Besides Oregon and SV, the only other schools able to field three levels of football are Dixon, Byron and Winnebago. As private schools, Rockford Christian and Lutheran are either up or down.
If there was a surprise score in the conference, it was Lutheran edging North Boone. Supposedly Lutheran is a bit like Oregon with lot of younger kids playing.
Defending 8-man state champ Polo starting the season 0-1 is an aberrat i o n , b u t n o t t o t a l l y u n e x p e c t e d. When you lose your all-everything quarterback and most of your line, it’s a rebuilding year.
With that program in solid hands, the Marcos will be OK this season, though.
The NUIC looks sim ilar to last year as Forreston, Fulton, Du-Pec and Le-Win came up with resounding wins. We will learn more this Friday when Du-Pec travels to Forreston, which is where I plan to be.
What better place to be on a Friday night. I was told I missed a good concert at the Mt. Morris band shell last Friday with a Chicago cover group.
That’s OK. I got to see the Little Prairie Mennonite Church put on a cappella singing performance Sunday afternoon at the band shell. With all the good concerts at Park West and Mt. Morris, that was my favorite.
And don’t forget about our talented high school bands strutting their stuff Friday nights under the lights. It wouldn’t be football without them.

Aug. 15
Tabatha L. McLaughlin, 47, of Dixon, was arrested at 12:46 p.m. for driving while license revoked. McLaughlin was transported to the Ogle County Jail. These violations occurred near the intersection of Illinois Street and W. Washington Street.
At 3:16 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of S. 4th and Madison Streets where a 2014 Dodge driven by Stevie C. Harrison, 34, of Dixon, was struck by a 2020 Jeep driven by Edward C. Campbell, 53, of Dixon. No citations were issued.
Sebastian P. Tinnes, 27, of Carroll, Iowa, was issued citations at 8:36 p.m. for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. These violations occurred in the 500 block of W. Washington Street.
Aug. 16
At 8:27 a.m., police responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash in the 700 block of W. Washington where a 2014 Volkswagen driven by Jacob A. Taylor, 29, of Oregon, struck a 2001 GMC driven by Roberta L. Macauley, 77, of Oregon. No citations were issued.
At 9:21 a.m., police responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash in the intersection of W. Washington and N. 2nd Streets involving a 2015 Toyota driven by Christine M. Telkamp, 71, of Oregon, and a 2019 Buick
Aug. 19
At 6:19 p.m., police responded to a motorcycle crash in the 1200 block of S. 2nd Street resulting in William H. Parkinson, 60, of Oregon, being issued a citation for driving under the influence of alcohol. Parkinson was transported by EMS for injuries he sustained in the crash.
At 9:12 p.m., Oregon Police arrested Christopher A. Johnson, 29, of Letart, West Virginia, was arrested at 9:12 p.m. for driving while under the influence of alcohol, unlawful possession of cannabis as a driver, and driving while under the influence of alcohol with blood alcohol content greater than .08%. Johnson was also issued citations for disobeying a traffic control device, and improper lane usage. He was transported to the Ogle County Jail. These violations occurred at the intersection of 4th and Washington Streets.
Aug. 20
Sarah A. Johnston, 23, of Forreston, was issued a citation at 2:04 p.m. for operation of a vehicle with a suspended registration. This violation occurred in the 400 block of W. Washington Street.
Suzanna L. Osmani, 51, of Glen Ellyn, was arrested at 7:47 p.m. for driving while license suspended. Osmani was transported to the Ogle County Jail. This violation occurred in the 100 block of S. 4th Street.
Robert W. Stubblefield, 55, of Sycamore, was arrested at 9:04 p.m. for driving while under the influence of alcohol and aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol/license suspended or revoked. Stubble field was also issued citations for operation of a vehicle with a suspended registration, failure to dim headlights, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was transported to the Ogle County Jail. These violations occurred in the 500 block of N. 4th Street.
Aug. 23
At 12:20 a.m., police responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of N. 5th Street resulting in the arrest of Stasha D. Helms, 37, of Leaf River, for criminal trespass to real property, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, and aggravated battery to a peace officer. Helms was transported to the Ogle County Jail.
Aug. 26
Randy W. Reinhold, 30, of Oregon, was arrested at 8:14 p.m. on an outstanding Lee County warrant for failure to appear. Reinhold was transported to the Ogle County Jail.
Aug. 27
Rebeka M. Blades, 37, of Rockford, was arrested at 9:26 p.m. on an outstanding LaSalle County warrant for contempt. Blades was transported to the Ogle County Jail.
At 3:23 p.m., police responded to a car vs pedestrian crash at the intersection of Washington and 4th Streets where a 2016 Nissan driven by Haley M. Mizner, 23, of Oregon, struck a pedestrian, David B. Putnam, 68, of Oregon. Mizner was issued a citation for failure to yield right-of-way to pedestrian in crosswalk. Putnam was transported by EMS for injuries obtained in the crash.
Aug. 28
Victori P. Fenske, 37, of Oregon, was issued a citation at 10:04 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle when registration suspended for non-insurance. This violation occurred in the 900 block of Pines Road.
Police responded to the Ogle County Jail and met with Krystal D. Quigley, 37, of DeKalb, issuing citations for failure to use turn signal, improper lane usage, passing in a no passing zone, reckless driving, and speeding, 100 mph in a 55mph zone. These violations occurred at 12:46 p.m. between the areas of 500 block of E. Washington Street and the 2900 block of E. IL Route 64.
Ten parking citations and 21 verbal warnings issued Aug. 15-28.

responded to the 14000 block of West Milledgeville Road at around 7:38 p.m. for a report of damage to property. The juvenile also was cited for operating an ATV/ non-highway vehicle on the roadway. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident and released on-scene. Aug. 29
Estevan Munoz, 22, of Rochelle, was arrested for no valid driver’s license after a traffic stop in the 18000 block of east Illinois Route 64 at 5:51 p.m. for an equipment violation. Munoz also was cited for illegal window tint. Munoz was released on a signature I-Bond and given a return court date.
Luis Romero Amaya, 32, of Rockford, was arrested for no valid driver’s license after a traffic stoop at Illinois Route 72 and Limestone Road at 2:43 p.m. after deputies received a report of a reckless driver. Romero Amaya was released from the scene on an I-Bond and given a return court date.
Glenn G. Wille, 41, of Davis Junction, was arrested for driving while license suspended after a traffic stop in the 4600 block of north Illinois Route 251 at around 8:08 p.m. Wille also was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and an inoperable registration light. Wille was taken into custody without incident. Wille was released from the scene on a $2,500 I-Bond and given a return court date.
