We will remember Residents throughout Putnam and Bureau counties will have the opportunity this Memorial Day weekend to show their patriotism and appreciation to the country’s veterans through numerous special Memorial Day community services. American flags will be waved and placed on the graves of area veterans.

Some communities will have special parades and remembrance services. Originally called Decoration Day, the Memorial Day holiday was first observed May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of the Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Area towns announce Memorial Day services ARLINGTON — Harold E. Russell 938, American Legion, Ladd, will host Memorial Day services at 9:45 a.m. May 26 at the Calvary Cemetery.

BUDA —Buda America Legion Post 261 will conduct Memorial Day services at 10 a.m. May 26 at Hopeland Cemetery, west of Buda.

CHERRY — Harold E. Russell Post 938, American Legion, Ladd, will host Memorial Day services at 8:45 a.m. May 26 at the Cherry Miner’s Cemetery.

DALZELL — Harold E. Russell Post 938, American Legion, Ladd, will host Memorial Day services at 11:15 a.m. May 26 at the Dalzell Memorial Park.

DEPUE —The Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 4602 will hold Memorial Day services at 11 a.m. May 26 Veterans’ Park.

St. Mary’s Cemetery, DePue, will have a Memorial Day Mass at the cemetery at 9 a.m. May 26.

Cars should be parked facing north; bring lawn chairs. Coffee and rolls will be served in the parish hall after Mass. In case of rain, Mass will be in the church.

DOVER — American Legion Post 125 of Princeton, AMVETS Post 180, VFW Post 4323, American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125 and the Princeton DAR will perform Memorial Day honors at the Prairie Repose Cemetery on Route 34 in Dover at 9 a.m. May 26.

GRANVILLE — The Granville American Legion will met at 9 a.m. May 26 at the Legion building to get organized. From there, they will march to the Granville Cemetery arriving at 10 a.m. Judge Scott Shore will give the address.

HENNEPIN — Hennepin Post 1044 American Legion will be holding Memorial Day services at 9 a.m. May 26 at the Florid Cemetery in Florid and at 11:30 a.m. at the

Riverside Cemetery in Hennepin.

LAMOILLE —Harold E. Russell Post 938, American Legion, Ladd, will host Memorial Day services at 10 a.m. May 26 at the Greenfield Cemetery.

The guest speaker will be Don Elmore. Pastor Gerald Graham of the First Baptist Church will give the prayer and benediction.

LADD — Harold E. Russell Post 938, American Legion, Ladd, will host Memorial Day Services on May 26 at the following times: 8:15 a.m. — Berean Cemetery; 11:45 a.m.

— Ladd Cemetery, Ladd; and 12:15 p.m. — War Memorial Park, Ladd.

MAGNOLIA — The McNabb and Magnolia American Legion Posts will hold Memorial Day services at 7:30 a.m. May 26 at Caledonia Cemetery At 9:15 a.m., the Posts will lead services at the Magnolia Cemetery with coffee and doughnuts to follow at the fire station.

There will be services at Roberts Cemetery at 10:15 a.m., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery 2 at 10:25 a.m. and at First Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery 1 at 10:40 a.m.

NEPONSET —Neponset American Legion Post 875 will hold its annual Memorial Day Program at 11 a.m. May 26 in the

Neponset Community Building.

This year’s guest speaker is Capt. George Farley from Geneseo. He is an Army Judge Advocate for the U.S. Army Material Command, Redstone, Ala. Farley, an Indianapolis native, enlisted as a private in the U.S. Army Field Artillery in 1989.

After completing his initial active duty enlistment, he affiliated with the Indiana National Guard where he continued his military career advancing to the rant of first sergeant.

In 2006, he took his commission as first lieutenant in the U.S. Army JAG Corps., serving as a judge advocate at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he deployed with the first of the 25th Styker Brigade Combat Team to Diyala Province, Iraq.

After returning to Alaska, Farley was reassigned to the Rock Island Arsenal with the Army Sustainment Command for three years. He is on his last assignment at Redstone Arsenal where he is expected to retire after serving the country for the last 25 years.

The American Legion will present the colors, and Neponset Grade School student Celeste Martinez will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Eileen Gunning will be the accompanist to the National Anthem. Pastor Andrew Hopp of Neponset United Methodist Church will give the invocation.

The Lincoln Gettysburg Address will be read by Neponset Grade School student Lorainne Tremblay and Tom Blake will read the Roster of Graves listing Neponset area veterans dating back to the War of 1812.

Audio and music will be provided by Gregg Gunning of Neponset.

After the program, Post 875 will present military ceremonies to honor veterans buried at both Floral Hill and West cemeteries,

then will conclude with taps.

Several days before Memorial Day, Jon Pickering will coordinate setting the Avenue of Flags to honor some 160 veterans buried there. Wendell Yepsen will coordinate the setting of small flags at grave marker of all veterans in Floral Hill and West cemeteries. Flags will also line Scott Park and downtown Commercial Street.

The Neponset American Legion Post 875 is asking residents to fly the American flag on Memorial Day to express appreciation to all veterans and current members of the U.S. Armed Forces NEW BEDFORD — The New Bedford Royal Neighbors of America will conduct its annual Memorial Day services at 2 p.m.

June 1 at the Union Cemetery in New Bedford.

OHIO — A Memorial Day service will be held at 10 a.m. May 26 at the Ohio school gymnasium.

The Rev. Gene Vincent of Ohio Lutheran Church will give the address. After the service, participants will walk to Union Cemetery to distribute flowers on veterans’ graves followed by a prayer and the playing of taps. A similar ceremony will then take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery north of Ohio.

The Immaculate Conception Church in Ohio will hold an 8 a.m. Mass followed by a rosary at St. Mary’s Cemetery on May 26.

PRINCETON — American Legion Post 125 of Princeton, AMVETS Post 180, VFW Post 4323, American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125 and the Princeton DAR will perform Memorial Day honors beginning at Oakland Cemetery on Park Avenue West at 8 a.m.

From there, the group will go to Elm Lawn Memorial Park for services there at 8:30 a.m., then on to Dover Prairie Repose on Route 34 and then to the Malden City

Cemetery.

After the graveside services, the group will line up at 10 a.m. at Marquette and North Main streets in Princeton for the parade.

Memorial Day ceremonies will begin at Soldiers and Sailors Park after the parade with retired Sgt. Wayne Sapp as guest speaker. Sapp served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 with the Air Mobile Infantry. Legion Post Commander Terry A. DeSalle will be the master of ceremonies. All times are approximate.

After the ceremonies at Soldiers and Sailors Park, the public is invited to return to the Legion Hall at 1549 W. Peru St., for light refreshments provided by the General Federated Woman’s Club ladies.

SEATONVILLE — Harold E. Russell Post 938, American Legion, Ladd, will host Memorial Day Services at 7:45 a.m. May 26 at Ray Barto Memorial Park.

SHEFFIELD —Memorial Day services will be held at 10 a.m. May 26 at Veteran’s School Park.

SPRING VALLEY — The American Legion will hold Memorial Day services at 2 p.m. May 26 at Valley Memorial Park, 13312 Illinois Highway 89, Spring Valley.

TAMPICO — Tampico American Legion Post 574 will conduct Memorial Day services at 10 a.m. May 26 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A salute and tapes will be performed.

Then they will proceed to the Tampico Memorial Cemetery for a salute and taps.

TISKILWA — The Tiskilwa Historical Society and Tiskilwa American Legion will hold Memorial Day services at 10 a.m.

May 26 in East Park.

VAN ORIN —Memorial Day Services will be held at 10 a.m. May 26 at the Bache Chapel in Van Orin.

Boy Scout Troop 1055 will post the colors. There will be music and a speaker.

Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall after the service.

VARNA — The McNabb and Magnolia American Legion Posts will be conducting Memorial Day services at 10:45 a.m. May 26 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Varna, followed at 11 a.m. by services at the War Memorial at the grade school.

WALNUT — Memorial Day services will be held at 11 a.m. May 26 at the Walnut Cemetery. The Walnut American Legion Post 179 is in charge of the program, and Gary McMullen will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

The Walnut Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will give the Pledge of Allegiance.

Father Thomas Shaw and St. John’s Catholic Church will give the invocation.

Acting Walnut Mayor Dennis Grobe will give the welcome. Jerry Fairbanks will give the memorial address and Josh Monier will present the Gettysburg Address. Ellen Johnson will say the soldier’s prayer.

Legion membership awards will be presented to Johnnie Fritz for 50 years of service and Neil Stiver Jr. and Albert Jacobs for 60 years of services.

Music will be presented

by Derek Grant of Durant, Iowa, and the Bureau Valley North Band.

The ceremony will be held rain or shine. The Legion Color Guard and the scouts will march from downtown, through the Avenue of Flags at 10:30 a.m.

WYANET — The Wyanet Memorial Day parade will start at 10 a.m. May 26 from the United Methodist Church. Services will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery and conducted by VFW Post 6634 and Auxiliary. The Wyanet Historical Society will sponsor an ice cream and sandwich social after the services at the Wyanet Memorial Park.

The Downtown Rock Island Arts and Entertainment District presents Gumbo Ya Ya, a two night Mardi Gras party in The District on Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7. Cajun, Zydeco and Jazz bands will perform throughout the event while Cajun spiced food will be served. Bead tosses, confetti and a French Quarter marketplace also add to the affair.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Reddick Mansion Association will hold a dedication of its pergola at 6 p.m. Friday, May 23. The pergola will be dedicated to Eleanor McClevey. After the dedication and thank your, there will be music in the gardens of the nation and refreshments will be served.

The Friends of the Putnam County Education Foundation is hosting a Hawaiian luau at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at Celebrations 150, 740 E. U.S. Highway 6, Utica. A cash bar opens at 5 p.m. with a pig dinner at 6 p.m. Dessert will also be served.

The Hennepin Library will hold a Rangoli art workshop at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 28. Rangoli is a folk art style from India, created using natural materials such as colored rice, flower petals, sand and colored flowers.

The Democratic Party will host its inaugural JFK Dinner, in honor of President John F. Kennedy, at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at the Deer Valley Country Club in Deer Grove. The Bureau, LaSalle and MarshallPutnam 4-H will host its second annual Summer Sizzle Shoot in partnership with the Chillicothe Sportsmen’s Club on Saturday, June 7. The event will include air rifle, archery, shotgun and .22-caliber rifle.

Coffeehouse presents Feldmann Blues guitarist Tom Feldmann will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Princeton Coffeehouse at Open Prairie, UCC, 25 E. Marion St., Princeton. The cost is $12 at the door. There will be homemade desserts and fair trade coffee available.

Walnut’s Sunset Ridge MX will host the fourth round of the 2014 season of the Mtn. Dew ATV Motorcross National Championship with the AMSOIL ATV Showdown on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1. Hundreds of riders from across the country will converge on the facility for two days of professional and amateur competition. Events begin at 11 a.m. May 31 and at 9 a.m. June 1. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids on May 31 and $15 for adults and $10 for kids on June 1.

A vendor and craft show will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Main Street Pavilion in Wenona to support St. Jude. The annual Illinois Free Fishing Days will be from Friday, June 6, to Sunday, June 9. During this four-day celebration of fishing in Illinois, anglers can fish without purchasing a fishing license, salmon stamp or inland trout stamp.

Keith O’Neil will talk at the Living Works Suicide Walk on Saturday, June 7, in Princeton. He is a former NFL football player who played for the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and New York Giants.

O’Neil During his professional career, he served as team captain and was a member of the Colts Super Bowl XLI Championship team.

He is currently writing a book and speaking to audiences in the sports, faith and mental health communities. He is also the president and founder of the 4th and Forever Foundation which brings awareness to mental health and funds research for mental illness.

The First United Church of Christ in Sheffield will host its monthly community coffee from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, in the UCC Parish Hall. Freshbaked cinnamon rolls will be served.

The Neponset High School Alumni Association will hold its annual banquet at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Flemish American Club, 313 N. Burr Blvd., Kewanee. Cocktails will be available at 6 p.m. Graduates from the classes of 1939, 1944, 1954, 1964, 1974, 1984, 1989 and 1994 will be honored.

There will be a variety of garden and craft vendors and a plant sale with reasonably priced perennials, annuals, herbs and vegetables. The Garden Walk includes a selfguided tour of private gardens.

Stage 212 announces ‘Rent’ casting call LASALLE — Director Daniel Haun has announced auditions for Stage 212’s special production of “Rent,” the edgy Tony Award-winning musical by Jonathan Larson, will be at 6:30 p.m. May 28 and 29 at the theater, 700 First St., LaSalle. Call backs will be at 1 p.m. June 1.

Haun will be casting eight principals, plus four to eight ensemble members. All auditioners must be at least 18 years old.

Auditioners should come prepared with a

one-minute song from a pop/rock musical, excluding “Rent,” which showcases their range and voice, and they should wear comfortable clothes that show off their personality.

There will not be a dance audition, so there is no need to wear movement clothes.

Downtown Sound returns to Millennium Park CHICAGO — Downtown Sound, Millennium Park’s popular Monday night music series, makes its return beginning on June 2 at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion.

The series will continue on consecutive Monday evenings from June 2 to Aug. 11. There will be no concert on July 28. The series offers an eclectic mix of indie rock music and pop. Highlights of the series for 2014 include Omar Souleyman, Richard Thompson and Robbie Fulks.

This year, the city of Chicago will mark Millennium Park’s 10th Anniversary from May 26 to Sept. 1.

Join the city for a summerlong celebration featuring Downtown Sound, Loops and Variations and Made in Chicago music series, film series, workouts and much more.

At 6:30 p.m. June 2, Robbie Fulks, Chicago’s prodigiously talented singer, songwriter and guitarist, with the soul of a country singer and the mind of a vaudevillian will headline the evening’s entertainment. Opening for Fulks is Steve Dawson, leader of Chicago folk-rock group Dolly Varden, has joined forces with some of the city’s most revered improvising musicians to form a new band called Funeral Bonsai Wedding.

At 6:30 p.m. June 9, Omar Souleyman will headline the evening. Hailing from Syria, Souleyman not only changed the vibe of weddings throughout the Middle East with his Shaabi street sound, but also brought it to the West through his notorious late night festival slots. Natural Information Society will open the show.

Natural Information Society is the genre-defying project of Chicago bassist Joshua

Abrams. In performance the music revolves around the sound of the guimbri (a Gnawan lute), integrating composition and improvisation to create hypnotic, highly rhythmic and sustained psychedelic environments.

Richard Thompson and his Electric Trio will perform at 6:30 p.m. June 16. Named

by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the Top 20 Guitarists of All Time, Thompson is also one of the world’s most critically acclaimed and prolific songwriters. Having cofounded the groundbreaking group Fairport Convention as a teenager in the 1960s, Thompson and his mates virtually invented British Folk Rock. His last solo album “Electric,” was produced by studio extraordinaire Buddy Miller and released by New West records in February 2013.

For his Millennium Park debut Thompson will play a solo acoustic set followed by a full electric set with his trio.

The 1998 film “Rushmore” will be shown after the show as part of Chicago Bike Week presented by the Goose Island Beer Co. at 8:30 p.m.

PRINCETON — Learning Stage, the education committee of Princeton Theatre Group, has announced two summer programs which together will provide youth from grades K-12 the opportunity to experience and participate in live performances, while immersing themselves in the many aspects of bringing a show into production.

Both programs are being mounted in cooperation with Festival 56, which this summer marks its 11th season of bringing outstanding professional theater to local audiences.

Camp 56, to be held weekdays from June 23 through July 3, returns to mark its fourth consecutive year of providing a theater-based day camp for young people of primary and middle school age. Once again, camp director Lisa Gadomski will engage campers in a series of fun-filled activities including song, dance, make-up, costuming and visits to and with Festival sets, cast and crew. The culmination of their camping experience will be their

on-stage appearances in the Festival’s production of “Oliver!”

The cost to enroll is $100 per camper. Financial assistance may be available to those who demonstrate financial need.

Theatre Boot Camp is the re-introduction, after several years’ absence, of a program for highschool aged students with an interest in the dramatic arts. Running for six days beginning July 7, under the direction of Festival 56 co-founder Laura Brigham, the program will combine an opportunity for campers to hone their own performance skills while expanding their understanding of the dramatic arts through exposure to a variety of theatre professionals. The participants will attend three Festival 56 productions, appear in a Festival cabaret and stage their own showcase performance on the final day of camp.

The $250 fee includes theater tickets, daily lunches, Friday night dinner and a chaperoned overnight stay at the conclusion of the caba-

ret. A limited number of partial scholarships are available to those who demonstrate financial need. Registration material may be accessed onlined at www.festival56. com.

Dora and Diego share adventure at the Bettendorf Family Museum Nickelodeon shows’ exhibit opens May 24 BETTENDORF, Iowa — The Family Museum will host its new children’s exhibit, Dora and Diego — Let’s Explore!, from May 24 to Sept. 14.

The exhibit features Dora and Diego from Nickelodeon’s preschool series “Dora the Explorer” and “Go, Diego, Go!” Also included in the exhibit are Boots, Map, Backpack, Isa, Tico and Swiper.

“Dora the Explorer” follows the adventures of the 7-year-old Latina heroine Dora and her friends in an imaginative, tropical world. “Go, Diego, Go!” stars Dora’s 8-year-old cousin Diego, a bilingual animal rescuer who protects animals and their environment. The exhibit gives children and their families the opportunity to go into the worlds of Dora and Diego to engage in problem-solving and active play. Stuffed Pork Chops 2 tablespoons chopped celery leaves 1 tablespoon chopped onion 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, divided 3/4 cup dry bread crumbs 2/3 cup chicken broth, divided 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon paprika 1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme 2 pork loin chops (1 1/4 inches thick) In a skillet, sauté celery leaves and onion in 1 tablespoon of butter until soft. Remove from the heat, stir in bread crumbs, 1/3 cup broth and the seasonings. Mix well. Cut a pocket in each pork chop by slicing from the fat side almost to the bone. Spoon about 1/2 cup stuffing into each pork chop. Secure with a toothpick. Melt remaining butter in a skillet. Brown the chops on both sides. Place in a greased 11-by-7-inch baking dish. Pour remaining broth over the chops. Cover and bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes or until juices run clear. Remove toothpicks before serving.

Thicken pan juices for gravy. Serves 2.

Gardens sought for 2014 garden walk PRINCETON — After this exceptionally long winter, many of us have been thinking of working in our gardens and flower beds. While you are making your plans for planting, you may want to consider having your garden on the 2014 Bureau County Garden Walk. The event will be July 12 (rain date July 13) and will feature several gardens in Princeton and in the surrounding communities.

Princeton Tourism and Bureau County Tourism are working together to put on this semi-annual event. To have your garden be one of the locations on the walk, call Joni Hunt, Princeton Tourism, at 815-875-2631 for a garden in Princeton or call Kathy Costerisan, Bureau County tourism coordinator, at 815-866-3606 (after 4 p.m.) for gardens in areas outside of Princeton. These can be vegetable gardens, flower gardens or even yards with ponds and waterfalls.

The Barn Quilts of Bureau County will have its kick-off that day. There have been several barn quilts hung on farm buildings around the county. As you travel around the county to visit the gardens, be sure to stop by these farms and see what the barn quilts are all about.

Barn quilts aren’t made of fabric, but are painted on boards that can be from 4-by-4-feet up to 8-by8-feet. Each will have a different quilt design painted on them which has significance to the family that lives there. A map with the locations will be available the day of the tour or you can see their locations on their Barn Quilts of Bureau County Facebook page. Although their kick-off is that day, the Barn Quilt tour is self-paced and you can go to see them at any time. More quilts will be hung during the year, so check back for more locations.

recounts her experience as a Titanic survivor. When the HMHS Britannic sank during World War I, few survivors emerged with a toothbrush. Violet Jessop, however, had hers, remembering what she had missed after the sinking of the RMS Titanic, the Britannic’s identical sister ship, in 1912. The only verified person to have survived both sinkings, Jessop tells unforgettable stories of the terrifying disasters and gives a fascinating glimpse at the passengers and activities on the most glamorous luxury liners of their day. Presented in first-person, this program introduces audiences to Violet Jessop and explores her life and times. The program starts at 5:30 p.m.

Sunset Ridge will host fourth annual walks WALNUT — On May 30 and June 20, Sunset Ridge MX Park in Walnut will host its fourth annual Susan G. Komen Track Walks for Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser. The events, which raised more than $8,000 last year for the Quad Cities and Memorial Affiliates of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation, are expected to attract between 200 and 300 participants each. National race teams riding at Sunset Ridge also contribute to the fundraiser.

Jan Pistole, co-owner of Sunset Ridge MX, says the events attract local walkers, as well as family members and friends of ATV and MX racers who will be at the track on those days cheering on riders who are participating in the ATV National Practice and Loretta Lynn Regional Qualifier practice sessions.

“We are fortunate to have wonderful participation from people from across the country who enjoy a chance to get out and walk the 1.8 mile motocross track at the end of a long day of supporting their friends who are practicing for national races. Since every dollar raised goes to support our local affiliates, we also look forward to welcoming local citizens who support the efforts of this very important organization,” Pistole said.

The walks will begin at 5 p.m. on May 30 and on June 20, at the conclusion of the practice sessions for each race event. Pre-registration is available prior to May 19 for the first event or June 9 for the second event, online at www.sunsetridgemx.com or at the

Sunset Ridge MX in Walnut will host the Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, the world’s longest-running and most prestigious ATV racing series, on May 31 and June 1.

Dew it up right Sunset Ridge to host the Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National WALNUT – The Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, the world’s longest-running and most prestigious ATV racing series, will visit Sunset Ridge MX in Walnut on May 31 and June 1.

The 2014 season marks the 30th year of this unique championship, which will visit some of the most well-known motocross tracks in the country over the course of a nine-round schedule that will ultimately crown a national champion.

Walnut’s Sunset Ridge MX, will host the fourth round of the 2014 season with the AMSOIL ATV Showdown. Hundreds of riders from across the country will converge on the facility for two days of rugged competition for both professionals and amateurs alike.

Sunset Ridge MX is a wide-open track.

With man-made jumps and sweeping turns, it offers lots of room to move around. Wide bowl turns can be found here, which lend themselves to high speeds, while the soil is sandy and can rob riders of dearly needed horsepower.

This is more of a technical track that favors very skilled riders.

This northeastern Bureau County facility is a real racers’ favorite, and it offers excellent views of the action for the fans.

Sunset Ridge also serves as the home track for defending ATVMX Champion Chad Wienen, and his fan base will be sure to turn out in great numbers and make plenty of noise for their Illinois favorite.

PCA 5K Run/Walk PRINCETON — Princeton Christian Academy will host its inaugural 5K Eagle Run/Walk at 8 a.m. June 14, starting and finishing at Zearing Park in Princeton.

The purpose of the race is to raise needed funds for the school to purchase new bleachers for the PCA gymnasium. The race is open to people of all ages who will compete in several different age categories for medals. Those who prefer to walk are encouraged to participate in a non-competitive way.

This is a family friendly event for all ages. Little ones who cannot run/walk a 5K distance can ride along in a stroller for free.

Several food vendors, a band and other exhibits will be set up at Zearing Park for the convenience and entertainment of the participants and supporters of the race.

Those interested in running or walking in the Eagle 5K may register online at eaglerun5k.net or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/eaglerun5k. Prizes will be awarded for best times in each category and for overall winners; everyone who registers will get a T-shirt.

Local participants who come out May 30 for the Walk will receive a halfprice coupon to return for the racing on May 31.

The world’s best ATV proriders will be converging at Sunset Ridge for the annual ATV Showdown that weekend.

“We are looking forward to challenging ourselves and everyone involved to go beyond our contribution in 2013.

We all know or will know someone who has been impacted by this devas-

tating disease, and the goal is to raise money to help researchers eradicate it for future generations,” Pistole said.

For those who are unable to walk the track but who wish to participate, Sunset Ridge will offer shuttle transportation across the 1.8 mile course. Onsite registration for those who wish to register the day of the event will begin at 2 p.m.
