WELCOME! While 2020 was a year of challenge I look forward to Bolingbrook’s future after witnessing the community come together in support of each other and local businesses during the pandemic. Over the years, I have come to admire the strong sense of community camaraderie that makes Bolingbrook unique. Neighbor helping neighbor is at the core of American society. I see this quality in Bolingbrook reflected by residents who shop small business, support local events and commit time to organizations and groups. In 2020 the residents and businesses certainly “talked the talk and walked the walk.” The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce joins the “community chorus” in asking you to spend your money where your house is! Every time you shop Bolingbrook, 68 cents of every dollar you spend is reinvested somewhere in the community. Shopping small helps businesses hire employees as well as donate valuable time, goods and services to local causes. The most compelling case for shopping local - besides saving retail jobs - is the vital income generated supports law enforcement, fire protection and street maintenance. In 2021, it is particularly essential for residents to think “Bolingbrook first” when shopping for everyday purchases. NETWORKING BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT GROUPS
In response to the growing diversity among our Chamber members, and in an attempt to meet the needs of the various demographics within the Chamber, several special interest groups were formed. With the exception of BANG, membership in these groups is included with the basic membership investment. Each groups holds its meetings and keeps their own mailing list. We are certain that once you begin to attend these functions, you will see the incredible value associated with a full investment into the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce.
THE SMALL BUSINESS COALITION (SBC)
is a collaborative group whose goal is to share best practices, gain knowledge from each other’s experiences, help each other solve issues, and explore business development opportunities. Each month the meeting discussion revolves around a specific topic, and topics are determined in advance by the group. The SBC meets on the last Friday of every month (except December) at 7:30 a.m. at the Chamber office or virtual.
Member and non-member rates for events are available. Women in Business is sponsored by AMITA Health and Basic Crating and Packaging.
THE NONPROFIT COALITION was established
to bring together nonprofit organizations serving a variety of needs and causes in the community; the Board members who serve these organizations; and charitably-inclined business leaders who support them.
THE WOMEN IN BUSINESS (WIB) organization is designed to foster professional development, personal growth, community involvement, and strategic relationships for female leaders in our community. We meet every other month; the locations and programs may vary.
For 2021 the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce and the Romeoville Chamber of Commerce continue to partnering to offer monthly events either in person or vitual. From a panel discussion featuring Ulta senior management to a health topic addressed by AMITA doctors to golf lessons at Mistwood Golf Dome, the WIB is offers women a variety of developmental programs and networking events.

Public Services & Development combines Public Works, Community Development and Planning & Zoning departments providing services to residents with respect to public right of way and infrastructure. THE PROMENADE BOLINGBROOK OFFERS MORE THAN SHOPPING AND RETAIL The intersection of Boughton Road and I-355 is a hub of transportation; allowing travelers access to the northwest or southwest suburbs with a simple on-ramp. However, that intersection is one of Bolingbrook’s hubs of retail thanks largely to The Promenade Bolingbrook. Built in 2007, The Promenade was part of a new generation of shopping centers called lifestyle centers; and is anchored by Macy’s, Bass Pro Shops ULTA and H&M. Combined with the drawing power of nearby IKEA/Costco/Bed, Bath& Beyond and the even closer Meijer store, the northeast corner of Bolingbrook gives the village its retail core. COVID-19 posed challenges to an already challenged industry-retail. Promenade management was able to stay the course, working with their tenants to maximize visibility and foot traffic once Illinois re-opened for business. Socially distant weekly events like the Street Market, quarterly offerings such as the themed craft weekends and even the mini-Taste of Bolingbrook drew people eager to safely experience some semblance of their pre-pandemic lives. Restaurants erected tents and interior streets were closed to increase outdoor dining while parking spots were designated for food delivery and pick up services. Two restaurants, Danny’s Neighborhood Pub and Bonchon opened during the pandemic and quickly found support from residents. Escape hOUR Room, CG’s Comedy, iPic and Salt Bar, and Prince Arcades add further to the amenities available at The Promenade. The variety of restaurants at The Promenade and the immediate area round out the destination offerings. With Longhorn Steakhouse, Islamorada Fish Company, Ted’s Montana Grill, bd’s Mongolian Grill, Bar Louie, Francesca’s, Two Pints Beer Lounge, Tanaka Ramen, MORA Asian Kitchen, Mago Grill and Cantina, MOD Pizza, Chipotle, Buffalo Wild Wings, Five Guys, Snow Factory and IHOP, there is something that will appeal to all taste buds. Having weathered COVID-19 The Promenade will continue to be a destination in 2021 and beyond.

BIG IMPROVEMENTS
PARK DISTRICT UPGRADES FACILITIES FOR COMMUNITY Coming out of our 50th anniversary in 2020, Bolingbrook Park District is excited for what is in store for 2021. Even though 2020 didn’t turn out as we all planned, Bolingbrook Park District was still able to complete projects as a result of the successful 2018 referendum ask. Future visitors to Pelican Harbor Aquatic Park will enjoy the new Lazy River Island. This feature includes a new shelter, four shaded areas with tables and benches for additional seating within the park. A bridge connects the island to the rest of the park. This addition makes great use of former wasted space in the park. When time outdoors was so important, we were able to install five new playgrounds to explore. These playgrounds included: Central Park (201 Recreation Drive), Indian Boundary Park (990 W. Boughton Road), Indian Chase Meadows (525 Pheasant Chase Drive), Riverbend Park (1940 Danube Way), and Remington Lakes Sports Complex (811 W. Remington Boulevard). We loved seeing the joy
these parks brought to so many families in their time of need. The fun will continue into 2021 with five additional playgrounds up for renovation. These playgrounds include: Plimmer Park (401 Lily Cache Lane), The Forest (1399 Carriage Lane), Ivanhoe Park (190 Falconridge Way), Drafke Park (1125 Quail Run), Century Park (1675 Apple Valley Drive). The biggest project of 2020 was the renovation of the Bolingbrook Recreation & Aquatic Complex. This exciting project fulfilling the community’s wishes with the addition of five family changing rooms, new program space, renovated fitness and aquatic locker rooms, and more! We cannot wait for you to use all of these new amenities. In addition, you will see new programs, services, and revamped events with a focus on wellness and safety. CHAMBER STAFF Kevin O’Keeffe Executive Director Kevin graduate from the University of St. Francis in Joliet with a degree in Broadcast Communications and has been Executive Director of the Chamber since 2014. During this time the chamber experienced continuous growth year over year. Prior to coming to the Bolingbrook Chamber, he was the Director of Membership for the Elmhurst Chamber, and prior to that owned Fontano’s Subs for over six years. While owning Fontana’s, Kevin joined the Elmhurst Chamber and eventually became Chairman of the Board. His hobbies include being a high school basketball, football and lacrosse official.
Grace Tucker Manager of Communications, Membership Services, and Events Grace has been a resident of the Village of Bolingbrook since 1976. She graduated from Bolingbrook High School then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English from Loyola University of Chicago. She comes to the Chamber after 25 years in print and web journalism including the Daily Herald in Arlington Heights, the Chicago Tribune and most recently was the managing editor of Bugle/Sentinel/ Enterprise newspapers. She is also a commissioner on the Bolingbrook Arts Council Commission.
Saba Rashid Office Manager Saba has been with the Chamber since 2014: directing all general office activity, fulfilling bookkeeping responsibilities, as well as managing the Community Center’s rental spaces. She graduated from Romeoville High School then received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Benedictine University. She loves being part of Bolingbrook, her hometown.
