Oregon Police
Scholarship applications for Performing Arts Guild are now available at the Oregon High school guidance office or can be downloaded from the website at www.performingartsguild. com.
These scholarships are limited to individuals living in Mt. Morris and Oregon or attending the Oregon School District 220.
Applications are open to anyone interested in studying the arts. This includes, but is not limited to, performing, directing, teaching drama, music, visual arts, technical crafts, set design, etc.
The deadline for applications is April 4. Scholarships will be awarded on May 18 during the OHS Honors Night Assembly.
Serenity Home and Hospice event April 6
Serenity Home and Hospice will host its first Art Dash Fundraiser at Cork and Tap, 305 W. Washington St., Oregon, on Wednesday, April 6 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Tickets are divided into two categories, “Dasher” which cost $100 and “Spectator” which cost $50.
The fundraiser will feature 50 local artists from throughout the nine counties that are serviced by Serenity, all of whom have donated original artwork worth at least $100.
After the “Art Preview”, three attendees who have purchased “Dasher” tickets will be randomly selected to dash for an art piece of their choosing. Every “Dasher” will have the opportunity to go home with an art piece.
“Spectators” will not have the opportunity to “Dash” for art. Both “Dashers” and “Spectators” will be able to enjoy live music, light bites, view the art and mingle with many of the artists.
Funds raised will be used to help continue to provide care and free, ongoing bereavement services.

OREGON POLICE
Oregon Police Chief Shawn Melville reports the following police activity.
March 7
At 1:30 p.m., Oregon’s School Resource Officer (SRO) issued one 17-year-old male juvenile, of Oregon, a civil citation for possession of cannabis not more than 10 grams, a civil citation for possession of a wax-like substance containing THC and issued a city citation for violating ordinance 6-84, possession of tobacco products and alternative nicotine products. These violations occurred in the Oregon High School student parking lot. The student was then released into the school’s custody.
Jamie L. Sparrowgrove, 35, of Rockford, was issued a citation at 2:26 p.m. for operating a vehicle in violation of the tinted front side windows law. This violation occurred in the 600 block of North Fourth St.
March 8
At 3:42 p.m., police investigated a two-vehicle traffic crash in the 1100 block of Jefferson Street involving a 2015 Dodge driven by Angela J. Harrolle, 45, of Chana, and a parked 2019 Nissan owned by Jessica L. Kiesling, 37, of Oregon. No citations were issued.
Uriel Moreno, 32, of Rockford, was arrested at 4:02 p.m. for driving while license suspended. Moreno was also issued a citation for operating a vehicle when registration is suspended. Moreno was transported to the Ogle County Jail. These violations occurred in the 500 block of North Fourth Street.
At 6:43 p.m., police placed one 15-year-old male juvenile into limited custody for the offense of battery. The juvenile was released into his parent’s custody with a referral to the Ogle County State’s Attorney’s Office for review.
Jeffrey M. Billeter, 64, of Byron, was arrested at 9:49 p.m. for driving while under the influence of alcohol. Billeter was also issued a citation for improper lane use. Billeter was transported to the Ogle County Jail. These violations occurred in the 100 block of North Fourth Street.
