It is a matter of pride to be able to celebrate the 4 decades of existence of this outstanding institution which is the Goa Dental College and Hospital. The one and only oral care service provider in the state and surrounding areas. I attribute this glory to all the teaching and non-teaching staff and students past and present for the extreme dedication and diligence. I would like to commend the student's council for planning and executing all the activities efficiently and to the best of their abilities.

The time couldn't be more perfect after the 2-year long hiatus to finally have the ball rolling in favor of some social gathering in an offline mode. It is such a privilege to hold the post of Cultural Advisor for the year 2021-2022! First of all, I am thankful to our Dean, Dr. Ida de Noronha de Ataide and the Head of the Department, Dr. James Samuel for the motivation and much required support throughout the year. It is such an honor to hold this prestigious post as well as great responsibility, especially with the upcoming Ruby anniversary celebrations of The Goa Dental College & Hospital. I must say it wasn't a cake walk but the enthusiastic council batch of 2022 definitely made it easier! The year began with the felicitation and farewell programme for the BDS BOND batch of 2020-2021. Along with the Student council, I got the privilege to facilitate the young inspirators network in association with The Gomantak Times. We organized online competitions during Ganesh Chaturthi & the 60th anniversary celebration of Liberation Day which includes art competitions, reel making, cooking & a dance off. We also conducted Community harmony campaign week from 19th to 25th November in association with National foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH). Kudos to the new council batch 2022, which organized the Freshers party for the first year BDS students of 2022, which was highly appreciated. And now looking forward to the Annual day 2022 on 13th April at GMC Auditorium, followed by the most anticipated meet & celebratory dinner commemorating the 40-year celebration of Goa Dental College & Hospital with the release of our Souvenir – THE DENTAL PRISM!!

“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other" ~John F Kennedy As I stop for a moment to recapture my life at the Goa Dental College, I realize there are immense things for which I am truly grateful. It has been both an honour and humbling experience to be the President of the student's council for this academic year. The moment I was bestowed with this huge responsibility I was engulfed with nervousness and excitement. This role has given me some unforgettable memories and experience which I will cherish all my life. It has indeed been a rewarding year. I appreciate the student's council which has done commendable job in organizing with great zeal and enthusiasm various events like the Fresher's party- Introductory function, fun week, Sports day and many more. In spite of compact schedule, I sincerely appreciate the students who actively participated in Intercollegiate events. I express my deep sense of gratitude to our Dean Dr. Ida De Noronha De Ataide, Dr Shalmali Dhond for their support and guidance, without which we would not have achieve our goal. Hearty Congratulations to the literary committee for their laudable job of putting this magazine together. I would also like to thank for entire teaching and administrative staff of the Goa Dental College, the student's council, and above all the students for their active participation, support and co-operation. We preserved through all the adversities and made our dreams come true.

Excellence is doing ordinary things with extraordinary well. Being the General Secretary of the Student Council in the GDCH is challenging as ever, but was much too obliged to take this position. My friends have given me a Golden chance of being the General Secretary to whom I promise to uphold every responsibility bestowed upon me. Working as a team we hosted a grand Fresher's event where, not just the members of Council, but the whole Council batch put their best efforts, and kudos to the Ist years who were very enthusiastic, and put on an incredible performance. After 2 years of the horrifying covid pandemic we got to organise the much-awaited sports day followed by Fundays which we conducted with all pop and splendour. On the big day, 13th April 2022, we are celebrating the glorious 40 years of GDCH through the Annual day, and a lavish Gala Dinner. Overall, we are looking forward to a sporty year, with all your support & coordination. I would like to thank our Dean Dr. Ida De Noronha De Ataide, Dr. Shalmali Dhond and president Ravina Nayak, Dr. Kashyap Bandodkar and all the teachers and my batchmates for their constant support and help.

Being appointed as the cultural secretary in one of the well esteemed & prominent institution of Goa, the Goa Dental College & Hospital has given me a great opportunity to unleash myself beyond academics. Through this journey I've seen myself grow tremendously towards responsibility & management. As a first-year student, amidst covid our batch had to juggle between online & offline classes, giving us a different experience to college life, in contrast to how we actually imagined it to be. Initially it was difficult to cope up with the new normal but with constant guidance & support by our seniors, Nyron Sir, Shivdas Sir and their council batch we made it through, for which we are very grateful. As our prestigious Institute completes 40 glorious years, I would like to thank our Dean Dr. Ida de Noronha de Ataide for her constant support & helping us make this day a remarkable one. I am really grateful to Dr Shalmali Dhond who has left no stone unturned to make this occasion a grand success, she has been our backbone, constantly encouraging and guiding us to be better in everything we do. I would like to thank Dr Sapna Dessai for all her hard work with the souvenir. Not forgetting all our teaching and non-teaching faculty, without whom this occasion would be impossible. I would like to extend my gratitude to our respectable President Dr. Ravina Nayak and Dr. Kashyap Bandodkar for always having our back in everything we do. Last but not the least I would like to thank the entire council and the council batch for putting their hands together and working as a team. I wish to leave you with a quote that inspires me every day: "Strength doesn't come from what you can do, it comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn't ” 09
