Goal Setting in PE —
A Physical Best Workshop
In this interactive workshop, participants will explore practical ways to teach students how to set, monitor, and reflect on personal fitness and activity goals
The workshop emphasizes student ownership, motivation, and growth-minded assessment practices that help learners connect daily participation to lifelong health.
Through hands-on activities and discussion, participants will:
Explain the role of goal setting and selfreflection in building student motivation and confidence in physical education; Practice developmentally appropriate strategies for helping students create specific, measurable, and meaningful fitness and activity goals; Experience elementary- and secondarylevel activities that embed goal tracking, self-assessment, and progress monitoring; Design feedback routines that support student agency while honoring diverse abilities, interests, and starting points; Leave with ready-to-use tools for goalsetting collaboration, student reflection, and family communication to support active lifestyles beyond the gym.

Health-Related Fitness in PE — A Physical Best Workshop
In this interactive workshop, participants will discover how to make fitness in physical education meaningful, inclusive, and engaging for all students
The workshop highlights updated PE standards, hands-on activities, and best practices for assessment, connecting fitness concepts to lifelong health.
Through hands-on activities and discussion, participants will:
Trace the progression of fitness learning from PreK through high school, identifying age-appropriate instructional touchpoints; Describe developmentally appropriate fitness concepts (HRCF, SRCF, FITT) and discuss how these progress through each grade span; Engage in elementary-level and/or secondary-level fitness activities and analyze how a variety of strategies support both skill and concept development; Evaluate current assessment practices in fitness education and justify strategies that are inclusive, sensitive, and supportive of all student abilities and body types; Walk away with ready-to-implement activities and assessment strategies, as well as a clear vision for how fitness education can connect students to health and wellness for life.

Implementing the New SHAPE America National Health Education Standards
This interactive workshop will leave participants equipped with a comprehensive understanding of the National Health Education Standards. Attendees will examine new themes in the revised standards through an exploration of the rationale, performance indicators, and other resources. We’ll identify how the revised standards can be used as a foundation to a skills-based health education curriculum and engage in teaching strategies that can be used to integrate the health skills into standards-based health education instruction
After the workshop, participants will be able to:
Identify key components and themes of the revised National HE Standards; Explore how health skills and performance indicators can be used to guide curriculum and instruction; and Outline a skills-based activity aligned with the revised National HE Standards.

Implementing the New SHAPE America National Physical Education Standards
This interactive workshop will leave participants equipped with a comprehensive understanding of the National Physical Education Standards.
After the workshop, participants will be able to:
Examine the shifts and changes in the revised National PE Standards; Analyze and unpack the newly introduced grade-span learning indicators, previously known as grade-level outcomes; Explain effective strategies to integrate the new progressions into teaching and learning; and Develop practical approaches to enhance curriculum development.

This engaging workshop is designed to provide educators with the tools and knowledge to create inclusive physical education programs for students with various abilities
Through interactive activities and practical examples, participants will gain a deeper understanding of fostering a supportive and equitable learning environment with the SHAPE America National Physical Education Standards serving as the foundation
This session will explore strategies for adapting standards-based activities in a physical education environment to meet individual needs, ensuring all students can participate meaningfully and safely. A Primer for Teaching a Skills-Based Approach in Health Education
This workshop provides the fundamentals of a skills-based approach to health education in which the focus is on developing student proficiency in the skills of the SHAPE America National Health Education Standards There will be discussion on strategies for facilitating skill development through relevant and functional information.
By the end of the workshop, you will have the tools needed to transition to a skills-based approach to health education in your course, school and/ or district
