HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES:

• Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation - help them clean up our rivers and streams to keep our water sources safe

• Freedom School Partners - needs reading buddies and school supply shoppers

• Second Harvest Food Bank - help them sort and inspect food donations.

• Envision Charlotte - help weave sound panels out of old t-shirts

• Diaper Bank - help count and wrap diapers/pull-ups and prepare them for distribution to families in need

All Hands and Hearts

All Hands and Hearts mission is to provide community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief. Over nearly 20 years of service, AHAH has developed deep institutional knowledge of the disaster relief space and the role of climate change in increasing the severity and frequency of disasters.

EVENTS: Hurricane Helene Relief Volunteer located in Asheville, NC

BOARD POSITIONS: As we evaluate our needs, we will ensure that any available board and committee opportunities are shared on our website.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: We have an urgent need for volunteers and there is no minimum time commitment. Volunteers can arrive on Tuesday through Saturday.

American Diabetes Association

The American Diabetes Association leads the fight against the deadly consequences of diabetes and fights for those affected by diabetes. We fund research to prevent, cure and manage diabetes, deliver services to hundreds of communities, provide objective and credible information and give voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas

Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 7 through 14, in communities across the country. We serve children in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, and York Counties through traditional community- and school-based mentoring and innovative specialty programs that connect caring adults with local children in meaningful one-to-one relationships.

Catawba Riverkeeper

Catawba Riverkeeper is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and restoring the 8,900 sq. miles of waterways within the Catawba-Wateree River Basin. We accomplish this mission by offering on-the-water experiences, hosting public and private trash cleanups, creating youth and adult educational programs, and conducting valuable research concerning water health.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: The Catawba Riversweep - citizens from all over the Catawba-Wateree River Basin come together to clean up on the same day, October 4. A day when thousands of neighbors come together at dozens of sites.

Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Heart Math Tutoring

Heart Math Tutoring recruits and supports volunteers as one-on-one tutors in Charlotte elementary schools during the school day, prioritizing economically-disadvantaged students who may lack resources to access private tutoring.

EVENTS: We will need weekly tutors for the 25-26 school year playing math games and building relationships.
