Parade of Homes celebration scheduled By BAILEY POOLMAN

The saying goes: “Life’s a parade.” And, Creston will be hosting a parade with a focus on an important part of life: the home. Southwest Iowa Homebuilders Alliance is hosting the organization’s annual Parade of Homes Saturday. The event will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with seven homes on the
parade route. “The Parade of Homes is the one big thing that we do per year here at the Southwest Iowa Homebuilders Alliance,” said Paul Lorenz, treasurer of Southwest Iowa Homebuilders Alliance. “It’s where the homebuilders get to show off recent homes built, and people can get ideas either for new home construction down the road or, perhaps, improvements.” Admission is free.
Homes Businesses or public entities, such as Southwestern Community College or Winterstien Construction, that are members of the alliance can show a home the employees or students built during the parade. Other members can set up booths within the homes with more information about the alliance, as well as information about the business.

Afton Pre-Fourth celebration Sunday features classic car show AFTON — Afton Lions Club is making plans for its annual Pre-Fourth Celebration to be held Sunday in Afton City Park. The event will begin with a community church service at 10 a.m. followed by lunch served by Afton Methodist Women.
