Minister Nathaniel “Bug” Douglas, Jr. was born to Nathaniel and Mary Douglas, Sr. on April 14, 1982, in Memphis, TN. He professed his hope in Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Gilliam Baptist Church under the leadership ofthe late Rev. J.D. Jamerson, where he served as a faithful choir member.

Nathaniel graduated as Salutatorian from Word of Faith Christian Academy in 2000. He was awarded a full scholarship in music and education to Clark Atlanta University (CAU), where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 2004. A gifted musician, he served as a lead singer for the CAU choir, helping them win their first choir competition, and was also a member of the Memphis-based gospel choir,Andrew Knox & Nu Change (AKNC).

A lifelong educator for over 25 years, Nathaniel had a deep passion for teaching. For the past several years, he served as an elementary school teacher at Living Word Victory Christian Academy in Clarksville, TN. He is remembered by countless students and colleagues as a caring influence who dedicated his life to educating the next generation.

Nathaniel was an ordained minister who accepted his calling under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Brodie I. Johnson at Cornerstone Institutional Baptist Church. Upon his move to Nashville, TN several years ago, he joined New Restoration Community Church under the pastorshipof Rev. Dr. Tanya Buford,where he remained a devoted minister and member until his passing.

Nathaniel was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, David Walker, Jr., and Lorine Douglas; his maternal grandparents, Lewis and Bobbie Luellen; and his cousin, Kenneth Wayne Luellen.

On Thursday, April 9, 2026, Nathaniel made his heavenly transition at Vanderbilt Hospital in Clarksville, TN, surrounded by his immediate family. He leaves to cherish his memories, his spouse, Steven Douglas;his parents, Nathaniel and Mary Douglas, Sr.; his brother, Christopher Douglas; his niece, Miyah Douglas; his nephew, Nash Douglas; and his stepgrandmother, Roberta Walker; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
