. for possession of a controlled substance (crack/cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended following a traffic stop in the 2000 block of N. Illinois Rte 2.

Boyenga was also issued citations for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

She was transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was released to correctional staff and held in lieu of bond.

James M. Love, 33, of Rockford, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. for driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop on E Illinois Rte. 64 at Interstate 39.

Love was also issued a citation for speed. He was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released to Correctional Staff and held in lieu of bond. investigated a domestic problem in the 2000 block of North Freeport Road. Matthew Strohecker, 27, of Freeport, was arrested for aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Strohecker was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held pending an appearance before a judge.

At approximately 9:18 p.m., deputies responded to the 11000 block of E. Fisher Road in reference to a possible accident in that area.

After an investigation, it was determined that Leonel Torres-Meza, 38, of Rochelle struck a parked vehicle that was unoccupied in a driveway.

Torres-Meza was subsequently arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol and issued citations for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report a vehicle accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage. Torres-Meza was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released to correctional staff and held in lieu of bond.

Ivan Lugo-Tellez, 39, of Des Moines, Iowa was arrested at 8:40 p.m. for no valid drivers license following a traffic stop on I88 at mile marker 77 eastbound. He was also cited for no insurance and unlawful transportation of alcohol. He was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was held in lieu of bond.

May 30

Kiernan Jacobson, 21, of Rockford was arrested for driving while license suspended on I-39 near Monroe Center after being stopped for speeding. He was held in lieu of bond at the jail.

Alexis D. Cantrell, 22 of Chana, was arrested at 12:04 a.m. for driving on a suspended license following a traffic stop in the area of 1000 E. Illinois Rte. 64 for an equipment violation. Cantrell was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond. Cantrell was also cited for not having a registration light.

Bentley Grell, 24, of Sterling was arrested at 5:16 p.m. for unlawful possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of cannabis 30-100 grams following a traffic stop in the 3000 block of South Freeport Road.

A passenger in the vehicle, Andres Arellano, 24, of El Paso, Texas was arrested for unlawful possession of cannabis in a motor vehicle. Grell and Arellano were transported to the Ogle County Jail where they were held in lieu of bond.

POLO POLICE

Polo Police Chief Tim Rockwood reports the following police activity.

May 24

Cade M. Roschi, 19, of Byron, was cited at 7:51 p.m. for speeding, 59 mph in a 35 mph speed zone and for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Roschi was issued an I-Bond.

May 25

Kenneth E. Pearson, Jr, 62, of Polo, was cited at 12:20 p.m. for failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident. Pearson was issued an I-Bond.
