Conference prediction: “Glenwood can be so deep in all events. Same thing with Harlan,” Schlapia said.

“But I tell you what, we’ve got our boys, what events we are going to have, we’re not going to back away from anybody. Our boys have had success and that’s what I like about them. They’re not going to back away from anybody.”

Conference prediction: “If we can get everybody to buy into the plan, then I think this could be our best shot based on talent and depth,” Arnold said.

Arnold expects Harlan and Glenwood to once again be right at the top of the conference, as well.

Clarinda has a pretty good boys team. We’ll have a learning curve in jumping into new positions. Once you get past that first year of something new, it gets a lot better.”

Conference prediction: Red Oak won its 15th straight H-10 title last year and was state team runner-up. Clarinda, Kuemper Catholic, Shenandoah and Creston were the other top teams. Creston was third behind Red Oak and Clarinda in the H-10 tournament.

“Red Oak lost two of their top four players, but you know they’ll be good again,” Cooper said. “Clarinda and Shenandoah will be good. Right now we have no seniors in our varsity lineup, and we’re learning how to play in new positions, with a couple of letterwinners not coming out. There really isn’t a team out there that is so dominant that we can’t go out and compete with, as our new varsity kids gain experience.”
