Newton High School All Alumni Reunion All Class Open House
Friday, June 6 | 6 p.m. | Iowa Speedway Newton Club | 3333 Rusty Wallace Drive More than 1,000 alumni, spouses and friends from every year turn out for the annual all class event to reconnect with friends near and far. Many classes will have tables for class members to gather.
All Class Brunch + Hall of Fame Ceremony
Saturday, June 7 | 10 a.m. + 10:30 a.m. | Newton Senior High School | 800 E. Fourth St. S. Visit the school for an all class lunch and the first annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Current and past teachers will be in attendance as well as many class representatives. Tours of the high school will be offered. Newton High School Hall of Fame Alumni who have displayed excellence in their given field are now honored and inducted By Jocelyn Sheets and Mark Hallam Newton Daily News and NHS Alumni Association Newton Senior High School graduates have been, and continue to, make great strides in all walks of life. There’s always been the pride in recognizing NHS alumni. Now, there is an official NHS Hall of Fame. The initial NHS Hall of Fame class will be inducted during Reunion Weekend at the AllClasses Brunch on June 7 at Newton Senior High School. “We’re excited to be starting the Newton High School Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame Committee represents many decades of alumni and community members with different backgrounds, which will become very important when evaluating nominees within the nine categories,” NHS Principal Bill Peters said. Newton alumni who have distinguished themselves in the fields of athletics, arts (including authors, musicians, visual artists, and journalists), business, education (at any level), government, science, or service (non-profit or religious) are eligible for nomination. Additional categories for consideration are retired staff from the Newton Community School District and any individual or organization that has made outstanding contributions to the success of Newton High School. “It’s great that we’ll be inducting honorees on an annual basis — considering the number of distinguished Cardinals to choose from,” Peters said. “For me, being a Cardinal has always been a work HALL OF FAME See Page 7
