‘And unto us a child is born ...’ By Terri Simon tsimon@bcrnews.com
Participants in the live nativity scene in Walnut portray Mary and Joseph during the annual event, held during the weekend. The live nativity scene had three sections, where people could view the Christmas story by walking past or driving by in the warm comfort of their vehicles. The Walnut Community Bible Church sponsored the event. Earlier in the month, the Sheffield United Methodist Church also held its live nativity in front of the church. With snow flying, the Christmas story came alive for those who braved the weather to see the event. Those of us at the Illinois Valley Scene and the Bureau County Republican wish you and yours a beautiful Christmas holiday — filled with many memory-making moments, surrounded by those you love. We urge you to be safe as your travel to the homes of friends and family, and we hope Christmas 2016 will be one you’ll always remember. IVS photo/Mike Vaughn
