The client wanted the space to be used as a Second Home which would be visited less frequently as they stay abroad.

The project is currently on the Civil Stage.

I was included for this project from the first phase itself and so got a chance to plan out the entire two floors from the very scratch.

There were some basic planning pointers that I had learnt by now which I had a chance to apply on this.

I learnt a lot about the standards of furniture, their placement, space planning, how much area to allocate for a specific function, etc.

I started off desiging for the room by slecting the painting and choosing a colour scheme based on that.

While desiging this I had to make sure that the standard amount of spaces are left and the space is functionaly sound.

The major challenge I faced was connecting this room to the theme for the entire home.

LEARNING OUTCOMES With a refrence for the backdrop, I had to make a design for the backdrop of Pooja area. The whole thing was then also put on in 3D for client approval.

Plumbing drawings were made to show the plumbing as well give the idea of slope.

The plumbing was to be made only for the toilets as the rest of it was to be kept as it is.

The drawings were to be given at the initial stage for on site execution.

For the toilet elevations, the heights for the fixtures were standard and only changed based on selection.

The drawing included tiling pattern, tile selection, area for tiling, fixtures placement and slope.

LEARNING OUTCOMES -

This was the most difficult drawing as we had to do a lot of back and forth and there were a lot of revisions one after the other.

I learnt a lot in this drawing as it was something I had never done before.

The brief given was to do floor layout in a very simple way but also incorporate same granite with a different finish at some spaces.

I went for scattered pattern on flooring as the residue won’t be seen easily and it would look as if they are part of the pattern.

The tricky part for this was the sq.ft area calculation as the levels were changing.

I had to first understand about the types of lights and their functions.

I also got a lot of learning about the amount of lighting required for a certain space.

Designing ceiling was a tedious process as it kept on changing every time a site visit would take place.

Existing trap doors at the site also proved as an obstacle for design.

CHALLENGES FROM THE SITE

This was a drawing made to understand the exact light to be fixed with respect to its placement at the site.

Light selection was done and accordingly the cut sheet is made.

Electrical layout was a bit tough at first as it was so confusing and it had to done very carefully.

This project used Automation for the switchboards and thus the symbols.

Dimension Layout gave an insight at what were the distances at which that particular light or switchboard is going to be placed.

This was the project that we used automation system for the switchboards.

Control Panel was to give the exact information of the switchboards.

For drawings like these two types are sent out, one detail drawing and also the CAD drawing for CNC cutting.

I learnt about challenges faced on site as this has already been started on site.

We had to go lot of back and forth with the design and the spacing of the grooves.

A sample was also made as to how the groove would look on the rods.

I was able to see the final result on the site as well understand the detail from the agency at site.

This drawing had a lot of revisions done when discussed with the carpenter and fabricator.

I also had a chance to see the final product at the site.

The elevation drawing was done along with the individual furniture details to get a better understanding of their placement.

The little details which often gets missed out in furniture detail are caught while doing the elevations.

For a big scale project such as this, the furniture pieces were to be made at a different place and then put together here.

For that furniture dimension layout was to be made to get quotation from different vendors.

As the furniture was to made at a different place, the piece needed to be divided into modules which could be then attached together.

Here I learnt about how the modules should be divided to make the work easier.

Nature Walks were done to know more about plants and its properties.

The materials of Material Library were to be organized by labelling them. The Excel Sheet was also prepared by me for easier and better access.
