Individuals, groups, families, or other teams are needed to organize collection drives in their community for essential items including clothing, school uniform items, socks, shoes, blankets, bedding, backpacks, etc.
Crisis Assistance Ministry is to provide assistance and advocacy for people in financial crisis, helping them move toward self-sufficiency. As Mecklenburg County’s Lead Agency offering emergency assistance to low-income families, Crisis Assistance Ministry provides for basic needs with rent and utility assistance, clothing, household goods, furniture, and appliances; fosters financial stability through partnerships, counseling, and support to give families the tools they need to reach for economic mobility; and educates and engages the community to understand the realities of poverty in Mecklenburg County.
Opportunities for groups of friends, colleagues, or corporations to gather donations of both funds and supplies. Donation drives are a great way to give the gift of clean and are a great alternative to an event.
Project Outpour provides mobile showers and hygiene services to our neighbors in need. We operate our shower trailer at six locations around Charlotte every week.
We have volunteer opportunities in our warehouse that include packing and sorting donated produce as well as at off-site events. Off-site events include Mobile Food Pantries where you can hand out food to families in need and special events.
Second Harvest Food Bank Provides a regional distribution warehouse and branches that supply food and grocery items to charitable agencies that assist people in need. We provide training, technical assistance and hunger education to our partner agencies.

Roof Above gives out 300 bagged lunches daily for over 100,000 per year. This opportunity is a great way for volunteers, regardless of age, confidence level, or size of the group, to participate in helping our neighbors.
Roof Above was born from the merger of Urban Ministry Center and Men’s Shelter of Charlotte; now one comprehensive homeless services provider working to end homelessness. Roof Above offers everything from street outreach and basic services, to shelter and housing. Collect Spanish preschool books for literacy component of bilingual school
La Escuelita Bilingual Preschool provides native Spanish-speaking preschool children in the Lake Norman area a solid foundation for kindergarten and elementary school by teaching them basic classroom language and social skills, exposing them to arts, science, and sports, and instilling in them a love for learning in a safe, loving bilingual classroom environment.
Mint to Be of the Carolinas Spring baby shower volunteer opportunity!
Mint to Be of the Carolinas mission is to significantly improve the support to single and married mothers in need of our community through support, counseling, education, and advocacy. Mint to Be will continue to be a safe place for mothers regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or economic status.

Furnish For Good - Through over 30 partner agencies, Furnish for Good serves Charlotte area individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, poverty, and other dire circumstances.
Every kit that you create will enable a child to have the most basic tools they need to be successful in school. Choose from a variety of kits to build: Dental, Pencil Pouch, Hygiene, Wellness, Art, STEM, Homework, and Backpacks.

Upcycle Arts is Charlotte’s first creative reuse center. Upcycle Arts collaborates with Charlotte manufacturers, businesses, and individuals to divert their materials from the landfill. Those materials are then available to the community for use in new ways such as mixed media arts. We connect to the community through our creative reuse center and our programming.
