WHAT IS THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM? The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors located in the brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems,consisting of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors. There are two main types of receptors, CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are primarily located in the central nervous system and brains of mammals, and CB2 are generally found in the peripheral nervous system. Hemp Farming
As part of our vertical integration strategy, GIH Life Sciences and our farming partner, Midwest Farms, develop and grow several proprietary genetics in and around the southern most regions of Minnesota USA. Why Minnesota? Well, because Minnesota provides some of the country’s best farmlands, perfectly harmonious with hemp growth and cultivation. The soil conditions in Minnesota are better than any other state in the United States because of what the farming industry calls “Black Soil”. Black soil is the natural layer of compostable soil that encourages germination and growth of healthy plants. While most of the United States farming zones average 1/2” - 1”, Minnesota averages from 6 feet to 8 feet deep.
State of the Art Extraction
GIH Life Sciences uses a Cryogenic Ethanol Mechanical Extractor as our primary biomass conversion methodology. Because we run our ethanol at -50°F and then pass it through a 52-plate filter press and a two 5 micron bag filters, our oil is unsurpassed in its cleanliness and clarity leading into our distillation equipment. This gives us an efficiency advantage downstream. We then use High Production Wipe Film Extraction (WFE) and Centrifugal Molecular Distillation (CMD) systems to achieve world class production capacity of bioceutical oils without thermal degradation. The final step of remediation is preparative HPLC ( High performance Liquid Chromatography) this allows us to get down to non-detectable THC while collecting the other minor cannabinoids. We then add back our terpene cuts before formulation lab takes custody of our oil with a full BMR report (batch manufacturing report) From soil to oil we track our entire process. Completed and certified in the State of Minnesota, our extraction facility is now USDA Organic Certified. A thorough review and assessment of our processes and methodologies in Hemp extraction has been certified Organic by a third-party auditing body. This certification allows our extraction processes and technology to manufacture the highest quality of hemp extract oils whether it is broad spectrum or isolate. This trusted certificate ensures consumers and brand managers that their products are made with the highest quality oils that truly provides the best benefits. The most well-known and most prevalent cannabinoid in the cannabis plant, THC is only found in small levels in the Hemp plant. At these extremely low amounts, the psychoactive properties are effectively neutralized all together, but THC still has an importance in assisting the other cannabinoids at binding to receptors
Found in High concentration in the Hemp plant, GBG is used for its anti-inflammatory properties but acts as a powerful neuroprotectant. CBG can also act as an effective antibacterial agent against resistant bacterial strains on skin

Primary terpenes in hemp Myrcene
Myrcene produces earthy or musky notes, similar to cloves. Myrcene helps to reduce inflammation.
Limonene
This is the second most abundant terpene in cannabis, and it produces a citrusy aroma. It is also found in high amounts in the rind of citrus fruits such as oranges and tangerines. Limonene is a mood- enhancer. You will find it being used in aromatherapy to enhance the mood, and also has antifungal and antibacterial properties.
Linalool
Linalool is responsible for the floral notes in cannabis. It is also common in lavender and aromatic herbs. It produces relaxation and induces sleep.
Caryophyllene
It has a strong spicy aroma and is also common in black pepper, cinnamon, and spices such as oregano, basil, and rosemary. It is the only terpene that binds to CB2 receptors. It is commonly used in topical creams as an anti-inflammatory agent.
Alpha-pinene and Beta-pinene
Pinene terpenes have the aroma of pine trees. They produce anti-inflammatory effects.
Humulene
Humulene is a primary terpene that is common in hops. It gives off an earthy aroma with spicy notes. Humulene is also found in sage, cloves, and black pepper. It has appetite- suppressing properties. It also helps to combat inflammation.
Eucalyptol
This terpene is also known as cineol and it is produces minty notes similar to what is produced by eucalyptus trees. It has antibacterial and antifungal benefits.
