PATRIOTIC TRADITION

Sarah Ford for Shaw Media

Marvin and Cindy Smith sit on their front porch on Monroe Street in Hillsdale on Sunday, July 3, enjoying the peace and quiet before the neighborhood fireworks began. The couple, who will be celebrating their 49th anniversary on July 6, decorate their home and yard for every holiday, and still have yellow ribbons tied to a tree 17 years after their son went to war in Iraq. Cindy said she loves decorating in red, white and blue and it’s important to keep that patriotic tradition alive.
