SHARE Charlotte is an online platform designed to make it easy to find and support local nonprofits through sharecharlotte.org. They have over

730 nonprofits on their site that serve Mecklenburg County!

If your teams are looking for group volunteer opportunities, you can contact, Melissa Hovey (melissa@ sharecharlotte.org) who can help you find a group volunteer opportunity or provide guidance if you are looking for a specific type of volunteer opportunity.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY

The American Cancer Society is the leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision of ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.

EVENTS: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Men Wear Pink Golf Tournament.

AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION

The American Heart Association works to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

We have exciting and meaningful volunteer opportunities ranging from roles around our core campaigns and being Ambassadors of our organization in the community.

AMERICAN RED CROSS

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that shelters, feeds, and provides comfort to victims of disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members, and their families.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

We have volunteer opportunities in disaster relief, disaster preparation, blood drive support, and service to the armed forces.

BOARD POSITIONS: We have both board and committee positions open. Committees include Biomed, Development/Engagement, DE&I, Mission, and Philanthropy Committees. We also need Community Volunteer Leaders who report directly to the Executive Director.

HEART MATH TUTORING

Heart Math Tutoring recruits and trains volunteers to be tutors for 1 hour per week to support elementary students who need foundational math skills and confidence building.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

We need volunteers to sign up to be weekly tutors during the 24-25 school year. Volunteers choose the school, day and time that works best for them and they work with the same student each week playing math games and building a relationship. Heart provides the fun, hands-on curriculum and on site support person at all times to ensure student and tutor success.

BOARD POSITIONS:

We are always looking for additional committee members and general board members, but we would also benefit from marketing support and expertise!

PURPLE HEART HOMES

Co-founded by two combat-wounded veterans, Purple Heart Homes has been bringing communities together to provide safe, barrier-free housing solutions for qualified veterans since its founding in 2008. A nonprofit organization based in Statesville, N.C., PHH supports service-connected disabled and senior veterans across the U.S., Hawaii, Alaska & Puerto Rico through a growing network of local chapters. Programs include critical home repairs and renovations to help veterans live independently in their homes, home ownership programs, and transitional housing through partnerships with other nonprofit organizations.

REBUILDING

BOARD POSITIONS:

We are always looking for talented individuals who have an interest in supporting our cause.

TOGETHER OF GREATER CHARLOTTE

Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte mobilizes community volunteers and contractors to provide repairs that make homes safer and healthier for our neighbors in need.

EVENTS:

Unum Tour Benefit Concert on July 12 at Heist Brewery and Barrel Arts. Rebuilding Spirits on Dec. 4 at NoDa Brewing.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Joining the [Re]New Crew to volunteer in providing critical repairs and modifications for homeowners. Typically Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

BOARD POSITIONS:

Core responsibilities include committee participation, leadership management, legal and financial management, & network development. Specific profiles for recruitment include: Individuals with executive leadership experience, construction, housing, or community development expertise, medical or healthcare expertise and community leaders from the Charlotte crescent.

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE

CHARITIES OF GREATER CHARLOTTE

We serve families of children being treated at one of the local medical facilities and provide many home-like services, including food, laundry facilites, and housing, etc.

THE RELATIVES

The Relatives keeps kids safe and families together while preparing youth and young adults to be healthy, productive, engaged members of the community.

Volunteer opportunities exist at both our Youth Crisis Center & On Ramp Resource Center.

BOARD POSITIONS:

The Resource Development Committee helps generate resources (financial, capital, and volunteer) and make connections for The Relatives. RDC members serve as table captains for The Relatives only fundraising event (Breakfast with The Relatives) and with that, it is important for them to be donors themselves. The committee meets monthly at 4pm and meetings can be attended virtually or in person.

TRIPS FOR KIDS CHARLOTTE

Trips For Kids Charlotte mission is to transform lives communities and landscapes through access to bicycle repair and education and transformative cycling experiences.

EVENTS:

On October 5th 2024, Trips For Kids Charlotte will host it’s annual Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day (TAKMBD) to support the next generation of riders to connect to nature through mountain biking. Join us to help support the event as a volunteer, supporter or a youth ride mentor!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

The Charlotte Re-Cyclery, the community bike shop program for Trips For Kids Charlotte, has volunteer night every Tuesday night, from 5pm - 8pm at The Charlotte Re-Cyclery. Join us in processing donated bikes in to reusable parts,

recyclable metals and refurbished bikes that will support the youth and community members of Charlotte.

We have board committee positions open. An interest and passion in connecting youth and community members to cycling for recreation, physical activity or accessible transportation is a must. VETERANS BRIDGE HOME

Our mission is to connect, lead, and advocate in communities to ensure service members, veterans and their families thrive.

EVENTS: Hero Run (5K/1K) on Saturday November 2; Carolinas Veterans Day Festival on Saturday, Nov 9

VBH offers monthly opportunities for veteran employee resource groups; volunteers are needed to support the Hero Run.
