2025 Year In Review

Mission Statement We are servants who provide care and assistance to those in need and act as advocates for systemic change.

Message from the CEO This year, we continued to meet rising needs across Orange County with compassion, urgency, and innovation. Families are navigating higher living costs, housing instability, and barriers to care. For many, Share Ourselves remains the first and only place they can turn.

Christy Ward Chief Executive Officer

We remain dedicated to providing integrated medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and social services under one coordinated model of care — addressing the whole person, not just symptoms. This work is only possible because of our team members, board

members, volunteers, donors, and community partners who stand with us. Together, we ensure that care remains accessible and that no one is turned away due to inability to pay. As we progress through 2026, we aim to enhance our services, add optometry, and expand our clinical presence through more advanced care.

The need is growing. So is our commitment.

Message from the Board Chair Share Ourselves was founded on the simple belief that community members should care for one another. That belief continues to guide every decision we make.

Will Klatte Board Chair

This year demonstrated the strength of our partnerships — with hospital systems, school districts, corporate sponsors, volunteers, and donors. Through collaborations with organizations like Calvary Chapel and the Girl Scouts for snack packs and food drives, as well as organizations including AAA, Pacific Life, and Applied Medical for donations and volunteering, we expanded access points, strengthened services, and reached families earlier in times of crisis.

Whether it’s a food pantry volunteer who comes once a week to pack food bags, or a onetime volunteer helping assemble backpacks for students in need, every act makes a meaningful impact. We are grateful to every supporter who makes this work possible. Your investment is not just in programs — it is in people.

New Costa Mesa Clinic Expands Our Care In 2025, Share Ourselves proudly opened a new state-of-the-art clinic at 1650 Adams Avenue in Costa Mesa, expanding access to high-quality, integrated care for Orange County families. More than a new building, the Adams Avenue clinic represents a major step forward in our mission to ensure care is accessible to all — especially those who are uninsured, underinsured, or facing barriers to care. By bringing medical, dental, vision, behavioral health, pharmacy, and social support together under one roof, we have strengthened the safety net for our community and increased our

capacity to serve more patients with dignity and compassion. The opening of this clinic was made possible through strong community partnerships and years of planning, collaboration, and commitment.

Pharmacy & Training Program

Our pharmacy team ensures patients can access medications safely and affordably while supporting integrated care under the same roof where patients receive medical services.

In partnership with residency programs and clinical training institutions, we help develop the next generation of healthcare providers while expanding patient access.

Clinical Profile: Dr. Rocio Bender Dr. Bender serves as Clinical Pharmacy Manager at Share Ourselves’ retail pharmacy program, where she leads a highly integrated, community-based model of care focused on expanding access to affordable medications and comprehensive pharmacy services.

She first joined Share Ourselves as a volunteer while attending UC Irvine before earning her PharmD from the University of Southern California and returning to Share Ourselves as a clinical staff pharmacist in 2016. In 2022, she assumed leadership of the pharmacy program. Her clinical practice focuses on chronic disease management, particularly diabetes and hypertension, with an emphasis on medication therapy optimization, lab-guided assessment, and patient education. A defining feature of her leadership is the integration of pharmacy into the broader care continuum. The program provides medication reconciliation,

clinical follow-up, and real-time education at the point of care — helping reinforce treatment goals, improve medication adherence, and reduce avoidable hospitalizations. Dr. Bender also oversees systems that improve medication access for uninsured and underinsured patients, including participation in the 340B Drug Pricing Program. Equally central to her role is education and workforce development. The pharmacy serves as a training site for fourth-year pharmacy students and residents gaining hands-on experience in ambulatory care, medication management, and patient counseling.

I feel like we play a pretty big role in the community. We’re able to provide those answers for them, reassure them, and let them know there’s things they can do to get better. -Dr. Bender

Community Programs

Where Community Becomes Family For more than 56 years, volunteers have been the heartbeat of Share Ourselves. What began around a dining room table — founded by Jean Forbath serving migrant workers — has grown into one of Orange County’s most meaningful traditions: Adopt A Family.

Molly & Judith Read the full story online

Judith has supported the program for more than 35 years, first as a donor and later as a volunteer leader. Molly joined through the food pantry in 2012 and now serves alongside Judith as co-chair of the Adopt A Family Program. When Share Ourselves sought to return the program to its volunteer-led roots, they stepped forward to help lead the effort.

It’s like family. Even if we don’t see each other all year, we come back together for something truly worthwhile. -Judith

Supporter Profile: Pam Blom Pam Blom is a longtime Share Ourselves volunteer and donor whose involvement is rooted in her weekly service in the food pantry and commitment to supporting individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Through her experience volunteering in the pantry, Pam has developed a deeper understanding of the challenges many community members face as costs continue to rise. “There are a lot of people who are working as hard as they can and, especially right now with the cost of everything, can’t make ends meet.” Pam emphasizes the importance of meeting basic needs to support overall well-being. Health is more than just medical, dental, and vision. It’s whether they

are eating, do they feel safe, do they have a safe place to go home and go to sleep at night. It’s all related. For Pam, volunteering strengthened her commitment to supporting the organization financially. “If I weren’t a volunteer, I probably wouldn’t have donated because I wouldn’t have known it.”

There’s a lot of camaraderie among the volunteers. -Pam Blom

Donor Profile: Edwards Lifesciences Investing in Whole-Person Care Across Orange County For Edwards Lifesciences, community impact is about more than philanthropy — it is about investing in organizations that expand access to care and strengthen the health of underserved communities. “Orange County is known as being a more affluent location,” said Stefaan Poortman, Senior Director of Global Corporate Giving Strategy & Programs at Edwards Lifesciences. “But we know there are many residents living at or below the poverty line or receiving health assistance.” Through the Edwards Lifesciences Foundation, the company supports initiatives focused on health access, education, and economic opportunity. “Share Ourselves plays a critical role in addressing these needs by providing

accessible, integrated health and social services to those who might otherwise go without care,” the Edwards Lifesciences team shared. Their commitment to prevention and access to care is reflected in initiatives including Every Heartbeat Matters and Stay in the Race. “Heart disease is the number one killer in women,” said Kaitlin Corell, Manager, Global Corporate Giving at Edwards Lifesciences. “One in four women will die of heart disease.”
