VOLUNTEERISM REPORT 2024
Volunteers are the foundation of incredible nonprofit community work happening every day in our region. Passionate volunteers give of their hearts and expertise to share a skill, package food, mentor, foster animals, serve on nonprofit boards of directors and more. Every volunteer contributes in invaluable ways toward shaping the community we all want to live in.
SHARE Omaha’s online platform connects people aged 5 to 105 with ways to share their time and talent. In 2024, over 2,400 connections were made for the benefit of nonprofits in Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington Counties in Nebraska.
THE VALUE OF VOLUNTEERS
An hour of volunteer time is valued at $33.49 by The Independent Sector.
THE NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer roles were posted to SHAREomaha.org by 160 nonprofit organizations in 2024.
A local nonprofit survey revealed that approximately half of the volunteer needs in the Greater Omaha metro area are going unfilled each week.
