Circle de Luz radically empowers Latina girls in Charlotte through extensive mentoring, holistic programming, and scholarship funds for further education.

Circle de Luz is looking for 4 Class Captains to mentor the Class of 2030 starting this fall. Our Class Captains are a group of adult women who engage with a group of 8 Latina girls 2-4 times a month. They build deep
relationships with students and their families as they guide and support the cohort over the course of the 6 years that they are in the program (7th grade to 12th grade of school)

Volunteers for 2024 Summer Rock Camp - In one week Kids (8-12) and Teens (12-17) learn to play an instrument, form a band, write a song and then perform for their friends and family. If you are considering joining a nonprofit board, here are some resources and classes that can help you understand your role as a board member to get the most from your board service.
United Way of Greater Charlotte, Nonprofit Board Member Training - A Workshop Series for Leaders to Learn, Stimulate Conversation, and Fuel Change.
Joining a nonprofit board member training program is a valuable investment for both individuals and the organizations they serve, helping to strengthen governance, enhance effectiveness, and drive positive impact in the community.
United Way offers two Nonprofit Board Member Trainings:
• Nonprofit Board Service 101: The Foundations of Equitable Governance on May 16th
• Governance 201: Actions and Perspectives on Racial Equity and Nonprofit Board Service on June 5th
Women’s Impact Fund - A women’s leadership development program (hosted in the spring) with a focus on civic engagement including board service. While this program has concluded for this year, getting involved with Women’s Impact Fund as a member is a great way to learn about board service.
You can join a WIF board committee – whether in a field where you have experience or where you have none – as soon as you join as a member. WIF members go on to serve on a variety of other nonprofit boards throughout our region. Junior League of Charlotte, Leadership Development Institute - A workshop series that educates, inspires and connects Provisional, Transfer, Active and Sustainer JLC members, along with women in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area, through the study of six core leadership values.
While these have concluded for the year the The Leadership Development Institute monthly workshops are interactive and engaging, designed to further leadership potential in every participant.
