Vol. 9 No. 38

With a spring in her step Spring is here, and so are spring sports for area children of all ages. Lydia Warren of the Putnam County Lady Panther track team shows off her winning long jump form at a recent track meet in LaSalle. Warren, as many others on area track teams, participates in multiple events on the team to help raise their team scores. This time of year area high school students are busy running track, hitting baseballs or softballs and fishing in Illinois High School Association (IHSA) level competition. Around Bureau and Putnam counties, younger students are forming area T-ball and older baseball and softball teams for spring. Volunteers are needed to help coach and be assistant coaches for these town-wide teams. These seasons will run from April to July for some of the participants each year.
