Ryan Reeverts of Byron, a former Illinois FFA Reporter, was the guest speaker. Oregon area farmers were guests of Rotarians and heard Ryan address, “The Dynamic Changes of American Agriculture!” Reeverts is standing next to Stan Eden (far right) who was program chairman for the day. RIGHT: Reeverts recently graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in agricultural business. He was an outstanding 4-H and FFA member and served as Illinois FFA State Reporter. He currently serves as chairperson of the Ogle County Farm Bureau Young Leaders committee. He said there is more interest in direct marketing of agriculture products “Consumers have a growing interest in knowing more about where their food comes from,” he said. This picture is of Reeverts from 2018 when he spoke to Oregon Rotary as State FFA Reporter.

Oregon Police Chief Shawn Melville reports the following police activity.

March 14

At 2:16 p.m., police investigated a two-vehicle traffic crash in the 200 block of S. 3rd Street involving a 1998 Dodge driven by Francis G. Case, 71, of Pennville, Indiana, and a parked 1998 Jeep belonging to Devin E. Black, 26, of Oregon. No citations were issued.

March 22

At 9:15 a.m., the Oregon School Resource Officer (SRO) issued a city citation to one juvenile male, 15, of Mt. Morris, for violating Ordinance 6-84, possession of tobacco products and alternative nicotine products. This violation occurred on the Oregon School Bus at the Chana Educational Center.

April M. Foster, 38, of Mt. Morris, was issued a citation at 5:33 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle when registration is suspended for noninsurance. This violation occurred in the 400 block of N. 6th Street.

March 23

Laura L. Mills, 39, of Rock Falls, was arrested at 9:49 a.m. for driving while license suspended and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mills was also issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and operating a vehicle with an obstructed windshield. Mills was transported to the Ogle County Jail. These violations occurred in the 300 block of W. Washington Street.

At 11 a.m., the SRO officer issued a city citation to one male juvenile, 14, of Oregon, for violating Ordinance 6-84, possession of tobacco products and alternative nicotine products. This violation occurred at the Oregon High School, 210 S. 10th Street.

March 25

At 12:57 p.m., police investigated a hit and run that had occurred at some point throughout the previous evening in the 900 block of Madison Street involving an unknown vehicle that had struck a parked 1996 Toyota belonging to Anthony C. Walsh. Anyone who may have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Oregon Police Department at 815-732-2162.

Two parking citations and 12 verbal warnings were issued March 21-27.

Accepted items include aerosol spray cans of paint, auto care/lubricants, food products, insecticides, household cleaners, and personal care products. Some aerosol products may not be accepted. 14-16 ounce small propane tanks and isobutene tanks also accepted. First 10 items are fully subsidized by the Solid Waste Mgmt. Dept. Additional items, you pay full cost to recycle ($1/spray can & $2/propane tank). See website or Facebook for full list of acceptable aerosol products.
