Area food pantries gearing up for the holidays Putnam County Food Pantry volunteer Bill Haage gets ready to receive a package of food unloaded from the Midwest Food Bank last week. With the holidays around the corner, the area food pantries in Bureau and Putnam counties are preparing for holiday food and gift baskets. During the season of giving, food pantries appreciate donations of foods and supplies, especially paper goods, cleaning supplies and non-perishable food items. Food pantries in Bureau and Putnam counties serve hundreds of families a month and thousands of individuals, and the assistance they receive in public support is appreciated year-round. Monetary donations are always appreciated, since each food pantry can buy food from the area food banks at a considerably reduced cost. For information on how you can help or where to donate, contact your local food pantry. IV Scene photo/Dixie Schroeder
