At around 1:18 a.m., deputies attempted to perform a traffic stop on Interstate 39 mile marker 105. Larson failed to stop and deputies pursued his vehicle. The pursuit ended at mile marker 112. Larson was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond. The Illinois State Police District 1 assisted.

At 5:26 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a crash involving injuries at the intersection of north Illinois Route 26 and North Freeport Road. An investigation showed that a 2004 Toyota Rav4 driven by Jennifer N. Bookman, 31, of Freeport, was stoped at the stop sign on North Freeport Road. Bookman then proceeded into the intersection with Route 26 and was struck by a southbound 2020 GMC Terrain driven by Shawnda R. Ludwig, 52, of Forreston. Bookman was extricated from the Toyota and transported by Forreston EMS to FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport with potentially serious injuries. Booman’s juvenile passenger was uninjured. Bookman was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. Forreston Fire and EMS and the Illinois State Police assisted on scene.

Sept. 3

Jessica Stoll, 40, of Byron, was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol after deputies responded to the 900 block of West Egan Road at around 1:10 a.m. in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Stoll also was cited for illegal parking and operating a vehicle with an expired registration sticker. Stoll was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

At 2:22 a.m, deputies responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash in the 2700 block of East Lynn Road, in Byron. An investigation showed that a 2000 Mercury Sable driven by Ethan A. Heslop, 18, of Byron, was traveling west on East Lynn Road when Heslop failed to negotiate the road’s curve. The vehicle exited the roadway and overturned. Heslop and his juvenile passenger both were uninjured. Heslop was arrested for illegal consumption as a minor (zero tolerance). He also was cited for too fast for conditions, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of cannabis by a minor. Heslop was released on an I-Bond and give a future court date. The Byron Police Department and Byron Fire Protection District and EMS assisted on scene.

Ashley M. Kreeger, 20, of Shannon, was arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license after a traffic stop at the intersection of Illinois Route 26 and Illinois Route 72 at around 2:40 p.m. Kreeger was released from the scene on an I-Bond and given a future court date.

Scott L. Ide, 29, of Rochelle, was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop in the 2000 block of east Illinois Route 64 at around 7:25 p.m. after deputies received a driving complaint from a concerned motorist. Ide also was cited for improper lane usage, improper transportation of alcohol as a driver and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Ide was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

Jeffrey Carter, 21, of Chicago, was arrested for aggravated fleeing to elude a peace officer, endangering the life of a child and driving while license revoked after deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the intersection of east Illinois Route 38 and Interstate 39 at around 9:40 p.m. Carter failed to stop and deputies pursued his vehicle, managing to stop Carter at I-39 mile marker 102. Carter also was cited for disregarding a traffic control device, speeding, illegal window tint, no taillights, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and expired registration. Carter was transported to the Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond.

Sept. 4

At about 6:54 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of South Knoll Road for a rollover crash with injuries. Deputies learned Alan Krug, 19, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was driving a 2015 Ford Fusion northbound on South Knoll Road when he lost control of his vehicle on the gravel portion of the roadway. Krug traveled off the east side of the roadway where the vehicle overturned several times in a cornfield before coming to rest. Krug and his passenger, Gage Pobanz, 19, of Chebanse, were transported by Rochelle EMS to the Rochelle Community Hospital for minor injuries. Krug was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Flagg Center Fire Protection District and EMS assisted.

At about 9:22 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the intersection of West South and South Center streets in Creston for a hit-and-run crash. An investigation showed that a SUV driven by Omar Salazar, 19, of Elgin, was traveling east on South West Street directly behind a sedan driven by a juvenile female from Elgin. Salazar rear-ended the sedan, at which time he fled from the scene. Salazar was located a short time later and was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol. He also was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. The female juvenile was arrested for no valid driver’s license and was given an I-Bond. She was released from the scene to a parent.

Sept. 5

Sara R. Quezada, 24, of Rockford, was arrested for driving while license suspended after deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at Lake Louise Campground, 8840 Illinois Route 2, at 12:58 a.m. Quezada also was cited for an inoperable rear registration light. Quezada was released on an I-Bond and given a future court date. The Byron Police Department assisted on scene.
