Powering Social Good In Charlotte

2026 Highlights
To SHARE Charlotte’s Nonprofit Partners, Funders, Community Partners and Supporters
2025 was a challenging year for the nonprofit sector to say the least. In Mecklenburg County alone, 520 nonprofits have depended on $522 million in federal funding (in 2022)— funding that has been cut, reduced or is now at risk.
These challenges extend well beyond federal sources. Funding shifts at the county and corporate levels have compounded uncertainty, placing additional strain on organizations across our community.
Yet in the face of these obstacles, nonprofits continued to lead with resilience and purpose. They showed up every day to support vulnerable families, youth, immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, veterans, animals, and our environment - ensuring critical services and care remained accessible when they were needed most.
I am deeply proud of the role SHARE Charlotte played in supporting our nonprofit community during this pivotal year. Together, we made meaningful progress, including:
• Launching a strategic partnership with The Robinson Center for Civic Leadership at Foundation For The Carolinas to strengthen nonprofit organizations, expand access to civic engagement, philanthropy, volunteering, and giving, and create new pathways for individuals, organizations, and institutions to collaborate in addressing our community’s most pressing challenges.
• Introducing Agility Together, in collaboration with Foundation For The Carolinas, United Way of Greater Charlotte, and The Lee Institute. This initiative is designed to build organizational resilience
and agility amid economic shifts and funding disruptions. Agility Together includes expert-led workshops, centralized nonprofit resources, and the Civic Impact Corps developed in partnership with the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council which connects skilled corporate volunteers with nonprofits to address critical institutional needs.
• Welcoming the Mecklenburg Executive Collaborative (MEC) as a program of SHARE Charlotte. Founded in 2016, MEC is a professional learning community for senior nonprofit executives leading mid-tolarge organizations. Its mission is to foster authentic partnerships, shared learning, and candid dialogue among nonprofit leaders, policymakers, and community stakeholders.
• Achieving a record-breaking year for engagement, with more than 213,000 visits to sharecharlotte.org and a 40% increase in volunteerism—demonstrating that Charlotteans are stepping up to support local nonprofits in powerful ways.
• Celebrating historic results on #GivingTuesdayCLT (December 2, 2025), with $9.8 million raised for local nonprofits in a single day—a 63% year-over-year increase.
As we look ahead, 2026 brings renewed opportunity and possibility. Together, we will continue strengthening the nonprofit sector so it can sustain and expand its vital work—supporting our community’s most vulnerable members and building a more resilient Charlotte for all.
Thank you for standing with us and with the nonprofits who make this community stronger every day.
