Dream interpretation Open Prairie to gather and discuss the legacy of MLK By Dave Cook dcook@bcrnews.com
PRINCETON — The Open Prairie United Church of Christ will be hosting its third annual Martin Luther King Day celebration at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18. Pictured are organizers of the event, who are at the Princeton Public Library looking over materials about Dr. Martin Luther King. The last two have been at the Prouty Building, but this year’s event will be at the church located at 25 E. Marion St. in Princeton. The format this year will differ from previous years with attendees gathering in a round-table format. There will also be a youth round table for junior high and high school students who would like to share their thoughts on Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream of peace, as well as a children’s table with activities. Hosting the event at the Open Prairie Church will allow this gathering to be more interactive and flexible than previous MLK Day events. There will be presentations of videos and speeches featuring King, as well as thoughtful discussions. The event was also scheduled later in the day than previous years, so people who may not have otherwise been able to attend can do so.
