Alzheimer’s Association - Western Carolina Chapter leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

Organize a Collection Drive for Essential Items

Organize collection drives in their community for essential items including clothing, school uniform items, socks, shoes, blankets, bedding, backpacks, etc.

Crisis Assistance Ministry is to provide assistance and advocacy for people in financial crisis, helping them move toward self-sufficiency. As Mecklenburg County’s Lead Agency offering emergency assistance to low-income families, Crisis Assistance Ministry provides for basic needs with rent and utility assistance, clothing, household goods, furniture, and appliances; fosters financial stability through partnerships, counseling, and support to give families the tools they need to reach for economic mobility; and educates and engages the community to understand the realities of poverty in Mecklenburg County.

Host a Donation Drive or Fundraiser

Hosting a party or fundraising event is a great way to bring people together for some fun all while giving back to your community. Donation drives are also a great way to give the gift of cleanliness and are a great alternative to an event.

Project Outpour provides mobile showers and hygiene services to our neighbors in need. We operate our shower trailer at six locations around Charlotte every week.

Pack and Sort Food

Volunteer opportunities nclude packing and sorting donated produce as well as at off-site events. Off-site events include Mobile Food Pantries where you can hand out food to families in need and special events.

Second Harvest Food Bank Provides a regional distribution warehouse and branches that supply food and grocery items to charitable agencies that assist people in need. We provide training, technical assistance and hunger education to our partner agencies.

Village Volunteer

Join the mission, the system, and how YOU can play a part for good for children & teens in foster care.

Foster Village Charlotte: Foster families are all around you. They are regular people who are shifting their entire lives to say yes to children, doing all the things we do and adding in court hearings, visits, training, and giving love to young hearts who have known trauma and neglect. These families are doing the work, and they cannot do it alone. Foster Village Charlotte is in their corner, fighting for their voices and meeting their needs.

Weekly Run/Walk Program

Join us at RunningWorks Headquarters on Tuesdays and Fridays to go out for a run (or walk) with our program participants followed by a life skills workshop.

Running Works is a grassroots nonprofit organization that provides wellness initiatives, life skill development, social support and case management to promote healthy lifestyle habits. We know that individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty are more likely to have health disparities and negative health outcomes, so RunningWorks’ has created a unique model of using running/walking, education and social support to assist Team Members with their Health and Mental Wellness, with developing a Community of Support, and building bridges to increase Access and Opportunity.

Snacks for Moms Moving Forward

Help stock the Moms Moving Forward food pantry with snacks for children and families.

Freedom Communities: We work holistically with families in the Freedom Drive Corridor in West Charlotte in the areas of education, affordable housing, employment and health and wellness.

Pajama and Toy Drive

Providing pajamas, socks, dolls, toys and hair care essentials to underserved girls ages 1-17 years old in need during Christmas.

PrettyPonytails provides haircare kits and educational empowerment to at-risk and undeserved girls worldwide to help boost self-esteem and confidence.

Brave Step’s signature campaign to encourage survivors, loved ones, allies and the community to embody advocacy and initiate new conversations about the pervasive issue of sexual violence.

BraveStep empowers individuals who have been impacted by sexual violence.

Relay For Life Charlotte General/Day of Event

Day of Event volunteers may assist with registration, event set up/clean up, and other duties as needed. Opportunity that helps our event run smoothly.

American Cancer Society’s mission is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

Baby Shower Prepping

Mint to Be of the Carolinas needs volunteers to help organize and prep for our baby shower. Sorting baby clothes, Stuffing Baby Bathtubs and Totes.

Mint to be of the Carolinas mission is to significantly improve the support to single and married mothers in need of our community through support, counseling, education, and advocacy.

RyzABOVE Fitness strives to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (such as Autism and Down Syndrome) to live a healthy and more fulfilling lifestyle through exercise classes, day camps, and socialization opportunities.

Sound Panels

Take old tee shirts and weave them into sound panels or dog beds. This keeps textiles out of the landfill while making useful new products!

Envision Charlotte is a public private plus collaborative that leads Charlotte’s progress to a circular economy through innovations that strengthen economic competitiveness, environmental sustainability and positive community impacts.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Youth Council

The student advisory council for City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, CMS, and GenerationNation. Advise CMS and community leaders about issues impacting K-12 students and the future of the city, meet friends from different schools and parts of the community, and become a civic leader!

Generation Nation students build civic literacy, becoming civic leaders who know first-hand how their governments and communities work, understand and can discuss community issues, are able find and use good sources of news and civic information and build social capital, knowledge, and experience for active civic leadership and problem-solving, now and into college, career, and adulthood.

Positive Posts for Survivors and their Children (Spanish Written)

Everyone needs positivity in their lives to encourage them to keep going on good and bad days. For survivors of human trafficking and their children, combating negative thoughts can sometimes be a daily battle.

A Fresh Start CLT is an anti-human trafficking nonprofit that focuses our reach on impacting survivors and their children by helping the family to grow, heal, and thrive together.

Bookworm Buddies

These adorable bookworms are meant to encourage our young readers to read often and with a friend! Not everyone has someone at home to read with, but kids still need to read out loud, every day, in order to become stronger readers.

Promising Pages is The Charlotte Area Book Bank! Our mission is to collect new and donated books and share them with children living in the Charlotte Area Book Desert: those with few, if any, books at home.

New Stuffed Animal Drives

New stuffed soft cuddly animals, 9-11 inches to be donated to Hugaroo.

Hugaroo: Our mission is to provide new stuffed animals to children who have experienced a life-threatening illness, traumatic event or are at risk.

Build a Bedding Bag

Very first night in their new home, Furnish for Good clients can sleep in their own bed, made up with clean, fresh bedding. Our hope is that they will feel love and respect knowing that someone purposefully curated and coordinated these bedding items for them.

Furnish for Good serves Charlotte area individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, poverty, and other dire circumstances.

Build Kits for a Cause

Every kit that you create will enable a child to have the most basic tools they need to be successful in school. Choose from a variety of kits to build: Dental, Pencil Pouch, Hygiene, Wellness, Art, STEM, Homework, and Backpacks.

Classroom Central’s Mission: To foster equity in education by providing teachers and students with the free resources they need to succeed.

Kidz That Care Volunteer

Fun volunteer opportunities for children.

Kidz That Care organizes and leads fun, safe, free, age-appropriate volunteer events and service projects that empower kids/teens to give back to their communities and advocate for causes they care about and become student leaders.

Supply Drive for Care Ring Patients

Many of our patients are on extremely limited incomes and have trouble affording basic necessities. Donate or collect items such as: deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, hand soap, body wash/soap, shampoo, over-thecounter first aid and pain relief medications, and other similar items.

Care Ring is dedicated to providing health services for the uninsured, underinsured or those lacking access to affordable, high-quality health care.

Pantry Volunteer

Guide clients through the Pantry and help stock the shelves. This is a fun and rewarding experience as you work directly with clients.

The Christian Mission is a catalyst that empowers the community to become advocates and serve those in need to achieve an improved quality of life.

Stable Hand

Volunteers responsible to assist in feeding, cleaning corrals, feed bins, water troughs. With experience, will be able to groom horses and exercise miniature horses.

Mending Strides Ranch empowers those suffering the effects of trauma, neglect and hardships through the use of rescued horses in Equine Assisted Therapies.

Lake Norman YMCA - Preschool Volunteers

Volunteers will assist our preschool programs with integrating purposeful and intentionally planned activities that are designed to be fun and engaging while teaching children valuable skills.

Campus Beautification

Volunteers who have an interest in beautification. We would love assistance with keeping our grass cut, flowers planted and nurtured and ensuring that our campus remains beautiful.

Harvest Center: Our mission is to create a community where individuals affected by homelessness, poverty, and unemployment are empowered through our transitional programs and transformed by the love and ministry of Jesus Christ.

Pizza Friday

Our students look forward to lunchtime every day. Pizza Lunch Volunteers provide lunch for our 50 students. Pizza volunteers can be a monthly, weekly, or one-time sponsorship for The Nest to purchase pizza lunch for our students.

Linen Room /Laundry Valet

Volunteers will sort, inspect, and/or pack linens (towels, sheets, comforters) for House guests. Duties include refilling amenities and packing hygiene kits.

Hospitality House of Charlotte creates community for patients connecting to vital medical care. Our 20-bedroom facility makes it easier for patients to access the healthcare they need by offering lowcost accommodations in the heart of Charlotte’s medical community.

Transitional Housing & Community Agency Volunteer

Community Garden Manager.

Another Chance House of Refuge, Inc. empowers individuals within marginalized communities to improve their quality of life by providing a safe environment, safe housing, educational support, employment training, and self-sufficiency skills.

Donation Intake

Volunteers will work mostly outside receiving incoming donations for Servant’s Heart Community Boutique and Servant’s Heart Assistance.

Servant’s Heart of Mint Hill is a unique resource serving the Mint Hill community, zip code 28227, and families of students who attend Mint Hill Schools.

Creative Visual Arts Programs for Pediatric Patients & Families

Volunteers who have a high interest in serving children and families in the hospital setting by facilitating visual art projects.

Arts for Life is dedicated to supporting pediatric patients and their families. By providing educational art programs, we enrich patients’ lives, nurture their minds and spirits, and encourage positive healthcare experiences for children and their families.

Loaves & Fishes / Friendship Trays: Network of emergency food pantries and the primary Meals On Wheels program in Mecklenburg Co. providing nutritionally balanced groceries for neighbors in need and healthy prepared meals for those unable to prepare or secure meals for themselves.

Tosco Music Volunteer

Tosco Music has a great community of volunteers who help make Tosco Music Parties happen five times a year, and also help with hospitality and other needs at TMP’s, Tosco Music Open Mic every month, and other outreach activities in the community throughout the year.

Tosco Music has worked to foster a sense of community among listeners, supporters, and musicians throughout the region. Through performances and outreach programs, we connect professional and amateur musicians to share and inspire one another.

Dining Room Greeters

Community Dining Room Greeter volunteers will greet Donoghue’s Open Door guests and offer them a paper menu for their review.

FeedNC stands for Food, Education, Essentials, and Dignity. We create connections to food, education and resources as a catalyst for change by providing hot meals, supplemental groceries, educational opportunities, culinary workforce development, and community resource connections.

Latrobe Warehouse Helper

Help us prepare for summer 2023! Our warehouse team has a list of tasks to complete that may include grouping items for distribution, counting items for inventory, or sorting books and supplies to be stored.

Woodworking Enrichment Class

Once a month to do woodworking crafts with four year old children.

La Escuelita Bilingual Preschool provides native Spanish-speaking preschool children in the Lake Norman area a solid foundation for kindergarten and elementary school by teaching them basic classroom language and social skills, exposing them to arts, science, and sports, and instilling in them a love for learning in a safe, loving bilingual classroom environment.

Grant Writer

Research grants that align with Lions Services mission and support programs such as work workforce development to help the blind community that promotes a better quality of life.

Lion Services has provided job training and career employment opportunities to people who are blind, low vision, and blind veterans in Charlotte for 88 years.

Volunteer Chaplin
