The Mercy Moment

How you’ve helped open the door to healing for those in need.

Your Gift Gave Michelle a Place to Heal

Now she’s beginning to see herself through Christ’s love.

Just a few months ago, Michelle was barely getting out of bed.

She was exhausted. Her marriage was falling apart. Her family relationships strained and full of pain. The weight of years caring for everyone else — while never feeling truly cared for herself — had finally caught up with her. Inside, she felt invisible and unloved.

Because of you, Michelle’s finding her way back to the truth of being known and loved by God.

Michelle’s story continued from cover

“I didn’t know how to take care of myself, or even believe I was worthy of love,” Michelle shares. “I just wanted to be in a relationship where I felt safe and cherished — but I kept finding myself in places where I felt small, unseen, and unloved.”

Michelle’s story began with deep childhood trauma and abandonment. At 13, she left home, lived on the streets, and then entered foster care.

As an adult, those wounds followed her into every relationship. She longed for connection, but battled anxiety, peoplepleasing, and shame.

By the time Michelle contacted Mercy, her body was shutting down from stress and trauma. The pressure of caring for others, without ever feeling cared for herself, became overwhelming.

“Then, miraculously, I got the call from Mercy that there was space for me.”

“It came at a moment when I thought things couldn’t get any worse — my sister had gone into postpartum psychosis, and I didn’t have the tools or boundaries to navigate such a crisis.”

Because of your generosity, Michelle didn’t have to wait any longer.

At Mercy, Michelle found space to breathe. Through Christ-centered counselling, prayer, and community, she began breaking free from patterns that had defined her for years.

“I know God isn’t finished with me yet, and I still have a long journey of healing ahead,” she says. “But honestly, I don’t know where I would be today without Mercy Canada.”

Thank you for giving Michelle a safe place to begin again. Because of your compassion, she’s discovering who she is in Christ — loved, seen, and free.

Will You Pray With Us?

If you feel led, here are a few ways you can join Mercy Canada in prayer this month:

For the 51 people beginning their healing journey this month — that they may experience Christ’s love, safety, and restoration.

For our program staff team — for wisdom, strength, and grace as they support those carrying deep wounds.

For the vulnerable people still on our waitlist — that doors would be open for them to begin care without delay, and that no one would be left waiting when they’re ready to receive care.

For provision for future growth — as we dream about property for our wellness and retreat center to expand and capacity to serve more people.

“You helped bring our daughter back.”
A

mother’s honest story of watching her daughter return to life.

Angie remembers sitting in Mercy’s waiting room, her daughter beside her with arms crossed, eyes down, silent.

“I’m not going,” her daughter said flatly.

At just 13, she had already been hospitalized for severe anorexia. Every other door had closed. Nothing had worked. Their world was crumbling, and now here they were, again. Hoping. Praying.

Then a Mercy team member came down the stairs. Angie held her breath. Her daughter looked up, paused — and whispered: “Okay, I’ll go.”

It was a moment Angie will never forget. A crack of light. A turning point.

“From that day on, we watched the weight come off her shoulders. She smiled again. She responded to worship music. And we started to see our little girl coming back.”

Mercy was different. It was Christ-centered and compassionate. And because of your generosity, it was there when this family had nowhere else to turn.

“We were helpless. But we weren’t alone. Mercy helped bring our daughter back.”

Angie’s encouragement to other parents?

Don’t let shame silence you. Don’t stop praying. Hold on to hope — even when your child can’t. Because healing is possible. And our story is proof.

Healing takes time. For someone just beginning their journey toward freedom, consistent support changes everything. That’s why monthly giving matters so much. Right now, our waitlist is still long — and more people like Michelle are ready to begin care if we can say “yes”. Your monthly gift helps make that possible the moment someone asks for help.

As a Treasure Builder, your generosity provides Christ-centered counselling, life skills, discipleship, and aftercare — all at no cost to the client. This is a Kingdom investment that restores what’s been broken and brings lasting transformation through Christ.

The name Treasure Builder comes from Isaiah 45:2–3, a promise that God brings His people out of darkness and calls them by name, thereby revealing their unique worth. When you give monthly, you become part of that restoration story.

Treasure Builders are Mercy Canada’s monthly donors.
