Are you ready to Relay? The annual 2016 Relay for Life of Bureau County steps off at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 30. The event — a fundraiser for cancer research and outreach services for cancer patients and their families – will be held at Zearing Park, just off of South Euclid Avenue in Princeton. This year’s theme is “Masquerade: Unmasking A Cure.” The event is free to attend and open to the public. Relay teams will walk around the track from 3 to 11 p.m. Many of the team members have secured pledges for their efforts, which will ultimately go toward the $35,000 goal the Bureau County Relay for Life has set. There are plenty of other opportunities to donate to the cause as well. There will be no shortage of events, activities and fun for all — cancer survivors, their caregivers, Relay teams, families, friends and the public. Those who attend the event can expect to see some great entertainment, enjoy some good food, hear some motivational speakers and leave the event feeling inspired by the people you see and meet there. Opening ceremonies begin at 4 p.m.; the luminaria ceremony begins at 9 p.m.; the closing ceremony is at 10:30 p.m. There will be plenty of activities, games and more throughout the day/ evening.
